This SmartPlug connector features LED indicator lights that let you know if power pedestals have faulty wiring. It safely detects the presence of reverse polarity or open ground, two conditions that can cause a major electrical hazard and damage appliances. Now you can plug in your SmartPlug cordset to make sure pedestals are safe before connecting your RV or boat to shore power.
The connector uses blue and red LEDs to indicate the status of the connection. If only the blue light is on, power is on and you have a safe connection. If blue and red are on, the neutral has been incorrectly wired, causing reverse polarity. If only the red LED is on, a potentially dangerous ground condition is present. If no LEDs illuminate, there is no power, so check your connections. In the case of reverse polarity or open ground, disconnect your plug and notify management.

Hello, everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today I'm gonna take a look at this smart plug, four foot long, 30 amp female to 15 amp male Marine power cord. Now this will let you connect your boat to shore power with this smart plug multi-point locking system connector. This is a 30 amp female connector and it's designed to plug into the smart plug inlet on your boat. Now, those inlets, we do sell separate on our website. I just wanted to pop up a insert to show you that's what the inlet looks like.
And this would plug right into that. And we do sell those separately on our website. And on the other end, here is a 15 amp wall plug connector. That'll plug in at your dock-side pedestal, or your extension cord. Now this does use the multi-point locking system right here.
You can see you just push both those in and ensures a nice, solid connection. So you push 'em to open it, plug it in release it. It'll lock it into place. The sleeve design on this will help keep the weight and the tension off of the electrical pins and the whole body of the plug bears the weight to keep the points of electrical contact secure. If you notice, there are straight-in connections of a smart plug female one which makes plugging it in very easy, even when it's dark out.
Does use triple weatherproof seals to prevent water corrosion and overheating. And the cable itself is a flexible, heavy duty, 10 gauge Marine cable. Now another, another nice feature on this plug at the very top. There's a L E D reverse polarity indicator light and it'll have two different lights. And basically what that does is when you plug this in it'll confirm the correct connection for you.
So if you plug it in and none of the lights come on that means there's no power at your connection. If you plug it in and a blue light is on, just the blue light is on, that means it's normal power. You're ready to go. If you plug it in, in both the blue and the red light is on at the same time, that means it's reverse polarity. You wanna disconnect it. And if you plug it in and just the red is on that's a dangerous, reverse polarity. So you wanna disconnect it immediately. Construction of this: the external metals are all a Marine grade three-sixteen stainless steel. The electrical pins are nickel plated brass and all the plastics used are UV and heat resistant. If you notice, it also comes with this nice black weather cap that'll snap on, protect the plug from the elements when it's not plugged in. Just push it like that, it latches into place. And you're ready to go. To remove it, just squeeze both connectors here and pull it right off. This part is made in the USA. Few specs again: total length, four feet; amperage, 30 amp on the female end, 15 amp on the male end. And the voltage is 125 volts. Exactly what I needed to get 15 amps into my RV while in storage. I just upgraded to a Smartplug into my coach, and this cord solved the storage “problem.” I just received it today so haven’t had a chance to use it, but I’m impressed with its solid construction.
Arrived well fits well. I use when rv is on driveway. Etrailer price and shipping went well.
Haven’t had a chance to install parts yet but after watching YouTube seems like an easy project. Like the improved design over the factory plug. Fast delivery, quicker than anticipated…etrailer always comes through
Good quailty
This item was originally ordered last summer but was out-of-stock in the inventory and was on back order. Multiple times the manufacturer established a delivery date that then a few days before the delivery date postponed delivery and re-established a new delivery date. etrailer kept me informed via email whenever they received new information from the manufacturer.
etrailer emailed me as soon as they received the item into its inventory, told me when it would be shipped and met their shipping date. The item came on time and I immediately used it to charge my camper van. It is exactly as advertised and I am totally satisfied with it.
This is exactly what we needed. Sometimes we need to plug the trailer into our homes 15amp circuit while getting ready for a trip. This means we don’t have our long expensive cord out for someone to steal! It also means we have a lighter weight cord to manage.
I was hesitant in ordering this pigtail since it was so expensive compared to the actual extension cord it self or other pigtails from other brands. Once I had received it and saw how great quality this product is, I was reassured to myself in not having buyers remorse. Thanks Smartplug for building such a great product.

This product worked great for over a year,and when I sold my RV the new owners were thrilled with their upgraded smart plug.
