Bolt-on, surge-type actuator is zinc plated for increased corrosion resistance and comes with integrated, heavy-duty coupler. Unique roller design helps reduce resistance. Designed for use with disc brakes.

Features:

  • Hydraulic actuator synchronizes trailer brakes with tow-vehicle brakes
  • Unique roller design reduces resistance during telescoping to create straight-line movement
  • Sturdy, durable steel construction resists bending in jackknife situations
  • Standard, heavy-duty coupler
  • Breakaway kit included
  • Zinc plating provides corrosion resistance
  • Bolt-on installation

Specs:

  • Application: disc brakes
  • Ball size: 2-5/16"
  • Mounting: 3" wide channel tongue
  • Capacity: 8,000 lbs
  • Maximum tongue weight: 800 lbs
  • 1-Year warranty

When you apply the brakes in your tow vehicle, deceleration occurs and momentum pushes your trailer toward the rear of your vehicle. With surge brake systems, the actuator is triggered as your trailer moves forward while the tow vehicle slows. The actuator telescopes, applying force to its master cylinder, which in turn supplies the necessary hydraulic pressure to engage the trailer's brakes.

MAN, THAT WAS QUICK. AWESOME!!!!

by:

Works great.

by:

This actuator is the exact replacement for the model 6. It also came with a solenoid, which was a good surprise.
I had brakes sticking, but not anymore.

by:

Great service by a salesperson (Jonathon) who knows what he is doing. He found that they had the two main parts that I needed and shipped those right out and then followed up and shipped a cover that could be added later.

by:

Installed in the fall - haven't got the chance to tow with it yet, but it was an exact match from our original one.
Everything else from Etrailer has been exactly what was expected so I don't forsee any issues.

by:

Fast shipping and as advertised.

by:

Product works but when I back up. The actuator moves back and the brakes go on! Don’t know how to fix this. Now I put a c clamp on it to stop it from going in.

Thanks for your review of your Titan actuator coupler T4747200, while the C-clamp works, there is a safer way to deactivate the surge brakes on your coupler. You can use an item called a reverse lock out. This will get signal from your tow vehicle when it is in reverse and will NOT apply the brakes on the trailer allowing you to back up. For your Model 6 actuator you can use the T4748800 lock out solenoid, and you may want a cover like T4836800183 as a solenoid shield that will help protect the reverse lock out solenoid. You will need to make sure that the solenoid is connected to the tow vehicle reverse light circuit, so if you have a 7-way on the trailervehicle then you would need to splice in and connect to the correct line. I have included a link to one of our help articles that shows the various locations of the reverse line depending on how the trailer is wired. If you have a 4-way flat, you can convert it to a 5-way taht will splice into the vehicle side reverse wiring, and the kit HM47890 includes both the trailer and vehicle side wiring harness. Another option for wiring the vehicle is to use a 5-Way adapter like part 47515 which will allow you to leave the 4-Way wiring connector on your vehicle and add the reverse light circuit to the adapter when towing this trailer.

  • Replacement for Global Direct GDC80 Brake Actuator
We do have actuators that will work with a trailer that has disc brakes and an 8,000 lb GTW. The Titan # T4747200 may be a great option depending on the hitch ball size you need. It works with a 2-5/16" hitch ball, bolts onto 3" wide channel tongues and has an 8,000 lb capacity and 800 lb tongue weight capacity. I have added a link to our page with each of our 8,000 lb capacity actuators that work with disc brakes for you to take a look at.

  • How to Reset the Breakaway Lever on a Titan Model 6 Trailer Brake Actuator
I will be happy to explain resetting the breakaway lever on the Titan Model 6 actuator, # T4747200. The manual states: Resetting the Break-away Lever: (Refer to the parts diagram in the instructions linked to the right). When the break-away lever (item 7) is engaged, it is in the vertical position. It must be reset before the trailer is moved. First, carefully loosen the pressure line fitting to the master cylinder to relieve hydraulic pressure (Figure 3). Then remove the four bolts...

  • Parts Needed to Add Disc Brakes or EOH Brakes to Tandem 3,500 lb Axles on Boat Trailer
We can get both of your axles set up with disc brakes, and for 3,500 lb axles, since you are converting to disc brakes you'll need a hub-and-rotor disc brake assembly. For the correct kit, as well as the disc brake actuator and brake lines, here is everything you'll need (note for a tandem axle trailer you'll need two of the disc brake kits): - Kodiak Disc Brake Kit - 10" Hub/Rotor - 5 on 4-1/2 - Dacromet # K2HR35D - Bearing Kit for Trailer Brakes w/ 8" or 10" Hub/Rotor - 3,500 lbs #...

We have the perfect replacement for your Global Direct GDC-80 brake actuator. Since you mentioned "down tongue" I believe you were referring to having an actuator with drop. If you have disc brakes, the best option is the Demco Hydraulic Brake Actuator w/ Drop - Disc # DM8758811 and if you have drum brakes the best option is the Demco Hydraulic Brake Actuator w/ Drop - Drum # DM8759411. Both of these actuators have a 4" drop, are compatible with a 2-5/16" hitch ball, have an 8,000 lb capacity...

  • Adding Brake Flanges To An Aluminum Trailer with 2,200 lb Axles
What you will want to do is purchase the part # 4-34 as this is a brake mounting flange designed for 2.2k axles, provided your axle is a 1-3/4" round tube. The brake mounting flange needs to be welded on perfectly square and concentric and if it is off by even just a little bit, this can lead to all kinds of problems with trailer ride, stability, tire, and suspension wear. We strongly recommend that brake flanges be welded on by a professional shop that routinely works on trailers and...

  • Actuator Recommendation for a Triple Axle Trailer Going from Drum Brakes to Disc Brakes
Some drum brake actuators can have the check valve removed or punctured to allow it to function disc brake setups, but this won't work for a triple axle brake setup because drum brake actuators just don't have the volume to activate the disc brakes. Basically you are going to need to replace your actuator since the one you currently have won't be able to activate your new brakes. There is an off-chance that you could replace the master cylinder of the actuator and be able to convert your...

The Titan Disc Brake Kit # T4747200 that you referenced has been confirmed to work on 13 inch trailer wheels like the part # AM20234 that you referenced so it would work well for you. I wasn't able to find any information on the TS3571EZ axle you have by Dexter, but I will say this will fit a Dexter 3,500 lb axle that has hubs on it currently that are inner bearing number of L68149 and outer bearing number of L44649. Pull your current hubs to check the bearings to be sure.

  • Adding Brake Assemblies To A 2010 Triton Bass Boat Trailer
Electric brakes typically aren't recommended since water and electricity don't mix well but people use electric brakes on boat trailers all the time. To start you'll need a brake flange on the axle to mount the brake assembly to. If your axle doesn't have a brake flange then you'll need to purchase a new axle since it would cost more to have it professionally weld on than a new axle. Once you have a have a brake flange we'll then need to know the capacity of the axle to find the correct...

You will need to cut that off of your 2001 Cobalt 240 to replace the actuator since there are no replacements that will fit. • Replacement for Titan Model 6 Trailer Brake Actuator
That is a great photo, thank you; and while there are certain repair parts available for a Titan Model 6, I recommend replacing it altogether. The reason for this is the corrosion looks to have taken its toll on the actuator, and is at the point where a replacement makes the most sense in terms of safety and value. • Adding Electric Brakes To A Triton Boat Trailer With 10" Wheels
I can certainly point you in the right direction. First and foremost we would want to verify that your axle does in fact have a brake flange. Some smaller axles do not come with brake flanges, and this will be required in order to install electric brakes. • Difficulty Bleeding Trailer Brakes with Titan Model 6 Actuator
It does take quite a bit of force to manually push in an actuator with or without the cap on. But the cap should be off when you bleed the brakes. Also, the longer the board the more leverage you can put on the coupler and the easier it will be to move it. I recommend using a vacuum pump brake bleeder # PTW87030 which makes things a lot easier. Also it is worth mentioning that if the fluid has no where to go then the actuator will only push in so far. So if you haven't opened a bleeder...
