Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

2003 Honda Civic

Item 24719: Purchased to fit a 2003 Honda Civic SI 3-dr Hatchback Installation was easy. The only thing that was confusing was where it bolted the tie down loop to the car because the way it was explained in the instructions, it didn't seem centered. So we put the spacers in a different order than what was in the leaflet. Otherwise, it fit flush with the frame underneath and was easy to get straight. WIRING: we had issues getting a good ground with the converter kit that we purchased. Didn't use the self tapper screws that came with the kit. Instead, found a place where there was overlapping panels by the subframe of the car and drilled a hole & used an 8mm bolt & nut to secure. We also did some simple soldering instead of using self-tappers. Still not convinced that those converter boxes aren't without issues. Couldn't seem to get the lights to work without the car running. Turning on the key without starting it up just didn't seem to work constantly. It seems like the converter box required full charge of the battery & car running before everything was ok. After some trial & error, it now seems to work perfectly. Today was the maiden voyage for towing. All lights worked fine (but car was running). RECEIVER: we bought a different receiver than the rep recommended because the drop would have made the trailer dip too far. Instead we used the most minimal rise receiver that would fit and it works really well. Trailer looks very level and pulls easily. In the end, the tow was without incident and pulled our small trailer with a riding mower & a push mower. We won't be making long distance trips with this hitch set-up. We just needed something to haul the small trailer within city limits. Couldn't get a hitch for the Mercedez Kompressor Coupe so we feel lucky to find a hitch to find the SI. Customer Service from e-trailer.com was excellent. We initially made a phone call and the gentleman we spoke with was able to find the exact hitch for my Civic SI that is NOT a sedan or a standard coupe. He actually brought up a photo on his end of the exact car instead of just looking at data. 2nd call for advice about the receiver was different. The person we spoke with was more about dimensions and data in the computer than having hands-on experience about what we needed. The recommendation was for a 3-4 inch drop on the receiver which would have made the trailer almost drag on the ground. We used our common sense and ordered the straightest one with only 1 inch rise. Overall it was a great experience. We are very happy with the quality, quick ship, and reputation of etrailer.com. We would recommend this place to anyone.

Comments
Excellent - still going strong! Very strong hitch. We use it probably 6-8 times per month for hauling yard waste and other items to the local recycle center. We are careful about weight but it is a perfect fit for the Civic SI. Very happy with the purchase - 1 year later!!

Installing the trailer hitch on my Acura RSX was straightforward and easy. I enjoyed doing it myself and saving some money. I pull a small beach catamaran and my friends all crack up at my little coupe pulling a boat!

Fits great. Ordered with the universal wire kit. All put on a 2003 rsx type s. Arrived very quick (3 days) even with not having the harness in the main center. They came together boxed excellent. Installed hitch and harness in about 20-25 mins. Already tested it out and it’s perfect. Would highly recommend.

Shipped well protected. Directions are easy to follow. Fits nicely on my 2002 Honda Civic Si. Only had to jack the car up a few inches to get my drill up and under the car to drill the 2 holes through the trunk. Took about 30 mins to completely install. Make sure you have some sealant on hand.

Excellent hitch with easy installation, just make sure you have a torque wrench. I used a silicone sealant for the bolts in the tire well, I’ve had no water leakage or exhaust odor. As always great customer service and installation instructions on etrailer!

We use this for a bike rack and it works great. Our mechanic said he'd never pull a trailer with it. (A very light utility trailer would probably be fine.)

Comments
Assuming the hitch has been installed according to the installation instructions, the hitch can handle a trailer weighing up to 2000 lbs with a tongue weight up to 200 lbs.

Haven't pulled any trailer yet on this.seems to be very sturdy hitch.i think it will have no problem pulling a trailer its just the connection points on my rsx might not hold up.im afraid it might snap off my car.

Easy to install, suggest you watch YouTube video. My second hitch (sold the car that had the first one). Very dependable, a year later still doing its job with no issues. Used only for bike rack on compact car and it is just what I need.

Ford Transit Connect

For the money, this is just what I needed. Service was EXCELLENT. I was able to email my order before purchasing and learned that the receiver I was about to order would have voided the hitch warranty should something happen in transit. I also purchased the wring harness from etrailer. This was a little disappointing as it came with no instructions. I recalled etrailer had videos on wiring as well. After much searching, I found one for my very model and car. I was so glad I spent the time as there is a wiring harness in my RSX which made the difference from having to tear apart the molding; to just pulling the adopter out and connect the wires. The best part was I ordered the hitch, receiver, ball, and wiring harness on like a Wednesday and etrailer bumped up the shipping priority so that I have before the weekend. EXCELLENT - In short order I was pulling my kayaks to the stream.!!!!

2002 Acura RSX

Good quality and fast shipping. Only issue was that it had a pretty deep scrape on the underside like it had been scraped by a key!! Other than that it's a sturdy piece of metal

I bought a trailer hitch for my car that enabled me to put a bike rack on that has made it so much easier to transport my bike than the precarious one that i had previously. The hitch was easy to install and ordering it was also easy.

- 24719
by:
2006 Acura RSX

The installation was easy because the etrailer videos showed exactly what had to be done. The bad part was that the hitch is made with an internal projection that prevents ALL of our ball couplers from fitting. (The projection prevents the coupler from going in far enought for the safety pin to be inserted.) To allow the couplers to fit we had to machine a groove in the side of them.

Looks as if it will go on easily. This is a small hitch compared to the one I put on my Odyssey. On that one I used a floor jack to raise the hitch into position. I may do the same on this simply to make locating and drilling the holes easier.

Hows the angle of the hitch? Does the rack hit the floor?

Comments
The angle is great. I had to cut a little bit of the plastic wheel holder on my Thule t2 to fit when folded up, but it holds the bikes secure. It is much better and secure than the hitch on my 2009 altima lots of bounce and low clearance. The civic never bottoms out and is very stable.

Easy install. Took about 30 minutes. Purchased a hitch carrier with this tow hitch. The tow hitch says the max tongue weight is 200 lbs, which is the only downside, so just be careful. Otherwise, great hitch for the money.

by:

Just as expected. Everything in the box, good directions and of course a YouTube video. I took my time and it took about 90 minutes to do a pro job. The only reason I didn't rate five stars was that the carriage bolts with the rectangular spacers slipped when trying to torque the bolts down.

  • Why Some Accessories Do Not Work With Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch for 2002 Honda Civic
The reason you are hearing some accessories will not work with the Draw-Tite Sportframe Trailer Hitch # 24719 is because this is a Class I hitch and it requires the use of Class I accessories such as a bike rack or cargo carrier. Some Class I hitches, such as this one, have a tab that stops the use of Class II and above accessories and that is the reason some people can't fit their pin and clip through.
