Air Bag and Bumper Stop Shock Absorption Technology

Shocker Hitch Gooseneck Coupler

Using a built-in air bag and rubber cushions, the Shocker Hitch Air gooseneck coupler acts like an air suspension between your truck and gooseneck trailer. The air bag and bumpers help absorb road shock, creating a smoother, more comfortable ride while also protecting your truck and trailer from wear and tear on the brakes, chassis, trailer frame, and suspensions.

Shocker Hitch Gooseneck Bumper Stop Cushions

The body of the Shocker Hitch Air gooseneck coupler is designed to pivot back and forth, as the air bag and the cushioned bumpers take turns absorbing the road shock. When you hit a bump and your trailer bounces or you brake suddenly and your trailer jolts forward, the unit pivots so that the air bag and 2 cushioned bumper stops can isolate and absorb the energy.

Customize Amount of Shock Absorption

Shocker Hitch Gooseneck Air Valve

Using the easily accessible air valve on the top of the unit, you can adjust the air pressure in the air bag to best accommodate what you're hauling. If you're towing a full trailer, for example, 15-20 psi should get the job done. If, however, you're hauling industrial equipment, you might need to air it up to 25-35 psi to accommodate the heavy load. Once the equipment is unloaded, simply release some air so that your unloaded trailer won't experience a stiff ride.

Shocker Hitch Gooseneck Air Bag

If you happen to get stuck in a situation where you're unable to inflate the bag, there's no need to worry; you can still tow your trailer. Without the inflated air bag, you won't get the full benefit from the Shocker Hitch Air, but you'll still get some built-in cushion with the bumper stops.

Fast Coupling

Shocker Hitch Gooseneck Shift Lock Closed

Hooking up your trailer is fast and easy thanks to the Shift Lock mechanism. Once you slide your gooseneck ball into the coupler socket, simply pull the lever down to engage the locking bars, securing the ball in place. Most couplers have a single pin that slides under one side of the ball, but the Shocker Hitch has thick, locking bars that cover both sides of the ball, providing added security and reducing rattle. Once the bars have captured your hitch ball, insert the included pin and clip through the lever to secure.

Shocker Hitch Gooseneck Shift Lock Engaged

To unhook, remove the pin and clip and lift the lever to disengage the locking bars. You can even attach a pulley to the hole at the top of the lever, so you can easily release the lever from outside the bed of your truck.

Video Transcript for Review of Shocker Hitch Gooseneck Coupler - Air Cushioned Gooseneck Coupler - SHK57YR

Hi everybody, Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a look at the Shocker Hitch Air Cushion Gooseneck Coupler. This cushioned gooseneck coupler is going to smooth out your ride and help reduce wear and tear on your equipment. So whether you occasionally tow or you are doing hotshot trucking, this gooseneck hitch is going to add an instant air ride experience to your hauling. This is going to be a great option for hotshot haulers, or farmers, or contractors, or horse trainers. And I wanna point out that if you have a recessed gooseneck ball, there must be at least a 12-inch by 12-inch opening in the bed for this coupler to work for you.

The top of the hitch ball cannot be more than two inches from the top of the bed. Now, this does have a gross towing weight of 30,000 pounds and a vertical load limit or maximum tongue weight of 7,000 pounds. And this is going to hook up to your 2 5/16-inch hitch ball. And this features a lockable lever here that's going to allow you to connect and disconnect the coupler from the hitch ball. So let me give you a brief demonstration of that.

I do have this currently in the locked position, and so I went ahead and removed this tethered pin and clip, and then I'm gonna go ahead and remove this secondary clip right there. And so that's going to allow me to move that into the unlocked position, and as you saw, those bars slid in, so there's in the locked position, and there we have it in the unlocked position. And so that's going to allow me to easily uncouple when I have it in the unlocked position. On your screen, I'm popping up a few pictures there. So as you can see, when we have this in the unlocked position, as you see there on the top, that coupler is gonna be fully open to be able to sit on your ball or to be removed from your ball.

And then when you move that to the locked position, you can actually see that those pins are going to wrap around that ball, and that's gonna give you a nice secure connection when you're connected. So again, you can simply disconnect by pushing this lever to the unlock position just like that. And then if you want to keep this in the unlock position, you can replace the this tethered pin and clip here to keep that in the unlocked or uncoupled position. But then to couple that back to the ball, you're just gonna move it to the lock position and replace the tethered pin and clip and then we'll replace this secondary clip right there. And now, we'll be secured to the ball.

So this is gonna be really easy to couple and uncouple. And using built in airbag and rubber bump stops here, this coupler is gonna act like an air suspension between your truck and gooseneck trailer. The airbag and the bumpers are going to help absorb road shock and that's gonna give you a smoother, more comfortable ride while also protecting your truck and trailer from wear and tear on the brakes, chassis, trailer frame, and suspension. The body of this coupler is designed to pivot back and forth, and as the airbag and the cushion bumpers take turns absorbing that road shock when you hit a bump, and your trailer bounces or you brake suddenly and your trailer jolts forward, this unit is going to pivot so that the airbag and the two cushion bump stops can isolate and absorb that energy, giving you that smoother ride. And you probably already saw we do have this easily accessible air valve. It's a Schrader valve right here at the top of the unit. So you're gonna be able to adjust the air pressure in the airbag to best accommodate what you're hauling. So, for instance, if you're towing a full trailer, you wanna set this for about 15 to 20 PSI that should get the job done for you. If, however, you're hauling industrial equipment, you might need to air this up to about 25 to 35 PSI to accommodate that heavier load. Once the equipment is unloaded, you're simply going to release some of that air so your unloaded trailer won't experience a stiff ride. As you see here on the front, we do have a built-in greaser, so that's gonna allow you to easily grease up this pivot point, lubricating that, making sure that that's always working to its optimal performance. And this is going to be a universal fit. This is gonna work with your four inch and 100 millimeter round stems with straight or angled pinholes. So we have these three height adjustment holes, and this is gonna be compatible with 10 to 30-degree angle pinholes. By the way, the distance between these pinholes on center is gonna be 2 5/8 inches, and this is where you can adjust this tube for your particular application. So I'm throwing up another picture there on this screen there for you. So I have the pin currently in the top hole there, as you can see there on the left there. So the top hole's gonna be for your four-inch round tube angle pin from 10 degrees to 20 degrees. Then that middle hole, if you put that pin through the middle hole there, that's going to be for your 100-millimeter round tube angled pin, 20 to 30 degrees. And then the bottom hole is gonna be for your round tube straight pin. So you do have that level of adjustability and flexibility there, and that's gonna be very easy to adjust and change to fit your particular application. As you, no doubt, already noticed, this does have a three-inch offset, so that's going to give you that extra clearance that you're looking for between your truck cab and trailer for those sharper turns, making sure that you have that clearance for that. This is made here in the USA, it's made of durable steel, and the steel has been shot-blasted and powder-coated to stand up to corrosion and rust. I think it's gonna hold up really well for you. I do appreciate and really like Shocker's upgraded powder coat finish. It's not a glossy finish, it's more like a textured matte finish that I think looks good in their trademark red color. And so again, I think it's gonna hold up really well for you, protecting the investment here that you're making. Well, I think that's gonna wrap up our look today. I do hope that our time together has been helpful for you. Again, my name is Andy, thank you for joining me.

Just received the Shocker hitch and have not installed it yet. The hitch was received in good shape, however the cardboard box it was in was beat up pretty bad due to the weight of this hitch. Supplier needs stronger/better packaging for thes heavy parts.

by:

Great product, you can really notice the difference when traveling down the rough roads.

by:

Works great, but after a couple of hours the air leaks out, I only put 35psi in it , I might go with something mechanical

by:

We put this on a flat bed trailer 40ft it bucked realy bad when empty on dirt roads. This has helped with the pressure a lot well worth the money.
