According to the Ford Escape towing specifications, the Escape will tow a trailer weighting up to 3500 lb. max with a max hitch weight of 360 lbs. I live in California and any trailer must have brakes that weights over 1500 lbs. and according to Dot a trailer must have a emergency braking system independent of the tow vehicle in case the trailer breaks loose. I am planning upon buying a 15foot travel trailer that weights 2700 lbs dry with a hitch weight of 260 lbs. There are many popular fiberglass ultra-lights that are within this range. the 4 pin electrical connector and wiring that can be ordered with the Escape 2.0 L Ecoboost and the one you have listed on your site cannot be used because it does not have the connections for electric brakes A California and Dot requirement or the charging relay and wire. Do you have a kit for adding the 6 or 7 pin connector with wiring for the Escape? Thank you in advance.

To add a 7-Way trailer connector to your 2013 Ford Escape with a factory 4-Way you will need # ETBC7. This will provide the 7-Way and the wiring/accessories needed to install a brake controller. It also includes the wiring and accessories needed for the 12 volt circuit.
For a brake controller I recommend the P2, # 90885, because it is easy to set up and use and it is reliable. I have included some links that show and explain the ETBC7 installation for you.
