Yakima HoldUp 4 Bike Rack In Use

The Yakima HoldUp is a premium, tray-style bike rack that lets you carry 4 bikes using your vehicle's hitch. This rack is specifically designed to carry bikes with big tires and wide handlebars, but it will carry just about any bike, including those with wheels from 20" to 29", carbon frames, disc brakes, thru axles, or full suspensions.

Removable 2-Bike Add-On

Yakima HoldUp 4 Bike Rack Removable 2 Bike Add-on

The rack includes a 2-bike add-on that installs easily onto the base rack. When it's not needed, simply remove the add-on with the included special tool and throw it in your trunk or leave it at home. To install the add-on on your HoldUp, simply remove the endcap from the bike rack base, slide the add-on's shank into the hole on the bike rack, and secure the shank with a bolt that comes with the add-on.

Yakima HoldUp 4 Bike Rack Safety Flag and Clearance Lights

The add-on includes a safety kit with 2 red LED lights and a flag. The lights and flag ensure that the rack is visible to other vehicles on the road.

Wheel-Mount Design for Easy Bike Loading

Yakima HoldUp 4 Bike Rack Large Front Wheel Holders

The HoldUp is easy to load, even if your bikes have monster wheels. The deep, contoured front wheel cradles accommodate just about any wheel out there, and the pivoting arms with StrongArm technology ensure that your bikes are held firmly in place.

Yakima HoldUp 4 Bike Rack Ratcheting Arm

To load a bike, simply place your front wheel in the holder, rotate the pivoting arm up and over the wheel, and press down firmly on the ratcheting hook. To release the hook, simply press the built-in red button and slide the hook up and off your wheel.

Yakima HoldUp 4 Bike Rack Adjustable Rear Wheel Cradles

Large rear wheel holders allow the HoldUp to accommodate a wide variety of bike wheelbases. These wheel holders pivot front to back, adjusting automatically to your wheel size - no need for sliding and tightening. Secure the wheels in place with the ratcheting straps built into each holder.

Yakima HoldUp Ratcheting Arm No Frame Contact

Mounting bikes by the wheels helps prevent any scratches or scuffs to the paint. The ratcheting hooks are padded, however, so they won't mar your wheels. And the pivot mechanisms in the arms are overbuilt to ensure they keep functioning smoothly over a lifetime of hard use.

Fully Adjustable Bike Trays

Yakima HoldUp Adjustable Bike Trays

The wheel trays on the HoldUp are fully adjustable to ensure that you have all the space you need when mounting bikes with mammoth handlebars, such as a 29er. To adjust a wheel tray, loosen the 4 bolts where the tray attaches to the rack base and slide the tray left or right to achieve the desired spacing. Retighten the bolts and you're ready to roll with optimum handlebar clearance and no fear of bike-to-bike contact during transport.

Complete Security

Yakima HoldUp 4 Bike Rack Built-in Cable Locks

The HoldUp has a cable lock built into the end of each pivoting arm. These cables loop through your bike frames and attach to posts on the bike rack arms to secure your bikes in place. The cables store in the arms when not in use.

Yakima HoldUp 4 Bike Rack Locking Hitch Pin

The rack also has a HitchLock hitch pin that allows you to lock the rack to your vehicle. The threaded pin also works as an anti-rattle device to reduce noise and movement of the rack when it's mounted in your trailer hitch receiver.

The cable locks and HitchLock hitch pin include keyed-alike Same Key System (SKS) lock cores. These cores can be swapped out to make all your Yakima products keyed alike.

Tilting Design and Compact Storage

Yakima HoldUp 4 Bike Rack Folded for Storage

The HoldUp stores more compactly than similar platform-style racks, a features a spring-loaded pin at the base that lets you fold the rack up against the rear of your vehicle when it's not in use. First rotate the front wheel holders inward and tilt the rear wheel holders inward, then rotate the pivot arms down and use the ratcheting hooks to secure the arms to the rear wheel holders. Once the arms are in place, pull the pin and fold the rack up against your vehicle.

Yakima HoldUp 4 Bike Rack Tilted for Rear Cargo Access

The same pin tilts the rack down, while fully loaded, so you can gain access to your vehicle's rear cargo area without having to unload your bikes.

  • 4-Bike Platform Style Bike Carrier that Works with Kids Bikes with 16 Inch Tires
The Yakima HoldUp bike carrier # Y02443-2 fits with 14 inch to 29 inch wheels and tires and wheelbases up to 47-3/4 inches. carrier can be used as a 2 or 4 bike carrier as well. Or another option is to use the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider # HR1400Z and then use adapter # HRSW-ADP-2 for 16 to 18 inch wheels. This bike carrier can be used as a 2 or 4 bike carrier as well.

  • Is There 4-Platform Bike Rack that Can be Reduced to 2-Bike Rack and Carry 60 lb E-Bikes
I have a really great solution for you but when carrying only 2 bikes the Yakima rack part # Y02443-2 would not be able to carry two 58 lb bikes. Instead though we have the Kuat NV part # NV22B-NA22B which does have a 60 lb per bike capacity when carrying just two bikes. In this type of configuration it would be your only option as well. I attached a review video for more info on the bike rack as well.

  • Why Cant Yakima HoldUp be Used with 5th Wheel RV
I know it can be a bit confusing because a trailer hitch is a trailer hitch, but the reason the Yakima HoldUp 4 Bike Platform Rack # Y02443-2 isn't appropriate to install on your 5th wheel RV trailer hitch is simply due to the extra movement at the back of 5th wheels. Since the axle is located further away from the back of your RV compared to passenger vehicles the movement back there is much more exaggerated and Yakima has deemed it isn't safe to use this bike rack on a 5th wheel RV. • Recommended 4-Bike Platform Rack That Allows 2012 Lexus GX 460 to Open Rear Door
Thank you for all the information, it was very helpful. I went to our demo room to take some measurements of the Swagman XTC-4 # S64665 and based on those would not be able to confirm it would allow a 2012 Lexus GX 460 to open the rear door. If you use the attached photo (which shows the Swagman, but not on a Lexus GX 460) as a reference, you can see that at the highest point, the XTC-4 is going to be roughly 28" above the ground on a 2012 Lexus GX 460. Given a margin of error of roughly...

  • Front Hitch for 2017 Ford Expedition for Carrying Bike Rack
For your 2017 Ford Expedition we have the Curt Front hitch part # C31068 that you referenced as a confirmed fit for the front of your vehicle. This would work well to carry a cargo carrier or a bike rack like the Yakima part # Y0249 that you mentioned as well. This hitch does not have a 4WD or 2WD fit exclusion so it will work great on your Expedition regardless of which model you have.

  • Does Yakima HoldUp 4-Bike Require Adapter Bar for Womens Bikes
The Yakima HoldUp # Y02443-2 is a wheel-mounted bike rack, which does not need a tube because the ratcheting hooks grasp your bikes by its tires (this will only work if your bikes don't have fenders, however). The HoldUp is a great option for girl's bikes, step-throughs, and alternative framed bikes. I have added a link to a video review of this rack for you to check out as well.

The Yakima Holdup 4 part # Y02443-2 can fit your 2006 Toyota RAV4 as long as you have a 2 inch hitch installed on it like the Curt # C13149. Aside from that no adapter would be needed. I attached videos for the hitch and the bike rack for you to check out as well.

You should consider the Yakima StageTwo Bike Rack for 4 Bikes # Y75AR which will hold bikes with a 16"-29" wheel. You will also be able to key it in common with your current Yakima keys. • Comparing Draw-Tite and EcoHitch Hitches for a 2021 Tesla Model Y
Thank you for your purchase and for all of the info! The Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch # DT58MR is still an excellent choice for your 2021 Tesla Model Y and it allows you to replace that removeable fascia so you won't need a hitch cover. The only other trailer hitch available at this time (May 2022) is the EcoHitch # EH39FR. This is also a solid option but it sits at a higher price-point and you install a bracket on the fascia cover so you can still utilize it. So the EcoHitch might stick out...

  • Fit of Yakima HoldUp 4 Bike Rack # Y02443-2 on 2012 Kia Sorento
The Yakima # Y02443-2 HoldUp 4 bike rack should work excellently in the hitch on your 2012 Sorento, but to be absolutely sure, you'll want to take a quick measurement that shows how far under the rear bumper the receiver opening is recessed. Find the hitch pin hole, and measure rearward until you clear the furthest rearward point of the back bumper. If this measurement is LESS THAN 7 inches, the HoldUp 4 will have enough clearance. I've linked you to an FAQ article that shows how to take...

Yes, as long as you have a 2 inch hitch installed on your 2012 Subaru Forester like the Draw Tite part # 75650 the Yakima Holdup4 part # Y02443-2 that you referenced wil fit and work well. If you had bikes loaded on this rack and went to tilt it down the weight of the rack and bikes would be more than you'd feel comfortable with as the rack alone weighs 100 lbs. A better solution for rear hatch clearance would be the part # TH9027XT which pivots out and away from the rear of the vehicle...

  • What 4-Bike Hitch Rack do You Recommend for 4 48-Pound Electric Bikes?
I have a great rack for you, though I do not know if you are referring to the Thule T2 Pro XTR or the Thule T2 Classic, so I can give you a response for both. Unfortunately, with the Thule T2 Pro XTR and the Thule T2 Classic, you do not have enough weight capacity for your 4 48-pound e-bikes. This is because they only have a maximum overall capacity of 160 pounds. With your 4 e-bikes, you need a total of at least 192 pounds while still under the per-bike maximum. A great alternative...

The Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE Bike Rack for 2 Electric Bikes # HLY74FR will work very well for electric bikes and non-electric regular bikes. The tire trays are heavy duty and wider to accommodate the electric bikes, but will still allow regular bikes to be mounted without any issues or concerns. This has an impressive weight capacity of 80lbs per bike. There is not a way to convert this bike rack to a 4-bike carrier, however, you could go with Yakima HoldUp Bike Rack for 4 Bikes...

  • Choosing Between Yakima Y02443-2 HoldUp and Hollywood Racks HR1400Z for Bikes w/ Fenders
Wheel mount bike racks like the Yakima # Y02443-2 HoldUp don't work well with fenders. In order to securely hold the bike, the bike retaining hook needs to grasp the tires directly, right in front of the front wheel fork. A fender prevents direct contact with the tire, so I wouldn't recommend that type of rack for you. The Hollywood Racks SportRider SE you'd looked at, part # HR1400Z would work perfectly for bikes weighing up to 50 lbs apiece. A hitch and cable lock is included. If you...

To replace one of the arms on your Yakima HoldUp Bike Rack for 4 Bikes # Y02443-2 you'll have to replace the entire tray since the arm isn't available as it's own part. You'll need part # 8890280 for the front (closer to vehicle) tray or part # 8890281 for the rear (further from vehicle) tray. The max tire width for 29" tires is 2-1/2" which is why your new bike feels snug. This rack can hold up to 4 bikes with a weight capacity of 50 pounds per bike (which is higher than many others that hold this many bikes).
