Fit of Lets Go Aero BikeWing 2-Bike Rack on 2003 Honda CRV with Rear Spare Tire

Just bought this bike rack for my step daughters car. It arrived yesterday and is still in the box. She has an appropriate hitch receiver on the car but I realized that her 2003 Honda CRV has an external mounted spare tire, as they all do, on the exterior of the rear hatch door. Can you confirm this bike rack will still work with this vehicle? I dont want to open the box and have to repack it for return if its not going to work. If this rack wont work, do you have an alternative available for exchange, perhaps something which mounts to the spare tire itself? Please advise, I wont open until I hear from you. Thanks.

It is easy enough to check the fit of a hitch-mount bike rack on any given car by taking one simple measurement on the vehicle - the distance from the center of the hitch pin hole (on the receiver tube) to the rear-most part of the vehicle, in this case the back of the spare tire cover.

The linked article illustrates how to take this measurement.

The Let's Go Aero BikeWing 2-Bike Rack # LGA54FR provides 12-inches of clearance from the hitch pin hole to the closest part of rack. As long as the measurement on the CR-V is LESS than this rack measurement then the carrier will clear the spare tire cover. We even offer a protective cover # S82006.

If your daughter is carrying only one bike she can use the outer position on the rack. If she will load 2 bikes then the actual type and size of bikes will come into play. For example, very wide beach cruiser handlebars may not fit well if the bike is loaded on the inner position. In this case she may need to load the narrower bike on the inside position.
