TorkLift SuperTruss in SuperHitch

This SuperTruss hitch extender is specially designed to work with your SuperHitch trailer hitch (sold separately). Like most products from TorkLift, the primary purpose of this extender is to help create a towing setup that fits perfectly with your truck bed camper system. Not only will you be able to extend your trailer hitch receiver out far enough to clear the overhang of your camper, but you will also maintain a high enough weight capacity so that you can tow your trailer.

Heavy-Duty Towing with a Hitch Extension

Most hitch extensions dramatically reduce the towing capacity of your hitch setup, making it difficult to tow a loaded trailer over a certain weight. The SuperTruss, though, creates such a sturdy connection with your SuperHitch trailer hitch that you can still maintain a high weight capacity. To get the highest capacity possible, use a standard weight distribution system with the TorkLift towing setup.

The SuperTruss uses both of the receivers on your TorkLift SuperHitch to ensure a sturdy, secure connection. The solid shank of the extension's top tube slides into your top receiver, and the extension's lower compression tube installs in your bottom receiver. Each tube is held in place with the hitch pins and clips that were included with your SuperHitch. The connection between the extension and your hitch is reinforced with 2 sturdy steel collars that bolt around the tubes of the SuperTruss.

To give you absolute peace of mind, lateral support chains connect to the hitch and the extension on either side of your setup. Just attach one end of each chain to the extension and secure the opposite end to your SuperHitch. Then tighten the chains with the integrated turnbuckles. These chains not only provide extra security to keep the extension in place in your hitch, but they also transfer some of the weight back from the extension to your frame-mounted hitch.

How to Determine the SuperTruss Length You Need

If the camper is mounted on the truck:

Measure from the face of the truck's rear bumper to the outside edge of the camper's bumper. This is the length of the extension that you need.

If the camper is not mounted on the truck:

1. Measure from the inside of the front of your truck bed to the outside face of the truck's rear bumper.

2. Measure the camper's overall floor length from the rubber bumpers at the front to the outside edge of the rear bumper.

3. Find the difference between these 2 figures by subtracting. The difference is the length of the extension that you need.

  • 2024 Ford F-350 Super Duty TorkLift SuperHitch and SuperTruss Recommendations for In-Bed Camper
Thanks for reaching out again, Kevin! You'll need to go with the TorkLift SuperHitch Magnum Trailer Hitch Receiver # TL27CR for your 2024 Ford F-350 (which requires the removal of the factory hitch receiver if present), and then for the extender the most commonly used is the 36" SuperTruss # TLE1536, but the correct length really boils down to your specific in-bed camper and your trailer. You'll want to calculate how much extension you actually need and then you can choose from the linked...

  • Hitch Extender Needed For A 2022 Chevy Silverado 3500 With Truck Bed Camper And Utility Trailer
Hey Les, The TorkLift SuperTruss Hitch Extension # TLE1536 you were looking at is exclusively for TorkLift's SuperHitch so you'd have to replace the factory hitch with part # TL74FR in order to use it. There are other hitch extenders available but they'll reduce the capacity of your trailer hitch by 50% and won't be nearly as long as the SuperTruss extenders. Do you know how long of an extender you need to clear the truck bed camper?

  • Recommended TorkLift SuperHitch for a 2008 Dodge Ram w/ Welded Factory Hitch
There's only one option that will fit your 2008 Ram truck with a welded on hitch that will work with the SuperTruss hitch extensions. It is the TorkLift SuperHitch Magnum Trailer Hitch item # TLD1102-30 so I highly recommend it. This 2-1/2" hitch combined with your factory 2" hitch will allow you to use a SuperTruss Hitch Extension like item # TLE1536. There are also many options available for camper tie-downs that I have linked below.

  • Solution for Needing Higher Capacity Hitch Extension for 2021 Ram 3500
When it comes to higher towing capacities and hitch extensions the Torklift extensions are the only way to go like with the part # TLE1536. So to use this with your 2021 Ram 3500 you would need the Torklift hitch part # TLD1111-30 which fits underneath the factory hitch. The install really isn't too bad actually.

The longest extension available that will work with the factory trailer hitch receiver on your 2014 Dodge Ram 3500 is the Trailer Hitch Extender # e48YR. You will need to measure from the center of the hitch pin hole on your trailer hitch receiver to the edge of your truck bed camper to see if this extension is long enough. We have 2 different 2-1/2" hitch receiver options for your 2024 Ram 5500 Cab and Chassis and the correct one just depends on what you're looking to get out of the hitch. The Curt # C15800 is your classic hitch receiver while the TorkLift # TL49YR is a dual stacked receiver that gives you both a 2" and a 2-1/2" receiver. • Recommended SuperTruss Extension for Flat Towing
Thanks for the pictures! My main concern in recommending a shorter extension, like the 36" TorkLift SuperTruss item # TLE1536, is clearance when making turns. The 36" would clear your camper and allow you to install your tow bar without climbing beneath your truck. However, depending on the height of your towed vehicle you run the risk of hitting the rear jacks when you make tight turns. Unless the nose of your vehicle is below the height of the jacks then I recommend using the 48" TorkLift...

The only other extension that will meet your 36" requirement is the Titan Hitch Box Extension for 2-1/2" Trailer Hitches, 41" - 48" Long # RP45018. This extension would have a maximum gross trailer weight of 7,500 lbs/750 lbs of tongue weight at 41" with weight distribution. Also, this does not have lateral-support safety chains like the TorkLift does. When you use a really long extension like the # TLE1536 there is a lot of additional force. • Recommended Weight Distribution System For Torklift SuperTruss Extension
With a camper on your truck it is difficult to accurately measure your trailer total tongue weight because the cargo weight behind the rear axle is actually spread over the frame and not directly behind the rear axle. Based on your trailer information, with a loaded tongue weight of 1000 lbs,...
