Elite Series Jaw

Forged, Self-Latching Jaw

The one-piece, self-latching jaw on this fifth-wheel hitch provides absolute security with its wraparound design. Increased jaw-to-king-pin contact results in not only a stronger connection, but less rattle and movement as well. And the convenient lock indicator on the hitch handle ensures that hookup is complete and secure before you can lock your trailer to your hitch.

Unrestricted Truck Bed Access

Complete Truck-Bed Access

Once your Elite Series fifth-wheel hitch is installed, you can easily remove it for complete access to your truck bed. The fifth-wheel head removes with just two pins and is easy to lift. Then you can unlock and disengage the base legs from the Power Puck rail mounting system and remove them as well. All that you will be left with is four small cavities that sit flush in your truck-bed floor - no rails, no bolts.

90 Degree Wiring Harness

Simple Wiring

The included 90-degree wiring harness makes attaching your trailer to your tow vehicle a snap. With a 9' lead that can easily reach your truck bed and a 90-degree angled head that fits into tight spaces, this uniquely designed wiring harness is perfect not only for your new fifth-wheel hitch, but for gooseneck hitches as well. Simply tee the harness into your vehicle's factory-installed 7-way trailer connector, which is mounted under the bumper of your truck. The 7-way connector on this harness then mounts in the wheel well, right next to your hitch, for quick, easy hookup.

Video Transcript for Reese Fifth Wheel RP30142 Review

Today were going to review part number RP30142. This is the Reese Elite Series Preassembled Fifth Wheel Trailer Hitch and it does come with the included wiring harness to add an extra seven-way into the truck bed of your vehicle. This Elite Series style hitch uses the nice pucks system mounting system where the rails will be installed under the truck bed. What that does is it gives you complete truck bed access. Once its installed you can easily remove it for complete access to your truck bed. No rails in the truck bed or anything.

The rails would be underneath. The fifth wheel head, what makes it easy to remove is this fifth wheel head, theres a pin and clip on each side right up under here that if you remove the clip, slide the pin out, you can lift this head off of the hitch and then you would just have the legs and the cross member center, and then to remove those, all you have to do is let me show you here on the side. Youll see theres this lynch pin right here that if you just pull this out and these two tabs if you just push those through and then open these; these open up 90 degrees, right there and then one on the other side, pull the pin out and push open the tabs as you can see these would slide out or open up 90 degrees. With all four of them opened, the legs and the cross member will lift up out of your truck bed and all that would be remaining is the four holes, or the pucks theyre called, in the bed and you can actually put a cover over those to cover those up so you have complete use of your full truck bed when youre not towing your fifth wheel. And, then when you want to put it, when youre ready to go camping or tow your trailer, what you want to do is take the legs and the cross member, take the covers out of the pucks, drop it into there, and then you just push these back all the way closed and as youll see when you do that, theres holes on the ends of the tabs, they will line up and you just drop, put the lynch pin through there clip it closed and that will keep it locked in place.

Same way over here. Just slide the tabs, holes line up, drop the pin in. You have the legs and the cross member installed. Then you just take your head, drop it onto the cross member, put the pin and clips in. Youre ready to go.

Very, very simple installation; quick and easy. So, you can go from having your fifth wheel hitch in your truck bed to removing it and having complete use of your truck bed. Now, a few features on this fifth wheel which are really nice. It has the forged single piece, self-latching jaw which will wrap around the kingpin to ensure proper connection. This type of design will offer superior jaw to kingpin contact for maximum security and minimum rattle.

Now, the head on this has the nine inch wide funnel which is a nice design rather than the traditional six inch wide funnel. The wider funnel will provide a larger area for guiding the kingpin into the hitch, has this extendable length, lockable handle. Lock it right here if you want, lets you easily secure the trailer to the hitch. You can also use a padlock instead of the pinning clip for additional security. The padlock would be sold separately. There is a kingpin indicator right here. Again, if I rotate it, I will show you how that operates. Right now we have the pin and clip in so its pretty much assuming the kingpins in here and youve got the handle locked so theres no, jaw wont go anywhere. Basically, if you remove this pin and clip, you heard the indicator go back into place and thats because theres no kingpin in there. If there was a kingpin in here, it would push up against the lever and youll see this indicator pop out. When that pops out it opens this hole up between the handle and the head that you can drop your pin and clip in or your padlock whichever you prefer to use. So, right here is the kingpin indicator, if that latch is not out of the way and the holes open, that means the kingpin is not correctly in the hitch head. Nice feature also. Now again, this Elite Series for this demonstration, I am showing you mounted on the under bed rails. They are not included. You would have to purchase the correct custom under bed rail kit for your application and again when you do the under bed rails its, the feature is nice because again you have uninhibited use of the truck bed when this hitch is removed. The legs, as you can see, have a very wide footprint which offers increased stability. The head on this is a four-way pivot. Basically, it will pivot front to back and has a four degree side-to-side pivot. Nice thing about that is it will be a faster and easier hookup because even if youre on unlevel ground, the head would move and hook up, allow the hitch or the kingpin to hook up correctly. There is also a four inch, also, oh, before I forget, theres another feature on this head, its hard to see here, but there is a zirque fitting that is actually down in the head flush, you cant touch it, but its down in there and has room to where you can put a grease gun on there, squirt some grease in there and it would actually lubricate the moving parts underneath the hitch head. Thats also a good feature. You can do a height adjustment for the hitch head height above your truck bed. Theres a range of four inches. Basically, this center cross member here that bolts to the legs has a, on the sides right here, theres four sets of holes that will range from 14 to 18 inches. So, if you bolt this cross member to these legs in the top holes that would be the lowest. It would be fourteen inches and the hitch head would be 14 inches above your truck bed. If you put it to the very bottom set of holes, which would raise it the maximum, it would be 18 inches. So you could go from 14 up to 18 inches to adjust the hitch height above your truck bed. Now this does come all fully assembled so it saves about an hour of assembly time. It is a sturdy steel construction, has a black powder coat finish which is corrosion resistant. It is made in the USA. A few features or specs on it, the gross total towing weight capacity is 18,000 pounds or depending what your rails will be rated at, the lowest of the, either one, either 18,000 or if the rails are rated lower it would be that rating, does have a vertical load limit or a pin weight of 4,500 pounds, does have the hitch height adjustment I just mentioned of 14 to 18 inches, does come with a seven year limited warranty. Excuse me, and I had mentioned it does include the 90 degree wiring harness. You can see right here that this will install in your truck bed, on the side of your truck bed and its 90 degrees so the nine foot long cable, our lead, will go up under your truck bed and will fit into any of the tight spaces, and the other end right here as you can see has the connections that will actually plug into your vehicles factory installed seven-way connector which is usually mounted under the bumper of your truck, and that is all included. And, that should do it for the review on part number RP30142.

Item was received well packaged. All parts were received as expected. I wish I would have taken pictures of box when it was received or as I installed it on my 2015 F250 but rest assured it fit into my Ford with the 5th wheel prep package quite easily. Directions were adequate. My only issue was I did not know if the pre-asembly of the base was torqued correctly. There was no mention of it in the packaging and I do not own a torque wrench so it would have been comforting to know that it was done properly before shipment. However it appeared to be okay and I had no issues towing my 5th wheel the 15 miles from the dealership to my home. Also there is no mention prior to ordering that you need lithium grease to properly lube the moving parts. Make sure you have on hand prior to assembly. Overall, excellent product and I am definitely please with it and highly recommend it. 203214

I am thoroughly pleased with my purchase one year ago of this hitch. We have towed our 32 crusader across the country and back via different routes with no issues. I have read where others find it heavy to lift in and out of the truck bed. I would too except I remove the hitch plate to lighten the load so that I am lifting two relatively lite pieces instead of one heavy piece. We take the 5th wheel out on the road about every two months so I am happy with how I can separate the two in order to lift them in or out of the truck bed.Extremely easy to install, less than 5 minutes. I am totally satisfied with this product.

My Reese Elite 5th wheel hitch arrived UPS. 143lbs and used a hand dolly to take off the truck and wheel to my garage. Came packaged ok. Pre-assembled and everything was included. Read the Manual, which for older people helps, showing lube and parts, install info etc...referring back to the manual/instructions. Used a wooden table(same height as my tailgate) to wheel it right up to the gate and slid the hitch on a piece of cardboard(from the box) into the position of the puck system. Moving the base first then the hitch plate next. The hitch install was simple and easy. Did not need any help. I did call customer service and made a slight 1/4 turn adjustment to two legs for a tighter fit. There again referring to the manual/instructions provided with the hitch. Very pleased with the hitch over all. It served its purpose and I believe will give us many years of service. We pull a 5th wheel gvwr of 11769lbs and completed over 1200 miles of safe towing. Pleased with my purchase. Thank you. 159385

I have installed this hitch 4 times. It is a solid piece. With a little care in the mounting adjustments, there are no rattles or noises, even when the camper is not connected. The only problem I have is the instructions indicated drilling 4 3" inch holes in the bed. A 2 1/4" set of holes is more appropriate. They leave too much room for installation error. I mount the rails below and use a pointed bolt from the bottom to mark the hole location to drill the bed. Other than that - I think this is a great hitch. 125537

Fantastic! I would recommend this hitch to anyone who wants a quality product.

This hitch looks well made and thought out. Connecting it to the bed of my Super Duty is a snap with the cam locks. I love how I have a flat bed when it's removed due to the Ford under bed fifth wheel rail kit. I'd buy it again. My only two minor negatives are: 1. It's a heavy beast. Much more than my old hitch. It pushed me to buying an overhead hoist for the garage, which makes putting in and taking out the hitch so much easier. It was a blessing in disguise. 2. The handle isn't easily removable like my old hitch. I bike on my vacations and when driving to the trailhead I put a bike on either side of the hitch. Now I have to keep a ratchet handy to remove the handle. 99373

My Hitch came fully assembled, easy to install in my 2015 Ford F350 with factory rails, A 1 1/2" in box end wrench works great to tighten the puck nuts if you have it, If not the provided wrench works, its just a little difficult due to confined spaces. I had it adjusted and installed in about 30 minutes. Have a little axle and lithumn grease on hand for the installation. The grease cert was a great idea from reese for lubing internal part with out removing the head. A 12'' lube plate is needed if u don't like greasing the head, it just makes things easier. 217592

Since this unit comes fully assembled it was a snap to install in the under bed mounting unit. The only issue I had was how the product was received. The box fell completely apart when the UPS driver was taking it out of his truck. He said it was damaged before he got it. Luckly everything was still in the box. 175843

Great price for a top quality 5th wheel trailer hitch. There are other similar hitches to this B&W, but this is the best and the same as Ford's OEM one costing much more. Some assembly is required, just fitting to truck bed and locking/pinning the head mounting is required. One thing that is not mentioned on this website is the pre-mount height of head is 15-3/4 high, the most used height for most truck and trailers. 352837

by: Richard G.07/22/2017

Overall, nice hitch. A little sensitive to "off center" coupling - it likes a very straight and very level shot, despite the advertised wider entry opening. Not happy with the paint on the receiver pate - chipped and rusted easily. Easy to install and remove - comes off in two pieces resulting in lower weight to lift off the bed. Pops into the Ford puck system without problems. 409139

Hitch height is actually about 3/4 inch taller than advertised. The height advertised is to the bottom of the hitch legs and not to the bed of the truck. Shipping was as advertised. Ordered noon Mon. and had hitch at my door Wed 1 PM. 132772

Review from a similar Reese Elite Series in Fifth Wheel

Will try to keep this as real as it gets out there. 2015 F250 XLT Crew Cab 8' Bed Ordered the Reese Elite Gooseneck and Barger 90 degree wiring harness. Received the gooseneck hitch and harness quickly. Free shipping got here in two days. Item came in two boxes. The rails were poorly packaged. Box was basically open and beat to hell, leaving markings on the rails' paint. Didn't bother me, but might others. The pucks were loose in the box and were lucky they did not fall out. The second box with the ball, ball mount, harness and misc. hardware was packed so well it took about 5 minutes to take off all the staples and then each product was individually boxed inside. Wish they would treat the rail box with the same care. Instructions are ok. Used the online install video instead. The video is slightly simplified as getting the nuts on the bolts is a slight challenge for a one man install. I was able to do the entire installation by myself with the exception of the four rail-to-frame bolts. Getting these snugged up to the point of being able to torque took two people simply because the nuts are hidden on the backside of the rail...particularly the driver-side front...which is slightly behind the gas tank, but still accessible. My F250 is factory lifted 4-5" so I did not have to remove the rear wheels, nor did I have to remove the spare tire or heat shield. Lower trucks will need the rear wheels pulled. Installing the ball mounting plate took some doing. Got one bolt on then decided to actually install the ball into the plate from above pulling the plate tight below. I used vice grips to basically keep the plate mounted tight rather than trying to lift it from underneath with one had and bolt it with the other. For me the most time consuming part of the project was getting the darned bed bolts off to lift the right side. Broke the T50 bit they supplied and then two others. Finally gave up and ground off two of the remaining bolts...and ordered replacements. Tip for those doing this on their own, you may want to spray the bolts from under with PB Blaster the day before you intend to install. I forgot and the issue was likely that the bolts were rusted. The wiring harness was a breeze, although I wish a shorter version was available. (Perhaps I missed it). Had to loop/zip tie about 2-3' under the bed. Connecting between the factory connectors did require me to pull the mounting plate. Was a bit tight to just slip the new connector in. Also, working the harness thru the hole in the bed side was a bit tight. Install probably took 10 minutes after getting the holes drilled. Total install time for this slightly skilled guy was about 3-1/2 hours...after the bed bolts fiasco. Oh...and did it all with a cast on the left arm. Ha! Now to see how she tows! 430852

Review from a similar Reese Elite Series in Fifth Wheel

I recently purchased a 2016 Ram 3500 with 5th wheel tow package already present on truck. I wanted an additional goose neck product and looked at various suppliers online and found etrailer products offered for sale. After to speaking with Heather who answered all my questions as well as reviewed feedback from customers I chose to go with the Reese gooseneck kit. I received the product within the shipping date provided to me and I went out to install it. It took me all of 3 mins to install with no issues. I did my best to remove, shake and couldn't get them to budge. It took me a total of 5 mins to remove the parts and storing them back under the rear seat. The parts fit perfect, look great as well as we're the cheapest price I could find. Their online video is all the install instructions you need! I will definitely use etrailer in the future. Thanks Heather! 296158

Review from a similar Reese Elite Series in Fifth Wheel

I have owned B&W, Curt and Reese Hitches for 5th wheel trailers. When I recently purchased a toy hauler I needed a heavy duty hitch for the 20,000# load. I decided to spend the extra money and get the Reese because of previous good experience and fitting the installed pucks in my F350. The Reese felt very light when I unpacked it. The parts are all made in China or Mexico. Assembly and installation took 25 min. The release mechanism feels cheap. It is difficult to make sure the pin is fully seated in the hitch. 2x it looked seated and I was able to install the locking pin and the trailer came out of the hitch! I always do a test pull in forward and reverse before pulling out onto the road. First time it came out I caught it on the test pull, second time it looked good w the test pull but 30' down the driveway it came out and crushed my bedside and tailgate. I would recommend the B &W or Curt before buying the more expensive but inferior Reese. 397426

This is a very handy piece of equipment that i.use but normally use the 5th wheel hitch. When I pull a gooseneck I remove the 5th wheel hitch and install the gooseneck hitch within minutes..

Still works like new. Plastic cover came off. Double sided tape gave way. Did not hinder the operation, just cosmetics. I would buy again without hesitation.Kudos E Trailer

Looks good, however, it was made in China, something I didn't see on the website. Hope it lasts. 195353

So far so good. The only problem was finding safety chain hooks that fit the safety hookups. I gave up and used heavy duty d-rings instead.

Review from a similar Reese Elite Series in Fifth Wheel

Purchased for a 2006 Silverado Crew Cab Duramax. Previous owner left the underbed portion of the assembly. The actual ball mount is very easy to install with detailed instructions. Plastic trim on top is sort of cheap with unreliable double sided tape from the manufacturer, which I will have to replace. I would not recommend for lifted trucks as the ball sits approx 6 inches higher than a hideaway turnover type, unless you have that much room to adjust your gooseneck trailer. Other than that, I am pleased. 446119

Review from a similar Reese Elite Series in Fifth Wheel

The Reese Elite Series Pop-In Ball Kit was perfect fit for my 2014 RAM 3500 with the factory installed gooseneck prep kit. Once it arrived, my wife and I had no problem installing and removing any of the components from the kit. Being able to put all parts in the handy carrying bag is a bonus to. As for etrailer.com, delivery was faster than expected and much appreciated. The video and reviews on the website for this product (not to mention the price) were the main reasons why I purchased this product and purchased it from etrailer.com. If I had one con, it would be that ball hitch needs a sleeve to protect it from being dinged or scratched in the carrying bag, but no big deal. Thanks etrailer.com! 178262

Review from a similar Reese Elite Series in Fifth Wheel

When the package arrived, I set to opening it, (very well packed). Everything that I ordered was there. Got the Gooseneck adapter figured out and got the kingpin collar installed. After I moved the truck so that I could place the adapter under the fifth wheel assembly the set up was very simple. Setting up the ball and the adapter took me about 1.5 hours to complete. Very good equipment. Would recommend to anyone that wanted to have the versatility in towing options. Sorry, no photos. The reason I went this way was due to the cost of a fifth wheel hitch for the 2016 Ram 3500/ with the pucks per-set in the bed and on the frame this worked out to be a little less expensive to do. 330572

Review from a similar Reese Elite Series in Fifth Wheel

I have a 2016 Ford F250. My truck didn't come installed with any hitch equipment other than the stock bumper hitch. I insulted Reese Elite Series rails under the bed and have pulled my 5th wheel just fine since. Recently, I purchased a new 5th wheel trailer and the dealer tossed in an Andersen Ultimate Hitch 2. The only problem is that my truck hasn't been equipped with a gooseneck hitch. This product solves that problem, integrates with my current setup, and is incredibly easy to install. Can't wait to test it out on the road this weekend. Here's my current setup: 2016 Ford F250 Air Lift Air Ride System with compressor Reese Elite Rails with Gooseneck Hitch Kit 448210

Review from a similar Reese Elite Series in Fifth Wheel

My entire experience with etrailer.com was excellent. I spent numerous hours researching the hitch and tonneau cover set up I wanted for my 2014 Ford F250. The majority of my time was on the etrailer.com website reviewing Q&A, installation guidance and videos, and expert advise. I chose the Reese Elite Series 5th wheel hitch and the BakFlip F1 tonneau cover. Both products arrived within 10 business days. Installation was as easy and straightforward as expected. The BakFlip F1 really dresses up my F250 and the BakFlip technology makes it very easy to use and gives me full access to my truck bed as needed. The Reese hitch has performed flawlessly. 132420

  • Gooseneck vs 5th Wheel Hitch for Towing My RV Fifth Wheel Trailer
  • A gooseneck adapter that is designed for towing a fifth-wheel trailer, like the Convert-A-Ball Cushioned 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Adapter, # CAB-C5G, is normally used when a person already has a gooseneck trailer hitch installed in the truck and needs to tow both gooseneck and 5th wheel trailers. These adapters are a good solution, but do not provide as nice a ride when towing a fifth wheel trailer. If your truck does not have a hitch installed I would recommend going with a fifth-wheel...

  • There are two available alternatives. You can use a 5th wheel hitch that's designed to drop right into the pucks, or you can use an adapter that sits in the pucks and provides industry standard bed rails for a standard 5th wheel hitch to attach to. First the puck mounts. If you have the short bed, you'll want to use a sliding hitch, like the Reese Elite Series Slider, part # RP30144 which will drop right into the pucks. The hitch has an 18K capacity. For a long bed truck, use the stationary...

  • 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch for a 2017 Ford F-350 with Factory Prep Package and Reese Revolution Pin Box
  • Since the trailer comes with the Reese Revolution pin box you will need a fixed hitch, not a slider, and a custom wedge to match the hitch. The wedge prevents the trailer from turning at the hitch so that it turns 22 inches further back allowing you to make tight turns without needing a slider. For a hitch that fits directly into the factory prep package on Ford trucks including your 2017 F-350 I recommend the Reese Elite hitch # RP30142. And for a custom wedge use # SWW-01.
