Video Transcript for An In-Depth Look at the Snap-Loc E-Track Self-Drilling Metal Screws

Michael: Hi, there. I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today, we're going to take a quick look at these Snap-Loc E-Track Self-Drilling Metal Screws. These screws do have a tip to the end of them that's going to allow them to drill into metal surfaces, so that you can mount your E-Tracks to the metal without having to drill a pilot hole. So, it's going to be much easier than having to go through and drill all your holes and then go back and put these screws in or put other screws in to hold your E-Track in place. You can just easily one shot, drill your screw into the wall to hold your E-Track up.This is built with a washer head for a non-scratch installation and for added holding power.

This does give you a break strength of 600 pounds for your E-Track. So, obviously your E-Track is only going to be as strong as your connection. So, if you're putting a lot of weight on there, you're going to want good, heavy duty screws like this, to make sure that that E-Track is holding to the wall. So, all your things won't come tumbling down on top of you or anything that you have stored in your trailer. Now, this set is going to include 20 of these heavy duty, zinc-plated steel screws. These screws are a quarter inch in diameter and right at a one and a quarter inch long.

So, they are going to do a good job making sure that your E-Track is staying connected to your metal wall of your trailer or garage or wherever it is that you're mounting that E-Track for easier storage. So, that's going to complete our look for today. Again, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Thanks for watching.

Some challenges with getting to start and secure but worked well!

by:

These are probably good screws, but they were too short to go through the 3/4" flooring and bite into the frame steel.

by:

Are not self drilling, recommend you drill pilot holes prior. Do hold once in though.

by:

These self drilling screws are just that. Drilled right into my cargo trailer wall framing. Made installing my E-track easy.

by:

These are nice screws but I bought them too short for my application.

  • Parts Needed to Install CargoSmart X-Track Cargo Rails
To install the CargoSmart X-Track Cargo Storage Starter Bundle # 3481788-S I recommend picking up 4 of the CargoSmart End Piece # 3481745 and then installing it using some screws that match the material you're needing to install this into: - Wood Screws # SL49FR - Metal Screws # SL99FR

  • Self Tappers for Installing E-Track on 2021 Wells Cargo Road Force
Self tappers like the part # SL99FR would work great as they have drill bits on the end which would make it through the metal of your studs and then attach.

  • How To Install E-Track Inside Of A Isuzu Refrigerated Truck
Hey Shawn, The E-track you're wanting to install in the back of your truck is just going to need to be screwed into the studs of the walls or into the floor. You'll want some self tapping screws ( # SL99FR) or wood screws ( # SL49FR) that are just thin enough to pass through the mounting holes of the E-track # e62VR and just long enough to bite into the studs without passing completely through them. The more screws the better the hold so you can load up each hole, even if some holes are...

  • What Screws do You Recommend to Use with the CargoSmart X-Track Cargo Organizer?
I have a hardware solution for you. While the CargoSmart X-Track Cargo Organizer # 3481788-C does not come with screws, we do carry ones that will work great with the organizer. For wood screws, I recommend the Snap-Loc E-Track Wood Screws # SL49FR. If you are using the organizer on a metal application, I recommend the Snap-Loc E-Track Self-Drilling Metal Screws # SL99FR. Both of these parts come in sets of 20 screws.

  • Can Snap-Loc E-Track Self Tapping Screws SL99FR Be Used To Install E-Tracks To Metal Under 3/4" Wood
That is going to come down the thickness/type of metal underneath the 3/4" plywood floor on your trailer. If the metal is the frame or crossmember and is made of steel then the Snap-Loc E-Track Self-Drilling Metal Screws - Qty 20 # SL99FR would be fine for installing the e-tracks to the trailer floor, as you will have close to 3/8" thread engagement, though adding a few nuts and bolts would be a good idea as well. If the metal is aluminum you will want to just use more nuts and bolts...

  • Should Self Tappers be Used to Attach E-Track to an Aluminum Trailer
Aluminum is a pretty soft metal. Especially as thin as you mentioned. I wouldn't recommend self tappers for the e-track. Instead I would recommend appropriately sized nuts and bolts on either side of the track with larger washers.

  • Will Zinc Coated E-Track Bolted to an Aluminum Trailer Cause Corrosion
The zinc plating on the Erickson E-Track # E19148 will actually prevent the underlying steel from coming into contact with the aluminum, so the risk of corrosion of the aluminum is reduced significantly. That being said, you will want to use something like the Snap-Lock Zinc Coated Metal Screws # SL99FR. A bolt, lock washer, and nut combination that is also zinc coated can also be used. Depending on the size of the bolt, however, you may need to expand the holes in the E-Track # E19148.

  • Can I Use the Snap-Loc E-Track Self Drilling Metal Screws to Install On Thin Aluminum Floor
I don't see any reason why you can't use the Snap-Loc E-Track Self-Drilling Metal Screws - Qty 20 # SL99FR to install your E-tracks and the 1-1/4" screw won't be too long. The screws won't stick down a significant enough amount that anything under where you're mounting would risk being punctured.

  • Can Galvanized Steel E-Track Install on Galvanized Steel Trailer
You can definitely install the galvanized steel e-track on your trailer that has a galvanized steel floor, as really the only potential issues are when installing e-track on dissimilar metals. So you can absolutely install any of the following e-track without issue: - 3' Long: etrailer Horizontal E-Track - Galvanized Steel # e35VR - 4' Long: etrailer Horizontal E-Track - Galvanized Steel # e95VR - 5' Long: etrailer Horizontal E-Track - Galvanized Steel # e45VR To install the e-track...
