Working great. Settled the bounce down and boosted the trailer capacity. It also gave me a piece of mind of what would happen if I broke another spring like I did before I bought these. Functional and added safety.

They worked as advertised.

It is extremely hard for me to give this product a high rating because I was unable to install them. After making measurements before ordering them to be sure that they would fit, I purchased to sets for my tandem axle trailer. When they arrived, I determined the number of spacers needed, and in preparation for installation, bolted the springs to the Spring-Under Axle Bracket. I jacked up the trailer, set the first bracket with spring attached in place only to find that the long U-bolt would only project through the bracket approximately 1/8 of an inch, an inadequate distance to attach it with the washer and locknut. A trip to several local vendors failed to turn up a 5/16” U-bolt of the same width but longer. While the SumoSprings seemingly would improve the ride of my trailer, I had to return them due to this one component. I think the manufacturer should include different length U-bolts just as they supply different length bolts for use with the number of spacers needed.

I got 2 sets of these 5K-8k Sumo springs. I have Sumo springs on my tow vehicle and they are great. items states they fit any axle but would not fit my Dexter 8K axles. These are made for 1 3/4 inch springs and mine are 2 inch. called Super spring and they do not have a bracket for 2 inch springs. I was able to make them work by have a machine shop modify the brackets to fit 2 inch springs. they seem to be doing a good job on my trailer.

It sounds like you may need longer ubolts. The ubolts labeled “H” in the instructions.

by:

As advertised Sumo springs dampen rough road ride a lot less side to side motion also

by:

We’re all of their trailer need you just need to contact the Trailer. They stand behind their word 100%.

by:

Pretty easy install on my tandem axel fifth wheel. I did have to add four additional 1" spacers, one for each spring, to get the additional 1/2" lift desired. To do this I had to buy longer M8X80 mm bolts. I haven't towed it yet but I expect them to perform as promised.

by:

The single best upgrade for our toy hauler and the overall hauling experience. Buy these and install them asap!

by:

Exactly as advertised, easy install, works great.

Very easy to install plan taking big trip in a few months can’t wait to see how they handle. Update to follow.

by:

Sumo springs work great. I was a little skeptical if they would work since the Dexter 5100 lb axles on my trailer have two ribs going across them, I'm assuming for strength. The sumo spring bracket was just wide enough to sit on top of the rib center point. The bracket could be 1/2" wider, it would help. I tapped the bracket in and torqued it. As you can see it didn't go in all the way but seems to be ok. Took a road trip, highway, gravel and a rough forest road. Checked the torque after the trip and nothing moved. Sumo springs helped with the trailer sway and should take some load off the springs and shackles. I am pleased so far with this product.

by:

If you own a camper, and you are planning on towing it on the crappy roads in America, you need these springs to cushion the ride and protect your investment. Install is fairly simple and straight forward. Just take your time and don't rush it.

by:

Only 4 stars since I have only used them on one RV trip so far. I installed these in conjunction with an equalizer upgrade (Morryde SRE 4000) on my 2019 Grand Design Reflection TT. For the one trip I have been on, I liked how these helped cushion the ride of the trailer. I would certainly buy them again.

by:

2020 Cyclone 3 axle toy hauler. Can definitely tell a big difference in how quick the trailer settles down over large bumps like bridge transitions. Things inside seem to travel better.

by:

Not really happy with the product. It just made the ride firmer and rougher. I should have gotten the add on shock kit instead. I'll be removing and selling the Sumo Springs.

by:

My toy hauler when loaded maxes out the 2 8000# axels. These Sumo Springs stop the over travel of the suspension and stops the spring sag that these trailers are noted for. The ride is more under control and there is less effect on the contents.

by:

Easy to install. It definitely improves the ride by absorbing road vibrations and bumps. Also adds some left and right stability

by:

We purchased these SumoSprings for our 2019 Heartland Fuel 250 knowing that they would not fit our leaf spring top plates, but I knew I could modify the mounting bracket to accommodate our RV. For anyone who has Dexter axles with shocks, you most likely have a 5-1/2” wide leaf spring top plate. If you are handy and have an acetylene torch or map gas you can simply heat and bend the inside bracket, drill a 1/2” hole and through bolt it to an existing hole in the top plate. I actually think this is a more secure install. Overall, it would be nice if there was an exact fit for our Rv, but it was an easy fix. Great product.

by:

We have a Grand Design Reflection 5th wheel with the refridgerator on the rear wall, and we kept having issues with the fridge doors coming open during bumpy travel, so we installed the Sumo Springs based on a number of other reviews that indicated it would restrict the trailers bouncing. Total success, we have not had the doors open since the install, and generally feel less bouncing as we travel. The trailer also has less bounce when stationary, an added benefit.

  • Why Is It Not Recommended To Step Up to 8,000LB Leaf Springs Instead of 7,000LB Leaf Springs?
We do not recommend moving from 7,000lb # e64SR to 8,000lb # DX74XR leaf springs as this creates a stiffer ride with more bounce. This causes more shock to transfer inside your RV which can cause damage to the trim and electronics. Instead I recommend adding the SumoSprings # SS26MV for overslung axles or # SS33HR for underslung axles. These help to absorb shock from transferring in your trailer as well as give you more support to reduce sag in the leaf springs. Also adding heavier leaf...

  • Will The SumoSprings Trailer Helper Springs Fit A 2022 Jayco North Point 382FLRB 5th Wheel
The SumoSprings Trailer Helper Springs w/ Line Relocation Bracket # SS26MV could possibly be the correct kit for your 2022 Jayco North Point 382FLRB 5th wheel, you'll just need to verify the orientation of your leaf springs to the axles. The # SS26MV are designed for overslung axles, which means that the leaf springs will sit on top of the axle. If you have underslung axles (leaf springs below the axle) then you'll just need part # SS33HR instead. These kits are for a single axle only...

  • Solution to Help Keep Tires From Rubbing on 2019 Keystone Cougar on Rough Roads
Hey Brian, thanks for reaching out! The measurements you have are similar to the 4-Leaf Double-Eye Spring for 4,400-lb Trailer Axles # DX95CR so it sounds like your leaf springs aren't flattening out as of yet. If you drive on some pretty rough roads with the trailer close to max GVWR then that could definitely be why you're seeing tire marks. I recommend checking out the SumoSprings Jounce Springs for trailers to help soften the bounce from those roads. You'll just need to choose the...

  • Air Spring Suspension System For A 2021 Forest River Stealth 5th Wheel Toy Hauler
Hey Charles, For air springs we currently only offer the Lippert Center Point by Trailair Air-Ride Suspension Upgrade # LC1565391. This system can help improve ride quality by reducing road shock and chucking. It does require standard hangers and the hangers must be spaced either 29 1/2” or 30 1/2” apart, otherwise you'll need to redo your suspension in order to complete the install. We also offer jounce springs that can help in the same way, just without the customization you'd get...

  • SumoSprings Trailer Helper Springs For Underslung Trailer Axles Availability
For a trailer with underslung axles(leaf spring mounted below the axle) you will need the SumoSprings Trailer Helper Springs in either a 3,000-5,000LB Capacity # TSS-106-40 or 5,000-8,000LB Capacity # SS33HR. For your 2022 Grand Design Reflection has overslung axle which means your springs sit over your axle, then you can use the SumoSprings Trailer Helper Springs w/ Line Relocation Bracket # SS26MV. If you have underslung axles meaning your springs sit under your axles, then you'd need the SumoSprings Trailer Helper Springs w/ Line Relocation Bracket # SS33HR instead. • Parts Needed to Add Brakes and Suspension Enhancement to 3,500 lb Trailer Axle
We aren't able to help with an axle replacement as we don't have the dimension axle you need. But we can help with the axle you have now. To add brakes you just need to replace the hubs with hub/drums like the # AKHD-655-35-EZ-K and brake assemblies # AKEBRK-35-SA. This has the 6 bolt pattern you are wanting. Then to move the axles in relation to the leaf springs you'd just need the part # K71-384-00 and you'd be set. Then for suspension support you'd want the part # SS33HR and you'd be set.

They do a great job of absorbing road shock while also working to increase stability by reducing side to side sway. • Will SumoSprings Trailer Helper Springs Increase Space Between Frame and Axle
The SumoSprings Trailer Helper Springs typically install compressed so they do tend to provide more space between the frame and axle in most cases but not by much and this is not really the goal of the system.
