Base Plate Kit Recommendation for Flat Towing a 2001 Chevy S-10 4 Wheel Drive

We do carry base plates for the 4 wheel drive models of the 2001 Chevy S-10 as long as they aren't the ZR2 or Xtreme models. For that you would want the part # 165-2.

In addition to the base plates, you will also need a compatible tow bar, safety cables, lighting, and supplemental braking to flat tow your vehicle. The most popular compatible tow bar is the Falcon 2, # RM-520. For safety cables you can use # RM-643. The coiled design helps keep the cables off of the ground.

For lighting you may also be interested in the Magnetic Towing Light Kit, part # RM-2120, for an easy to install, less permanent solution. Or for a more permanent solution, Roadmaster Universal Hy-Power Diode Wiring Kit, part # RM-154 (I attached a link to an FAQ page on how to wire a vehicle with a diode system)

And finally, most states now require supplemental braking in the vehicle being flat towed. The easiest system to set up and use is the Patriot Braking System part # BLU37TR, that applies the vehicle brakes in proportion to how much the two vehicle is braking. This is the safest way to stop and it reduces wear and tear on both vehicles.
