Built for RVs

Swagman XP 4-Bike Hanging-Style Rack

The Swagman XP is built to withstand the added vibration and stress that comes from being installed on the back of your RV. The base has no moving parts, and the mast attaches to the shank with steel-reinforced brackets. These overbuilt components ensure that the rack can take any punishment that the road may inflict.

Individual Rotating Cradles

Swagman XP 4-bike Hanging-Style Rack Anti-Sway Cradles

The rack has cradles that secure your bikes by the top tube, down tube, or seat tube. Each cradle rotates to ensure your bikes hang level on the rack, reducing the risk of ground clearance issues. You can also adjust the spacing of each cradle to help keep your bikes from bumping into each other.

Swagman XP 4-bike Hanging-Style Rack Anti-Sway Cradles

Soft rubber padding inside each cradle protects your bikes from scratches and scuffs. The padding has grooves on the surface that prevent your brake and shifter cables from getting pinched.

Threaded Hitch Pin and Hitch Adapter

Swagman Titan threaded hitch pin

A threaded hitch pin is included to help eliminate rattle in the hitch receiver during transport. It fits the threaded hole at the end of the shank. To tighten the pin in your hitch, use a 5/8" wrench (not included). Clips are also included to keep each pin in place.

Swagman Titan 2-Bike Hanging-Style Rack Hitch Adapter

You can install the rack in a 1-1/4" hitch or in a 2" hitch. To use it in 2" hitch, simply remove the adapter with the included Allen key.

Bike Security

Swagman Titan 2-Bike cable lock

A lock on the hand knob secures your bikes to the rack. Once locked, the hand knob will spin freely so a would-be thief can't operate it.

Swagman Original threaded hitch pin

An anti-rattle hitch lock (sold separately) is available to secure the rack to your vehicle.

Available Adapter Bar

Swagman Bike Adapter Bar

If you have a women's bike, kid's bike, or any other bike without a straight, horizontal top tube, you will need an adapter bar (sold separately) to properly mount your bike. The bar fits between the seat post and handlebar stem post of your bike to create a top tube so your bike hangs level on the rack.

After reading the reviews, my husband I bought this bike rack for our 2009 RAV4 knowing full well that we were going to be unable to open the cargo door when the bike rack was mounted. So I want to be clear that we are ok with that less than perfect feature, while at the same time let others with a RAV4 know that this is how this bike rack will work with a RAV4 if they get this rack. Also in regard to the complaint about the bolt that inserts in the hitch receiver, I would like to add that the Kotter pin that mounts on the end of this bolt does not stay on well, but the threads in the bolt if tightened well, look like they will hold if the pin is lost. I would like to also point out that there is not a plate on either end of the rack where the 3 bike cradles mount, so if the U-bolts on the cradles come lose, you could either lose a bike or have one slide off the back and hit the spare tire carrier on the RAV. Now with all that said, here's the good so far....once the bolt is tightened in the hitch receiver pin hole, there is absolutely no wobble in the rack. My women's coaster bike fit in the cradle just fine without an adapter. The shipping time was super fast and although the box looked like it had been to war, it was still sealed and intact and the rack arrived in good shape. Since the rack just arrived yesterday, we have not yet had time to road test the bike rack on the back of the RAV loaded with bikes yet. One other selling point for us was the fact that this rack can be used on the back of an RV also.

by:

Great design. Industrial strength.

by:

Sturdy and easy to put together. Just what I need for the back of the travel trailer.

  • Replacement Top Plate and Knob for Reese Outfitter Bike Rack
Swagman once manufactured bike racks for Reese and Hidden Hitch. The Outfitter model was one of those bike racks. If you have the 3 bike version, then you will use the Replacement Top Plate for Hidden Hitch Bike Rack # SP-102 if you have 5 inch measurements on center for the padding. For just the knob if you want to keep a spare on hand, you will need part # P1004. If you have the 4 bike, you will use the Replacement Top Plate for Swagman Original Series 4 Bike Carriers # P113. • What 4-Bike Bike Rack do You Recommend for My 2021 Grand Design Fifth-Wheel Trailer?
I have the answer! You are 100% correct when saying that the Swagman XTC4 Bike Rack for 4 Bikes - 2" Hitches # S64665 is rated for motorhomes and not fifth-wheel. The reason why is because there is much more force/torque exerted on the rear of a fifth-wheel than a motorhome. Unfortunately, the XTC4 does not work on a fifth-wheel trailer application. Also, even if the XTC4 could work, there is only a 3-1/2" distance between the center of the shank's pinhole to the closest part of the rack...

  • Hitch Mount Bike Rack Recommendation for a Jeep Wrangler with Oversized Tires
We have a few hitch mount bike rack options that will work for you. One of the most popular hitch mount bike racks among our Jeep Wrangler customers is the Thule Hitching Post Pro, # TH934XTR. This bike rack measures 13-1/2 inches to the back of the upright mast and about 9 inches to the lower post at the bottom of the mast. Looking at your picture, I don't think the lower post will interfere with your rear tire. I have attached a review video of this bike rack on a Jeep Wrangler for you...

  • Recommended Hitch Mounted Bike Rack for Mercedes-Benz Sprinter RV
The local bike shop was correct in saying that the Thule Apex Swing 4 Bike Rack, # TH9027, and we don't recommend it for an RV application either. RV's in general have more movement at the rear because the distance to the hitch receiver is further from the rear axle. Fewer moving parts on the rack helps isolate possible wobble and wear on that hitch receiver and the bike rack itself. One of the nicest bike racks for an RV is the Swagman XP, # S64940. This rack carries up to 4 bikes and...

  • Can I Use the Swagman XP Hitch Bike Rack on an RV or Fifth Wheel Trailer?
Yes, the Swagman XP - 4 Bike Rack # S64940 can be used with a 2-inch hitch (welded or unwelded) on your 2013 Forest River Wildcat eXtraLite Fifth Wheel. If you need a hitch receiver that is compatible with the XP, I recommend the Buyers Products RV Bumper Receiver Hitch # 337RVA24. The RV Bumper Hitch is constructed with carbon steel and will fit a standard 4" or 4-1/2" square tube RV bumper.

Not all Swagman bike racks are rated for use at the back of an RV or trailer. The non-folding version of the Swagman XP, # S64940, is one of the racks that is rated for RV or trailer use. There are no 5-bike racks that are rated for use behind an RV or trailer. I have included a link to the racks we carry that are rated for RV/trailer use. The highest capacity options are 4 bikes. Many bike racks, including the XP # S64940, have a threaded hitch bolt that will hold the rack tight to the...

  • Best Way to Carry Bikes on 1994 Dodge 350 Camper Van
Hello Erin, I have a solution for you, but unfortunately we do not have a front mounted hitch for the 1994 Dodge Camper Van. Since carrying bikes on the front of a vehicle can impede your head lights and turn signals, as well as potentially add unneeded stress to your vehicle by restricting airflow to your engine, I would recommend another method altogether if possible. If your camper van has a spare tire, I recommend using a spare tire rack like the Malone Hanger Spare T3 OS # MPG2147...

For all of the specifications that you are looking for, I believe that a single arm rack with rotating cradles would be the best option, like the Swagman XP, # S64940. This rack is ultra-sturdy, has a good finish that can be kept up with a bit of spray paint and will allow you to carry 4 bikes with varying frame designs, by rotating the cradles, without the addition of adapter bars. This rack will store in minimal space and installs without tools utilizing a standard 5/8 inch hitch pin....

There are only certain bike racks that are rated for use at the back of an RV or trailer. The Hollywood Racks Sport Rider # HR1400Z is not one of them though. The issue is that the rear of an RV or trailer is further from the axle than on a passenger vehicle. Curt actually stopped requiring the use of the stabilizer strap with their hitches like the Curt # E-100 that you referenced which would fit your 4 inch square bumper. • Recommended 4 Bike Carrier For Hitch on Rear of 5th Wheel
The Curt # C18087 bike rack isn't designed to be used on the rear of a towable. It's not the strength of the hitch that's in question, it's the bike rack itself. Bike racks used on the rear of a towed trailer are subject to much more battering and bouncing than they'd experience on the rear of a passenger vehicle, and the bike rack needs to be specifically designed for that purpose, or it could come apart during transport which would be bad. This being said, we do offer a 4 bike option...

I don't have the distance from the hitch pin hole to the first bike as this would vary from bike to bike.
