Well, I haven't had any adventures with the wheels installed yet, but I successfully pulled out of and back into my driveway with nothing broken this time. The wheels saved me and I saw the trailer wheel on the driver side come off the ground some as I pulled out, so I know these skid wheels are well made.

After one year, I had one wheel break and etrailer was super helpful to get it replaced under warranty. The only area that I have really needed this for is my driveway and it has worked out perfectly.

by:

The bolt pattern in the plate does not match the wheels. The 1/2" hardware supplied does not fit into the mounting plate holes or the caster holes. I had to provide my own 7/16" hardware. Also, it was only possible to get 3 bolts into the holes. The pattern is not accurate enough for 4 holes. The angle of the grease zirk on the wheel prevents a standard grease gun from being able to grease the main axle. I have not tried backing into my driveway yet with my trailer to see how well they perform, but I will keep you posted.

I am not sure as to what is going on with the wheels as the holes should line up. Do you want to return them? I can make arrangements for you.

Skid wheels work at low speed pulling in and out of places. On my first trip out after istalling them on my way back home thru the of state of Indiana on I-70 i had one broke and bent frame pn 24' enclosed trailer. I had to buy a second set.

by:

After replacing my rear stabilizers on both sides at different times I went shead and ginally bought tbese wheels. Why every traler doesn't come equiped with them is a mystery to me. No fewer than 6 times in the last year these wheels have performed exactly like they were designed. Fantastic upgrade!

by:

i recently purchased these "skid wheels" for my 2023 wolfpup and they worked perfectly, installation was easy enough, all i had to do was drill the proper 3/8" hole and wham bam thank you, they installed with what was provided. If you want to, you could install these with "u bolts" (not provided). after installation, i pulled the trailer out of the driveway and they worked perfectly. remember, measure twice and follow the directions provided, mark you location and measure again to make sure they are located properly. Like i said, they worked great for me.

by:

These wheels are much better than ordinary casters from a hardware store. They are very heavy duty and perfect for a trailer. We have a Lance 1575 that is low to the ground, plus we have a steep driveway. The trailer's skid bars drug very badly while entering or exiting our driveway and these wheels solved the problem. Our trailer doesn't have the typical square bumper, which would have made mounting these wheels much easier, and its frame is pretty light weight. I ended up getting some 2 inch angle iron and "sandwiched" the trailer undercarriage to make a way to bolt on the wheels so that they are centered directly under the frame. That has worked fine. We can now move our trailer in and out very quietly.

by:

Works perfectly on our camper. Our driveway is steep and the camper would bottom out. With these added on it is no longer a concern and we won’t be losing stabilizing jacks from them hitting the driveway. I would recommend!

by:

Thank you Gwen for answering my questions about these skid wheels. Can't wait to get them mounted!

My skid wheels were mounted to a 16 enclosed trailer that I use to haul an antique car or my antique motorcycles. We have a very steep driveway and these skid wheels work really good to keep the tail end from dragging. Ive also noticed them preventing the tail end of the trailer from dragging in certain situations. They work great and I would definitely buy them again.

by:

Excellent design and construction. Went together very easily, and exactly what I needed. Grease fittings are a plus on both the wheel and caster. Will make it very durable.

by:

One wheel broke during the first trip, not sure when or where. Purchased a second set and so far they have worked well.

by:

Product received yesterday and I must say that it is very beefy. Heavy Duty. I will be installing this in a couple days and look forward to being able to drive my Travel Trailer into my driveway without chewing up my Stabilizer Jacks. One suggestion for eTrailer is that they double box when shipping. My set came in the original product box. Because of the weight of the rollers the box had split open on one side. One of the mounting plates was sticking half way out of the box. All parts were accounted for.

So glad I purchased these a year ago.

by:

Wheels are not as strong as they seem to be, they need to be made of solid steel not pot metal ( metal poured into a mold.)
This is my second set. One has broken after 1 1/2 years of service.

They are great, make sure to grease the wheel bearings regularly, and check the wheels that they spin freely especially in wet conditions

Grabbed these about a year ago, working great!!!

A bit of welding and drilling, but I’m sure each trailer is different. Would buy again, but something tells me I won’t have to!!!

by:

Excellent product. Work just as described. I installed them on my 40’ travel trailer (12,000LB GVWR). The mounting plates are welded directly to the frame and the skid wheels are affixed to the plate with the supplied bolts.

by:

These wheels worked perfectly to protect my sewer dump pipe from dragging for my lance trailer 1575 2015 model, the stock skid guards are worthless, I recommend replacing them with these wheels and brackets, all bracket holes match up with the lance trailer frame and is a snap to install less then 15min

After a year and using our trailer on 13 trips, the skid wheels have no damage and work very well saving our dump sewer pips. The wheels have two grease points wheel and swivel they fit perfectly on our lance 1575 trailer

Doing what they are supposed to do. No more dragging. I go very slow in situations of a potential drag and watch wheels make cpntact and roll. Holding up well so far.

by:

Ultra-Fab is the only company I've found to produce skid wheels of the size and composition needed. I have a class B Van and a somewhat steep driveway The problem is that the metal castings for the wheels fail. Over the past several years I've gone through 3 of these wheels, with hub failure being the problem. If someone made a pressed steel hub with the 'Ultra-Fab tire' instead of a casting, the wheels would probably last longer, but so far, I've not found any. Solid steel skid wheels work just fine but tear up the street.

by:

Have a Winnabago 24J RV and the skid wheels come in handy on a lot of steep entrances, like gas stations. Works well when hauling bikes on my rear hitch. Gives the bikes more pavement clearance in the event of contact. Have had for over a year and still look and act like new.

by:

I added these to my 2018 42' Montana 5th Wheel camper and they have worked perfectly. I have 1 low spot that they come in contact with my drive way. I would recommend these if you have a light contact like me. I don't think these would hold up if it was a harder or heavier contact with the road. But for my purpose they are perfect.

I am sorry to hear that this item is not working. We will need some more information in order for us to better assist you. I have sent your information over to our customer service department for them to get in touch with you. Once you have a solution, we would appreciate your updated feedback of your experience and the product.

by:

Very happy with the product. I have read the directions thoroughly and they were adequate for the product. Haven't dragged them on the ground yet but the quality appears to be good. I had an issue with damage during shipping- a zerk fitting broke off the swivel bearings on one caster and the zerk on the other caster is slightly deformed. A little more packing material would have prevented this. I'm picking up a couple at the store today to put in before I install.

by:

Well, turns out I intended to write this review much earlier and thanks for the reminder.

Yes, this set of skid wheels work PERFECTLY!!! I could not be happier. We take our trailer to the mountains and it has come in quite handy on our very sloped driveway to the street---after all, it is in the mountains. Very happy with the purchase.

  • Recommended Diameter Skid Wheel for Rear of 31 Foot 8 Inch Motorhome.
For motorhomes longer than 30 feet, Ultra-Fab highly recommends using the 5 inch skid wheels, part # UF48-979012. The reason is that the longer motorhomes usually have a longer overhang at the rear. Using a shorter wheel like the 4 inch diameter would increase your chances of dragging and damaging something when backing up. The 5 inch diameter wheel would offer you more protection, so I'd recommend going that route.

The Ultra-Fab Skid Wheels # UF48-979015 mounting hardware would be at the 4 inch distance and unsuitable for your bumper.
