Today we're going to be taking a look at the round cross-bar for Yakima roof rack systems. This multi-purpose crossbar is going to supply the backbone for your aftermarket roof rack system. As you can see it's a round design. The round design fits all Yakima towers. Towers are sold separately and can be found here at etrailer.com. The bar provides stability to your roof-mounted racks and allows you to carry the accessories that secure your gear. A round bar roof rack system is going to be great for bike racks, water sport carriers, roof baskets and boxes, and much more.
The round style bar will accept accessories that clamp or strap around the bar. It's constructed of a vinyl-coated, galvanized steel so the bar itself is very strong and durable as well as rust and corrosion resistant. That nice vinyl coating provides slip resistance for your gear and keeps the bar protected. Now one bar is included. The diameter is 1 1/8 of an inch with a steel wall thickness of .085 inches. A single bar is available in a 48-inch, 58-inch, 66-inch, and 78-inch length. It's going to be covered with a lifetime warranty. Please note that the crossbars do not include the endcaps. This bar is a great replacement for the original ones supplied on the Yakima Rack & Roll trailer.
I've just installed the rack on our Tacoma. I ordered a single unit to mount near the windshield. When used with another rack (this one home made) on the back of the box we'll have a very steady way to transport long canoes and kayaks.
My order was different. I only needed half of everything. Natalie was great. Lots of help, made everything easy, and followed up. Shipping was fast, too. I recommend these folks.

Free delivery that showed up in 3 days!!! Can't beat it. The crossbars with the Control Towers and LandingPad 9 fit perfectly on my Honda Element. Had them installed in about 30 mins. Don't have my cargo box yet and wanted to test strength, so I had my 110lb wife standing on them with no issues (yes, the car was parked). Plan to take a long camping trip next week with a cargo box on top...wife will be in the vehicle:-)
I have used Yakima products for decads, after two decades I got a new vehicle and I needed a wider set of bars. After two decades the products are still relatively easy to install, and fit tight and secure to my vehicle. Do take care to pay attention to the installation instructions and follow the recommended measurements very closely and the installation will go smoothly.
etrailer is excellent...however, not too pleased with Yakima and these cross bars - second set in four years...they make them out of a steel that rusts quickly...better out of stainless or aluminum. Maybe that is their idea of planned obsolescence. I also learned not to install end caps...that accelerated the corrosive process.
I ordered the Yakima roof rack, with the Hullyrollers for the back crossbar and the Mako saddles for the front crossbar to use with my kayak. It arrived just like they told me and I put them on my car the eveningit arrived. Got to finlly use the roof rack on June 22 to go out kayaking and it worked great. Only thing is I did not know about the air reflector piece for the front crossbar. Now I will be ordering it to help with the wind noise.
Great rack, go on fast, easy to install and work well on my VW TDI wagon. Care has to be given and follow the instructions for the install to what type of rails you have. Works great carrying the VW luggage carrier and plan on using it to carry kayaks as well. Just have not decided what kayak rack type to get yet.
The Yakima roof rack system is an Outstanding product. I purchased the product to replace the OEM roof rack because it was too flimsy to carry the tandem bike mount and my bike. The Yakima roof rack is solid and provides me the peace of mind while hauling my bike on the roof of my car. etrailer provided the product for the best price as always.
I've attachec a few pictures of the Yakima rack on my Audi Q7. It took a few attempts to find the right combination of attachments, but in the end, the pin attachments work best with the access points on the factory flush-mount rails. Great product!!!!!

roof racks showed up in great condition, and showed up as one package.... I should have ordered the J racks from here but I found them cheaper locally so Thule J racks compliment the whole setup and i am just about ready to hit the water :)

Have been rocking my Yakima rack from etrailer.com for a year now. I am using rack in conjunction with a Tepui tent. Once I added the air deflector, I would say it's the perfect setup. The Yakima gives more clearance over the factory rack, so I was able to get my hands under it to secure the tent hardware. If you're thinking of upgrading your factory rack, I would not hesitate to use etrailer.com

It’s working out great. I have sent another email a month or so ago requesting information on towers for roof racks and have got no response yet. I need roof racks and towers for my leer camper shell.
