Hi there, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a quick look at this Thule lighted license plate holder for bike racks. This is going to help keep your license plate in full view while you're using a hitch-mounted bike rack, so preventing your bike racks from blocking your license plate. This will work with most bike racks, bikes, and cargo carriers. The integrated light up here at the top help to keep the license plate visible at night. So I've got a license plate here from etrailer.
So I'll put that in place so we can kinda see how that's gonna look. If I turn off the lights in my studio you can see is gonna be very visible for us. So it is going to meet safety regulations for license plate displays on vehicles. It's gonna pull power from your vehicle's socket with the included four-pin connector here. So we are going to very easily be able to just plug that right in place on our vehicle and get the power for the lights.
We do have these included cam buckle attachment straps that can be secured either horizontally or vertically. So we've got pouches here or holes there that we can loop the straps through, wrap them around our bike rack or cargo carrier. And then depending on if we have a vertical post we wanna attach it to or a horizontal post, how we can accommodate both those. As far as our dimensions go, I'm gonna grab my tape measure here and show you that this is right at 12 3/4 of an inch long, by, we'll call it 7, 7 1/2 inches tall. And then our depth from those lights back, we're looking at approximately 2 1/8 of an inch thick.
This only weighs about 2 pounds, so it's not gonna add a whole lot onto your bike rack or cargo carrier, so you won't have to worry too much about your weight capacity for your hitch. This is made here in the USA, so you can trust it is gonna be made to the high quality standards that we've come to know and trust for products that are made here in the U.S. It also comes with a limited lifetime warranty, so if you we're to have any issues with it you're more than welcome to reach out to us here at etrailer.com. But I think this is gonna be a really great way to make sure that you're staying legal, that your license plate is gonna be visible when you are using those hitch-mounted bike racks and cargo carriers. Looks to be of excellent quality. Lights do work and are bright. Will be trying to create a friction-hinge based mounting system instead of using the straps.
Perfect addition to our bike rack. We carry 2 e-bikes and are covered we needed to ensure that our license plate is visible while traveling, as it is required by law. The holder has enough cord to hang it from the latter or on the back of the bike rack.
I had been looking for an illuminated license plate holder for some time. This ine is perfect. High quality materials and straps are very versatile.
Worked like a charm, simple to attach to my bike rack.

The plate holder still works well, including the electrical harness, and it has held up to periodic use after more than a year. I still wish there was an easier way to remove the primary plate from the vehicle, but I suppose a duplicate plate is that legal? might be possible, in order to leave one on the holder.
