Curt Triflex Brake Controller Always On Installed in a 2006 Volkswagen Touareg

Question:

As noted I have a 2006 Touareg, I bought the curt triflex brake controller and installed it double checking all connections however everytime I plug in a trailer with brakes it goes through the calibration then always displays 0.5 or 0.6 if we ramp up the brake strength it will lock up the tires even though we dont have the brakes on. Thoughts?

Installation of a brake controller on a 2006 Volkswagen Touareg is a little more complicated than on many other vehicles. It requires some special parts from Volkswagen and you will likely need a 12 volt normally open relay to avoid erratic displays and trailer braking problems.

I have included a link to a help article detailing the process. It is critical that it is followed exactly. I know this method works with Tekonsha controllers like the P2 # 90885 and P3 # 90195. I cannot confirm that it will work with a Curt brake controller. Curt controllers have constant voltage on the blue wire but no amperage draw until it needs to apply the trailer brakes.
