  Good news, I can help you find an A-frame jack that has a lower retracted height than 8 inches. One of the lowest retracted height A frame jacks I was able to find is our part # TJA-2001-B.   I looked through all of our available manual A-Frame trailer jacks and the option with the shortest retracted bracket height is the etrailer.com A-Frame # TJA-2001-B. The retracted bracket height is right at 5-1/8 inches from the ground and it has a weight capacity of 2,000 pounds. It doesn't come with a foot plate but it can be added with part # JF-99.   The Round A-Frame Trailer Jack # TJA-2001-B has standard mounting hole dimensions which are 3 inches apart center on center. I went to the warehouse to measure and found the same dimensions. I also used a digital caliper to measure the holes themselves and found that they measured 0.42 inches horizontally and 0.75 inches vertically.
