Versatile E-Bike Rack for Your RV

Swagman E-Spec

5th Wheels, motorhomes, and travel trailers have different suspensions than standard commuter vehicles. The Swagman E-Spec is designed to handle the extra bounce and sway that results from being placed further away from your vehicle's rear axle. It also gives your bikes 5" higher clearance than most other RV-rated platform racks. The E-Spec is constructed with reinforced steel, so it will easily carry 2 e-bikes that weigh up to 70 lbs each. But it's not just for your RV. You can also install it in the 2" hitch on your car, truck, or SUV.

Padded, Ratcheting Hooks

Padded Locking Hooks

The E-Spec's mast has a pair of ratcheting hooks that hold your bikes securely by the top tube. And because they move independently, you can carry bikes of different shapes and sizes. The hooks have soft padding that won't scratch or scuff your bike's paint.

Sliding Wheel Cradles

Adjustable Wheel Trays

The wheel cradles slide to accommodate bikes with tires up to 5". Hand knobs let you release the cradles to slide along the bike tray and adjust for your specific bike lengths. Each cradle has a ratcheting strap so you can secure your bikes' wheels during transport.

Folding Design

Swagman E-Spec Folding DesignSwagman E-Spec Folding Design

If you're using the rack on a passenger vehicle and want the ability to fold it up for storage, you can remove the RV bolt at the back of the hitch bar assembly and replace it with the included pin and clip. In this configuration, you can fold the rack up when you aren't carrying bikes. This means you don't have to remove the rack to park in small lots at the trail head or in cramped parking garages. You must re-install the RV bolt to use the rack on your RV again.

Swagman E-Spec Folding Design

Whether on an RV or a passenger vehicle, you don't have to remove the rack for rear cargo area access. With your bikes unloaded, just pull up the spring-loaded release lever and fold the mast down.

Complete Security

Threaded Locking Hitch Pin

The ratcheting hooks have lock cores in the release buttons so you can secure your bikes to the rack. Simply slide the hooks over your bikes' top tubes until they click and lock them in place. There is also a keyed-alike locking hitch pin that secures the rack to your vehicle.

I've been looking a eBike racks for about a month and finally decided on this Swagman rack because it's rated for use on an RV. That's what I needed because it will be on the back of my travel trailer. I had it on my wish list on another site but etrailer had it for $[XX] less, so I jumped on it. It was fairly easy to put together, I installed it on the hitch on my truck so I wouldn't have to wrestle with it on the floor of my garage, that made it easy to assemble. This rack is very well built, and is very solid, it doesn't move while on the hitch on my truck (I installed the RV hardware) so I have no doubt that in will be fine on the back of mhy travel trailer.

I did a lot of research on e-bike RV rated bike racks and I can honesty say this was the best choice for me. Its still holding strong.

So far so good! I have used it on the back of my Jeep Grand Cherokee and on the back of our travel trailer. It is a pretty solid e-bike rack. I would definitely recommend this e-bike rack. We did purchase it for using on our travel trailer, but also works great on the back of our cars, which have 2" hitch receivers. On the travel trailer we also installed a Draw-Tite Hitch, along with a Curt 14" hitch extender for 2" trailer hitches and a Malone anti-rattle hitch lock system. We purchased everything from etrailer. I am very happy with how all of this works together for hauling our e-bikes on the back of our travel trailer.

Our Swagman e-bike rack work great all this 2024 summer. We used it on the back of our travel and Jeep Grand Cherokee. It always performed well, with no problems.

Owned the bike rack for a year and would buy it again. I especially like the fold up feature when I’m not carrying bikes. I switch using it on both my RV and Chevy Equinox. On the Equinox when folded my rear hatch has room to clear the rack when opening.

TIP: Note in Florida, the license plate on TOADs being towed can not be obstructed. I solved that by mounting a license plate bracket to the rack and moving my TOAD’s license plate. The rule is especially enforced on toll roads.

Still works great, I do spray the straps with UV protectant and do lube things that move &amp locks.I’d buy it again.

I have pulled my 33’ 5th wheel around 400 miles since I installed my Swagman E-Spec bike rack with a Rad Mini and a Rad expand E-bike on board and have had absolutely no problems. The bikes are held firmly and safely in place without shake or excessive vibration. I have had friends follow closely behind me just to verify the ride and they are equally impressed. This bike rack makes carrying two E-bikes effortless. I can load and unload the bikes by myself without any problem and the “keyed alike” feature make all the locking components quick and easy to access. etrailer delivered without any hassle and their helpfulness in recommending the 4”+ tire adapters was the ticket to making my rack fit one of my bikes.

There is still an effortless process in carrying my E-bikes on my Swagman rack. I now have well over five thousand miles on my camper with the bike rack attached. No worries, no complaints.

Great hitch bike carrier for E-bikes. I carry two on it and it handles them on the rear of my 5th wheel great very sturdy and strong. Nice bike rack.

I got a new 5th wheel camper and the bike rack main arm is to short. My old camper had a bumper and was further away from the rear wall. The new campers have no bumpers. Handle bars hit rear wall of camper. Is there another Tuesday fix for this from the company?

@JefferyK You can use a Gen-Y Stacked Receiver like part # 325-GH-313 to increase the spacing between the bikes and the back wall of the trailer, without lowering the capacity of your trailer hitch by 50% like a hitch adapter would.

Not a great rack for Lectric XP 3.0 Step-Thru e-bike. The bike fits and the rack holds it securely enough, but getting the bike on and off is very difficult, even when using the Swagman Ramp and Bridge accessory.

This is one of the few RV-approved (for travel trailer) racks that can accommodate our 61 lb e-bike. For extra safety margin I'm attaching the heavier e-bike on the inside position (nearest the back wall of the travel trailer) and my lighter traditional mountain bike on the outer position.

I chose this rack because the main RV-Approved competitor rack doesn't work well with bikes having fenders, like the Lectric e-bike does.

The rack holds both bikes securely enough, with a few minor quirks. However getting the Lectric XP 3.0 Step-Thru e-bike into the rack is quite difficult, even with 2 people.

First of all, the racks top-hooks have to be removed in order to roll the bike onto the rack using the ramp. Minor inconvenience but RV-Approved competitor designs don't require this.

The ramp itself is OK and makes it easy for one person to roll the heavy bike up to the rack. But that's where the easy ends. Look carefully at the picture of the rack on its product page, you will see that the tire cradles face to the outside of the rack. This is fine when rolling the front tire up the ramp, then up the first tire cradle, then down onto the bridge between tire cradles (part of the ramp accessory - see etrailer's review video of the ramp accessory to understand what the bridge is). This is where the easy ends - as you continue to roll the rear of the bike up the bridge, the protector cage/bars below the bike's bottom bracket engages into the rack's tire cradle, and the front gear also engages into the tire cradle, causing the bike to get stuck (and the tire cradle to be in danger of a bit of mangling). See the attached photo. So instead of continuing to roll the bike up at this point, one must lift the rear end of the bike so that the bike's protector cage and front gear can clear the tire cradle. Pretty much defeats the purpose of having the ramp, and it is difficult and unwieldy to have to lift the back end of the bike at this point - often causes the front tire to turn and want to go off the bridge (diving down between the rack and my trailer - this actually happened the first time I tried loading the bike). So now it turns into a 2-person operation - one to lift the rear end and another to guide the front tire in a straight line along the bridge.

Then the next bit of fun happens. The front tire engages the very-raised-up side of the front tire cradle, and definitely can't be rolled up. So now the person handling the front end of the bike has to lift it so the tire can clear the big jump up and on to the front tire cradle (see the second photo attached). Don't even try this with just one person as it's near impossible for one person to get the protector cage and front gear clear on the back end while simultaneously guiding the front tire up the big jump onto the front tire cradle. The front end of my bike took another nose dive between the rack and trailer when I tried doing this myself.

Once past these issues, the bike can be secured to the rack with the Swagman Bike Frame Adapter Bar, though the straps holding the tires are actually a bit wider than the distance between spokes on the Lectric XP 3.0 e-bike, so the straps don't sit down completely flat and put some undesirable lateral pressure on the spokes. I wonder if this will shorten the life span of the straps.

I'll also share my opinion that the very wide tire cradles, meant to accommodate up to 5" wide tires, provide a less secure cradling for narrower tires such as the 3" wide tires on the Lectric e-bike and especially on my other mountain bike's traditional-size 26x2 inch tires, where the sides of the rack's tire cradles are too high to give the straps a good grip down on the tires. I think it would be much better to have a choice of two different cradle styles at time of purchase - one for up to 3" tires and another for wider tires.

If I'd known all this before making the online purchase, I likely would have leaned toward the competitor rack even with it's issue with the Lectric e-bike's fender - I think I could have solved that issue more easily than having to deal with this difficult load every time.

Time will tell how well the rack travels.

by:

The rack is very well made and the way it mounts into the receiver greatly reduces any movement within the mount. It does require a little time to figure out the best way to mount your bikes. We will loosen the handle bars and turn them 90 degrees then retighten them. This will prevent them from hitting the back of the trailer. We will be using this rack for our standard bikes. We don’t have e-bikes but purchased this type of rack should we decide in the future to go with e-bikes. The rack is built very well.

The bike rack is great. We are using it now. We have it in the receiver hitch on our travel trailer. Our bikes are very secure and holding stable. I would very much recommend this to anyone.

by:

Very sturdy rack. Holds our two e-bikes which are quite heavy. As far as placing the two bikes on the rack - well, every time we do it we learn something new and I end up taking pictures to help the next time! That’s just a user review. . .the product is great!!!

by:

I reviewed several bike racks looking for one that could be used on the back of our trailer and this was the only one I found that could do the job properly. The only issue is the cradles do not have a wheel stop on the outside so you cannot put one wheel in the cradle and then the other. The bike will roll off the rack. We use a two man loading process to prevent the bike from rollng off.

The E-Spec rack is the best rack we’ve seen and we recommend it to everyone in our Facebook group. I did modify the rack, taking the rise out and making it a straight bar so the bikes are lower and easier to put on.

by:

As usual, this Swagman product is as advertised. I found it to be well made and very sturdy just like our previous bike rack. My wife and I purchased E-bikes, so we had to upgrade to the heavier rack. After several trips mounted on the back of our 5th wheel, no issues.

It works just like the day I got it. HIGH QUALITY. We have even used it on our RV. Love the locking brackets.

by:

Took our trailer on a 10-day road trip with 2 e-bikes on this rack on the back bumper of the trailer and it was great!

by:

I was worried about a rear bumper bike rack for my 2 Lectric bikes bouncing too much but after traveling 2,000 miles, we didn't have any trouble. The Swagman E-spec from etrailer bike rack was made specifically for my RV and attaches to the hitch that is rated at 300 lbs. The bike rack locks the bikes into the rack and I had a cover from [online] to protect the bikes from the elements. Loading and unloading is very easy. Prior to the bike rack, we had to fold the bikes in half and put them in a 80 gallon plastic tub and muscle them into the living room between the slides and that was a horrible experience having to lift them into and out of the RV. The supply chain pandemic issue took place and delayed the arrival by 6 months but worth the wait.

We are still happy with it. We have used it half a dozen camping trips and still solid.

by:

I purchased this Swagman bike rack to haul two electric bikes on the back of our RV. We recently took our first trip with this bike rack and it worked great. The bikes were secure and the rack was stable. The only problem we had was the rack could have had a longer connection arm. The back bike handlebars hit the back of our RV and I had to place something over the handlebar grip to keep the bike from marking the back of the RV.

Still doing great!

by:

One year and it is still doing great. Very strong and have used it to haul two 70 pound Lecteic step thru bikes from Ohio to Texas and to the Smokie Mountains on the back of our 31’ travel trailer. I do add ratchet straps to each side to cut down the side to side wobble. Use it on my truck as well.

by:

Easy to use. Great adjustability. Clamps down well on both bikes, even though cross tubes are not flat across. Holds our two bikes soundly on the back of our travel trailer as advertised.
This rack is heavy - so it takes some muscle to put it in place. However, it threads into position and the ability to replace the pin with a bolt makes it rock solid.

by:

This has been an awesome bike rack. We rack two Aventon ebikes to it. Both bikes at 50 lbs each. I have attached it to both my Ford F150 and our Class A motorhome. It works great on both. There is little to no movement of the bikes while traveling, even behind the RV. It has traveled thousands of miles. Well-made and functions correctly each time.
Pictures of rack on RV with Formosa cover and Ford F150 with rack.

by:

Very impressed with the quality of the Swagman E-Spec bike rack. Easy to assemble and install on the 5th wheel 2” receiver. Solid hitch bolt locking system provided that reduces bike movement to a minimum. Locking in the bikes was very straight forward. I used an extra strap/lock just for my own piece of mind. Watching the bikes through the rear back-up camera also showed little movement over rough roads. Added a travel cover and netting to protect bikes during travel. Highly recommend this product for RV applications.

After 8 long trips since purchasing we have had ZERO issues. Very solid design and proven reliability. Bike cover works excellent as well. When traveling in rain or dusty roads. Bikes remain clean and dry. Highly recommended after a year of traveling.

A great heavy duty bike rack! The rack worked exactly as advertised. I put the rack on the back of a 5th wheel and toured Wyoming with 2 55 pound E-bikes. Watched the bikes with the rear camera and they didn’t move!

by:

This is a very stable platform for carrying two bikes. The build is sturdy with locks for each bike as well as the platform to the car. It is a bit hefty, so I store it on end strapped to a two wheel dolly.

by:

Overall I am satisfied with the E-Spec bike rack. I am confident my new ebikes now won't end up being dragged behind the trailer and they won't get beat up.
- Heavy! But that's required if you want to hang it on the back of a travel trailer.
- Assembly instructions
* Were reasonably clear
* Step 6 should reference Figure 5, not 4. And a note should mention the wheel trays are not all the same (I should know that?).
- Bike Installation Instructions
* Step 2 says put bike on inner position (close to bumper) and Step 5 says use the longer hook with the inner bike. Oops! My rack came with the short hook facing the inner bike! I fiddle-dinked for 10 minutes trying to figure if it was me or you. It was you. I could have removed the two hooks from their bases and swapped them but I just reversed their position on the upright and for my bikes it worked. Later when it is warmer I'll stare at it again.

Pretty much the same. Heavy. And putting the front heavy ebike up and on the stand closer to the truck is a bit much. But it is all me and not the rack.

by:

Great Bike rack. I've used it now for two months both on my truck and the 5th wheel. Very sturdy and safe. Easy to assemble, hook up and load. One small glitch; my 5th wheel has a window in back and the handlebar came close to the window causing concern of window damage, but my wife found a piece of round foam that works great to help this. (see pic) Glad I researched and got this one. Frame adapter bar works simply for step-through bike too.

The reason the Hollywood Racks RV Rider Bike Rack for 2 Electric Bikes # HLY64FR is not rated for use with a travel trailer is due to the fact that it is not designed to withstand the additional forces that are exerted on the rack in that application. With that being said, I recommend going with the Swagman E-Spec Bike Rack for 2 Electric Bikes - 2" Hitches # S94FR. This bike rack is capable of hauling two e-bikes weighing 70-lbs each, and will work great with your 2020 Rockwood 2109S. For...

  • Recommended Bike Rack With Ramp For E-Bikes On A Class C Motorhome
Hi Emily, For a motorhome rated e-bike bike rack that would also have a ramp option I recommend the Swagman E-Spec Bike Rack # S94FR. It has a 70lb per bike capacity and optional ramp # S32YR with an 80lb capacity to help load your heavy e-bikes. It's a frame mount design with ratcheting hooks that clamp down on the frame along with wheel cradles with straps that can fit tires up to 5" wide for a secure fit. Since this will be on a motorhome you will have to remove the pin & clip used...

  • E-bike Rack to Transport Specialized Como 3.0 E-Bikes
For a bike like your Specialized Como 3.0 that has as long of fenders as you have you would need to go with a frame mounted e-bike rack. A wheel mount would need to grab the bike right where your fender is to secure it properly. So between the two racks you mentioned the E-Spec part # S94FR would be what you would need instead of the Escapee # S39SR. If you wanted a nicer frame mounted bike rack the Thule EasyFold XT part # TH903202 would be what you would want. This rack even has a ramp...

  • Best Way to Carry E-Bikes on Travel Trailer with 4" Bumper
While the Swagman Bumper Mount Racks, parts # S80600 and # S80605, do give you some mounting options, these are designed for lighter 30 lb bikes so the bars that hold the bikes up aren't really designed for heavier 60 lb e-bikes. Since this is the case I recommend going with a different setup. For your application I recommend installing the etrailer RV Bumper 2" Trailer Hitch Receiver # e38HR and then using the Swagman E-Spec Bike Rack # S94FR and swapping out the standard trays to the...

  • Highest Capacity Bike Rack for a RV
Hey Brain! If by RV you mean a motorhome, the highest capacity bike rack we have is the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE item # HLY84FR, which tops out at 80 lbs per bike. So you would need to remove some weight like your batteries to get below the 80 lbs limit. You also said your bikes are 67" long hopefully this is from the front of the wheel to the back of the wheel. The Sport Rider SE works with bikes that have a maximum wheelbase of 60", which is the distance between the center of...

  • Recommended Travel Trailer Rated Bike Rack for Two Trek Verve+ E-Bikes
The RockyMounts MonoRail Bike Rack item # RKY10004 is not rated for use behind a travel trailer like your Airstream. You are going to need a bike rack that is built specifically to withstand the extra turbulence and vibrations that happen when you use a bike rack on a travel trailer. For your two Trek Verve+ e-bikes, I recommend the Swagman E-Spec Bike Rack item # S94FR and the Swagman Bike Frame Adapter Bar item # S57FR if yours is a step through style. If you have the models with the...

  • Adapters Needed To Mount Specialized Como 4.0 Step-Thru Frame Bikes To The Swagman E-Spec Bike Rack
To use the Swagman E-Spec Bike Rack for 2 Electric Bikes # S94FR that you were looking at with your Specialized Como 4.0 step-thru frame e-bikes you'll just need to pick up a couple of frame adapter bars # S57FR. These will attach to the seat post and handle bar post and give the ratcheting hook of the bike rack something to grip onto. The rack has a 70lb per bike capacity and is 60lbs so with your 55lb bikes you'd be at roughly 170lbs of your 250lb capacity.

  • Recommended Ramp for Loading E-Bikes on Swagman Bike Rack
I do have an option for you but the only ramp available for a Swagman Bike Rack is the Swagman Ramp and Bridge for Swagman Current, E-Spec, and G10 Bike Racks part # S32YR. This ramp only works on Swagman Current, E-Spec, and G10 models so if you have any other model it will not fit. In which case, our only option would be to offer you a new rack which can accept this ramp. The Swagman E-Spec Bike Rack for 2 Electric Bikes part # S94FR with Fat Tire Adapter Kit for Swagman part # S64679...

  • Bike Rack Recommendation For 2 65-lbs E-Bikes On A 2022 Toyota Highlander
For your 2022 Toyota Highlander carrying two 65-lbs E-Bikes, I recommend the Swagman E-Spec Bike Rack for 2 Electric Bikes # S94FR. This bike rack is capable of handling up to 70-lbs each bike, for a combined capacity of 140-lbs, and can accommodate up to 3" thick tires. If your tires are thicker than 3", you'll need the Fat Tire Adapter Kit for Swagman G10 and E-Spec Bike Racks # S64679, which can accommodate up to 5" thick tires.

  • Why Isn't The Hollywood Racks RV Rider Bike Rack Rated For Use On Travel Trailers
Trailer suspensions are a bit less sophisticated and can put more strain on rack and wear it down, which is why manufacturers test their racks with each style of vehicle/RV to see how well they hold up. With the Hollywood Racks RV Rider Bike Rack for 2 Electric Bikes # HLY64FR not being rated for use on travel trailers the next best option is going to be the Swagman E-Spec Bike Rack for 2 Electric Bikes # S94FR. This rack has a 70lb per bike capacity and can similar mounting style as...
