Video Transcript for Hands-On with the 48" Long Safety Chain with 1/4" S-Hook

What's going on everybody Adam here with etrailer. Today we have a trailer and we're gonna be talking about some safety chains. These are really essential and you need them for your trailer just to keep everybody safe. If this ball disconnects it's gonna catch and your trailer is not gonna go down the road. But these specifically are gonna be the Titan Chain Trailer Chains. So we have a couple of different options.

One, it all comes down to length. So we had the issue with this trailer. The ones that we're on here before we're a little too short, just because the ball mount on our customer's vehicle is a step mount. So it's a little bit further back. So length is something that we guys are looking at whenever trying to decide which one's right.

And with the Titan Chain, we have three different lengths. As you can see down here, we have 72 inches, we have 60 inches and we also have the 48 inches. And if you're doing this, it's just one big piece. So basically just measure from where your chains connect to your trailer, up to the loop, and then add a couple inches. 'Cause you don't want them to be too tight, 'cause when you start turning, they'll start to pull and you don't want them too loose 'cause we don't want these hitting the ground.

This is the desired result. So take a mental picture here. That is what we're really looking for. And it worked out really well. These are the 60 inch chains and it works out pretty good.

So going in depth with the chains, one, the link diameter is gonna be about 1/4 of an inch. So that kind of comes into play if you have a setup like this, to where you can remove these really quickly. So if you have this, these chains will work with it because of the link diameter being the size that they are. And another thing to think about is the S-Hooks. So we're gonna have two different options. One's gonna have the safety clip. I just like these just because why not You never know what happens. If you hit a speed bump or run over something, it could hit the bottom of the chain and these could fall off. But with the clip you're nice and safe. So this usually goes up towards the hitch. So these are gonna have a link diameter of about 7/16th of an inch. And as you can see, it's gonna basically fit any trailer hitch that you really have. These aren't really not gonna fit any of the ones that we have. So whenever you're searching, you don't really have to worry about this not being able to fit on top of there. So all you really need to figure out is what length you really need. And then the hooks is just gonna be your preference really, if you want the snappers grab snappers, if you don't, you don't need them. But another thing to kind of think about is the capacity of them. This one's 5,000 pounds. This trailer is about 3,500 pounds max capacity. So the 3000 pound chains weren't really ideal for this setup. And we wanna be a little bit safer whenever we're going down the road. So if you have a larger trailer and you're kind of in the middle, I would definitely recommend kind of thinking about what you're putting on it and maybe going and hopping up to a little bit bigger thicker chain. But at the end of the day, it's gonna keep you safe when you're going down the road. And that'll do it for a look at the Titan Chain Trailer Safety Chains..

Nice heavy chain to replace my current safety chain, which is too short. Thanks.

So far so good. No issues.

I really love this safety chain. It is so much stronger and well made that my original chain. I especially like the built-in clips that prevent the chain from popping off. I would also like to say that I was grateful for how fast I received my chain, after the order was placed. I will continue to use eTrailer for ALL my trailer needs.

This was a chain that was cut in half to gain 2 separate chains, both chains were linked to a larger common ring then welded large ring to tung of 2999 lb. flatbed trailer. The etrailer single chain with 2 (two) S-hooks on each end was long enough to cut into 2 chains to the exact length needed for desired set up.

Perfect! Will last the life of trailer and sure that chains will not break, heavy enough for the worst event, Lord forbid. Building a trailer or retro-fitting a trailer etrailer is the place to shop.

by:

Works great for my needs pulling a small camper. My old chain didn’t have safety clips this is better

by:

Very good Item. Better than described!!!

by:

The chain seems fine, but I can't for the life of me figure out why all the trailer chains I have seen have an even number of links rather than an odd number. Makes it impossible for each side to be of equal length!

by:

Once I found out where to drill the holes in the bumper it was off to the races..Great product..heavy duty very happy with purchase.

by:

Once again great products and services are just a call away!!!
The reviews tell you just how everything is going to work for you before you buy.

by:

Decent quality. I like to support American workers, as I was one of them. These are made in China. I would chose a higher priced one if given the option.

by:

Just what I needed for my teardrop camper build. Very stout.

  • Safety Chains For Enclosed Trailer
We don't have chains for any specific trailer, or chrome chains, though we do have steel with zinc coating. The right chain is going to depend on the length you need, for example the 48" Long Safety Chain with 7/16" S-Hook with Latch - 5,000 lbs # TCTSCG30-748-04x2 or 60" Long Safety Chain with 1/4" S-Hook with Latch - 5,000 lbs # TCTSCG30-760-04x2. I have added a link below to our entire selection of safety chains if these aren't the right option for you.

  • Replacement Safety Chain Recommendation for a 2003 Coleman Santa Fe Pop Up Trailer
I recommend picking up safety chains like the Titan Chain part # TCTSCG30-760-04x2 which comes with 60" long chains rated for 5,000 lbs. Most pop up campers only weigh in at about 2,000 lbs so this should be more than enough for your application. This is a single chain that runs through a mounting bracket on your trailer. If you can give me some more details about the chain length and mounting style I can get something closer to match what you've been using, but I don't have a list of...
