What's up everybody It's AJ with etrailer.com. Today we're gonna be checking out this Viair portable automatic compressor. This is gonna be at 150 psi. Let's check it out. It's a great choice for portable air compressors because it's not only gonna have an automatic shutoff that means when it fills up the tank, it stops. So you don't flip the switch, just leave it running while you're going from tire to tire around your vehicle.

I had an old plastic one that would just rattle around and travel on the ground. You'd have to flip the switch turn off 'cause it just wouldn't turn off on its own. This one will do that and it gives you plenty of air hose to reach all those tires. So you can just set it here, go to each tire and get them filled quicker. The compressor itself has a nice foam handle on top.

It's not very heavy. You can lift it up and set it down very easily but I like that it has a grip. Some of the other compressors I've worked with don't even have a handle, so you have to grab it underneath and lift it, which that's doable, but I just like having this foam handle. It's easy to grab it and set it down. Another thing I really like and you'll see that when we go to use it, is the rubber bottom here.

You've got rubber stoppers that keeps that in place and you'll see as I move it this is would be what it looks like when it's running. So this part will be vibrating but the bottom won't be. So it won't be rattling around the ground, moving around on you. It'll keep it quiet and in the same spot. On the side, you're gonna have an air filter that you can replace.

They even give you the replacement part for that. So we'll just unscrew here. When you first get it, there'll be a rubber cap in place. You'll have to remove. It doesn't take that much to remove it. And then you just turn the lid to get to the air filter and that's how you replace it. It's gonna have a duty cycle of 33% of a hundred psi. So about at 40 psi, it's gonna run for about 40 minutes. So just keep that in mind, when it goes to shut off and cool down, it's not gonna allow itself to overheat. That's why it's got that automatic shutoff for. Now you do connect it to the battery to power it. So make sure your vehicle is started when you go to use it. You don't wanna drain your battery either 'cause it's gonna pull about 30 amps. Now let's go through the process of setting up the compressor. We're gonna hook the alligator clamps onto the battery. So we've got black on the negative side and then red on positive. Now they aren't very aggressive clips. You see they don't open super wide so we'll have to go in the back portion. They won't fit around the main terminal but they'll fit left here on the side. Now we're gonna start up the truck so it's ready to turn on the compressor. Now I'm gonna attach our air hose to the compressor. Just gonna push down on this section, push it on the valve, let go and it snaps into place. Do the same thing with the gauge and the inflator. Now just flip the switch and power on the compressor. You hear it kick on. It's gonna fill up this tank and then it'll shut off on its own. Now that it's shut off, you know it's got plenty of air to go to the tire. The compressor's gonna have an eight foot power cord. So going from the battery to the compressor on the ground that's a great thing just because the battery's gonna be in a different spot on every vehicle and you don't have to worry about this being super tight and bouncing around the tire or even up here in the engine bay. That's annoying and can cause it to fall over. It's safely on the ground with plenty of cord to go. Now you're also gonna have 30 feet of air hose so that not only can you reach the front tire, we can easily walk to the back tire and go the other side of the truck. And even here on the other side of the vehicle, we have plenty of air hose to reach to our tire. Now we're gonna attach the air hose. You just put this over the valve. Push down on this portion and it latches it so it doesn't thread on, but that also keeps it on there. You don't have to worry about it breaking off. It's on there nice and sturdy. With it attached, we can see the gauge says about 40 psi so I'm gonna put a little extra in there just to show you that it's easy to hold the trigger and air up the tire. We'll go a little bit higher. And then if we overshoot like I did here, wanted to stay at 40, we can hit this button here and that's gonna let the air out. That way you can get it to the psi exactly where you need it. Now it also comes with its own carrying case. I really like that. That way you keep everything together with all these parts. In there as well, is the spare filters I talked about earlier. And then there's other fittings it comes with for other devices that you can air up. Here's the spare fittings it comes with. That way you can air up other things if you need to. Now to put it away, you just undo all the quick fittings. I'm gonna coil up this cord and wrap up the jumper cables. We're gonna disconnect the air hose from this side. Make sure you let all the air out of the hose before you start disconnecting things, just so there's no air escaping. We're gonna set the air hose in the front pocket, right there. Zip it up. Then we can put everything else in the main portion. Just keep the alligator clips together, set the compressor down in the bag and then the air gauge as well. I'm gonna zip it up. Got two zippers, meet in the middle and then a flap and it clips over top. Overall, I did like this compressor. I like the length of the air hose so I can get to all the tires. I didn't have to move the compressor. Also, I like that the compressor has the rubber on the bottom so it keeps it in the place. It doesn't rattle around or even move on me so I don't have to worry about it moving around, making a bunch of noise. I also like that it has a carrying case, so I can keep everything together with the extra attachments that way you can just throw it in the back, and I know where everything is when I need it.
