If your 1993 Ford F-250 came with a factory installed 7-Way trailer connector then you can plug in a brake controller since all the tow package wiring will be present on the vehicle. A brake controller would plug in to a plug under the dash.

You could use Curt brake controller # C51130 and wiring harness # C51312 to plug it into your F-250. The factory plug is located underneath the dash, to the left of the steering column, and it is taped to another harness near the emergency brake pedal.

If your truck did not come with a factory 7-Way then you would have to hardwire a brake controller in. Some of the wiring may or may not be present and if it is present it is not likely functional.

To install a brake controller you would start by installing a 4-Way trailer connector # 118316 unless the truck already has one. the you would need installation kit # ETBC7 and a brake controller of your choosing to complete the installation. I have included some helpful links that show and explain the ETBC7 installation.

If your truck has a 7-Way but it is not factory then you would still need to hardwire in the controller. But instead of using ETBC7 you would just need installation kit # 5506 but you can still follow the relevant parts of the ETBC7 installation.
