Any Exhaust Heat Issues With Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch, # 24847, On 2010 Toyota Prius

The earlier hitches for the Prius by Curt Mfg. were the same diameter all the way across, causing heat from the muffler on the passengers side to melt the back of the plastic bumper. Later models of the hitch had a narrower piece of solid steel on that side to let the exhaust escape. Does this hitch take that into account. I had the newer hitch on my 08 Prius I just bought the 2010 and need a hitch. I like that this one says its hidden.

The Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch for the 2010 Toyota Prius, # 24847, has a larger L-shaped bracket on the right side of the hitch which allows clearance for the muffler. It allows air to circulate around the muffler to keep any heat from transferring to the the plastic bumper.

We have sold quite a few of this part number and have not heard of any complaints with the exhaust heat causing any problems.

When installing this hitch you will have to remove the tie-down hook on the drivers side and lower the exhaust to help in the installation.

I am sending a link with the installation instructions for the hitch and a video link of the same hitch being installed on a 2010 Toyota Prius.
