Padded, Ratcheting Hooks

Swagman Traveler XC2 2-Bike Carrier

The XTC-2 Tilt's mast has a pair of ratcheting hooks that hold your bikes securely by the top tube. And because they move independently, you can carry bikes of different shapes and sizes. The hooks have soft padding that won't scratch or scuff your bike's paint.

Sliding Wheel Hoops

Swagman Traveler XC2 2-Bike Carrier

The rack has wheel hoops that provide a stable base for mounting your bikes. Each hoop has a hand knob that lets you easily slide it along the tray to accommodate your bike's wheelbase. It also includes a rubber strap on each hoop that secures your bike's wheels to the rack. If you need to carry fat bikes, there are hoops (sold separately) that let you carry bikes with tires up to 5" wide.

Folding, Tilting Design

tilting design

A spring-loaded release lever in the base of the rack lets you tilt the rack with bikes loaded for cargo area access.

Swagman Traveler XC2 2-Bike CarrierSwagman Traveler XC2 2-Bike Carrier

You can fold the mast down for easy access to your hatch. Simply pull the pin at the base of the mast and fold it down in either direction. You can also fold the trays up against the mast for storage. Just pull the pins at the junctions where the trays meet the rack, fold the trays up, and reinsert the pins into the provided holes.

Anti-Rattle Hitch Pin and Removable Adapter Sleeve

Adapter Sleeve

The rack includes a threaded hitch pin and a clip that work with a built-in anti-wobble device in the shank to eliminate rattle in the hitch receiver during transport. You can replace the pin and clip with an anti-rattle lock (sold separately) to secure the bike carrier to your vehicle. It also has a removable aluminum sleeve that lets you convert the rack for use in 1-1/4" hitches.

This should be a good bike rack, have the heavy duty one for our fifth did what it was suppose to do. I ordered this and the reciever hitch for my wife’s 2017 Honda CRV everything went together just like your review videos. Great job!!

by:

Now that it's together I love it. 8mm bolt didn't want to continue into the far side so I tried to realign several times. Finally I just got a long allen wrench and just kept cranking. It threaded fine but was very tight for a few turns. Fits into the 1-1/2" receiver nice and snug and the bikes are held in place very well too. Very solid way to haul your bikes.

by:

It was easy to assemble and install. It's pretty intuitive to use and seems to work well. There is quite a bit of sway while driving, even with the threaded hitch pin tightened. I wonder if squaring up the 2" adapter would help it fit more solidly in the receiver?

I recommend using a anti rattle device like part # RM-061 with a two inch receiver. Or you can use part # RM-061-125 with a 1.25 inch receiver. It will help prevent sway with the bike rack.

by:

Excellent bike rack. Very easy to install and lightweight. I am an older smaller woman who has no trouble loading and unloading my bike. This bike rack is perfect for me!

by:

Arrived quickly. Assembly instructions are OK, but not fantastic. Better diagrams would certainly help. That being said the assembly is fairly straightforward and did not take all that long. Haven't actually used it yet, but it feels sturdy and quality appears to be good. Only complaint so far is the clamp hooks really need a horizontal offset to be able to center the bike behind the car. Since the seat post is typically the shortest point on the frame of most mountain bikes, clamping at that point means the bike is shifted to one side of the car, and in my case it actually extends well beyond the edge of the car (Honda Fit, admittedly small). Offsetting the clamp hooks would allow for better centering.

by:

A little rusty in small spots. Access to the tilt mechanism a little hard when loaded with bikes , good value overall for price. Very secure mounting, almost no wobble while driving!!

by:

The bike rack was well packaged and arrived in excellent condition. Assembly was quick and simple and is a great fit for the bikes.

by:

I like the tilt feature on this bike rack. It makes traveling so much easier to be able to get into the back of my SUV without unloading the bicycles. I make sure a smaller bike is closest to the hatch when loading the rack for extra hatch clearance.

by:

Unfortunately the upper supports were fairly easy to bend as our bikes were stolen by the thieves bending those supports out of the way.

by:

Great product! Arrived quickly and in good order.
Easy to assemble. Bikes held firmly in place, I really like the ratcheting mechanism on the center stem that slides and locks up/down as needed. Tilt mechanism works well and is sturdy. Handy for loading and unloading bikes.

I have this rack on a 2019 Honda Fit for one year. Delivery was stalled for nearly 8 months from order, but I am glad I waited. I love this rack! Price was very reasonable compared to other platform racks, but regardless of price this rack is superb! Very easy to mount and remove from hitch receiver, and super easy to put 2 bikes (Trek Step-thru, and mens road-bike) on and secure so there is no movement at all and no contact between bikes. No more bungee cords and towels for me! I have a wrench dedicated to the hitch securing nut attached to the rack — so from the rack folded up in garage to mounted on car and bikes secured and ready to go, maybe 5-8 minutes, tops. Very decent quality of build also.

I love this product even more after using it for a year! Every time I use it, I remark that I can’t believe how easy it is to use and why did I wait so long to but it. Sounds like a fake review, but I mean it— great product! Not left on car between uses so looks like new except for the pins which have there black paint worn off so there is a little surface rust there, but no big deal at all.

by:

super service from etrailer!... The Swagman xtc2 is a perfect fit on my Hyundai Santa Fe for carrying 2 bikes to the beach. Easy to follow instructions for assembly and fits perfect.

by:

VERY easy to use and set up. I can place rack and load two bikes in five minutes (I timed myself). Even less time to reload bikes after our ride.
The bikes don't swing or move about even on gravel roads which protects the car finish from dings.
Price is great and I like the Swagman Website for this Canadian company.
Tilt ability to get into hatch of our stationwagon only takes seconds. Balanced so it easy to move rack even when loaded with bikes
Wheel wells adjusting screen is stiff

by:

At first I had to use spare rags when putting my bikes on but didn’t experience any rubbing or markings from the hooks that hold the bikes in place when I decided to not use the rags. Still works after a good year of use, and can be easily stored in the back of a car (I own a 2014 Jeep Cherokee).

by:

i had the non-tilt version years ago on another car. simple, effective and affordable.

by:

Extremely surprised at the quick delivery of the bike rack! Assembly was easy and completed in less than 30 minutes. So much easier loading the bikes and really like the tilt feature. Pleased we chose the Swagman over other brands we researched.

by:

Very sturdy bike rack but still light enough to easily handle. Looks great with the bikes on! Bicycles seem very secure! Great product for the price. Shipping was exceptionally quick and package arrived in perfect condition!

by:

I installed & adjusted this product today. I am amazed with the quality & speedy delivery.

I am just getting it together

I just received the XTC2 rack and there are big improvements over the XC2 which we have owned for many years. The XC2 served us well but I had two complaints. One was that it wobbled in the hitch receiver. It was alarming at first but never caused a problem. The second was that the wheel cradle clamps wouldn't stay put unless cranked tight with a pliers. I was happy to find that those clamps on the XTC2 have plastic sleeves that hold the cradles nicely in place without excessive tightening. Of course, the big plus with the new rack is the tilt feature that allows access to the hatches on both our Subaru and Prius Prime. It works very nicely even with two bikes on the rack. The threaded hitch pin eliminates the wobble in the receiver that plagued the XC2. I was a bit disappointed that there is now wobble where the hitch tube joins the main assembly but I added a thin shim between the assembly and the tube that has mostly taken out the play. This flaw could be solved by making the hole for the 12 mm bolt smaller. While the wheel straps on the cradles are a nice feature I probably won't use them. We carried our bikes thousands of miles on the XC2 with only top hooks and never had a problem. Be aware that the nice powder coating on the mast won't last forever because there is metal-to-metal contact with the hooks. Not a problem if you store your rack indoors.

Despite the minor issues, this rack is a great value. What other rack offers the range of adjustment and tilt feature for under $[XXX]? This will be the last rack I'll buy unless I add capacity for two more bikes.

Still works very well except I found that the cradle clamps dont hold on the new model either. I just live with it because we dont change the positions often. I really like the tilt feature.

by:

Rack is nice and well built. However, there seems to be a lot of sway. The center post will move 2-3 inches left or right and while I doubt and hope nothing will fail, it is a little unnerving to see so much movement in your rear view when others I have seen do not move at all.

I have a 2" hitch and there is an adapter that comes with the unit pre-installed. It definitely has some play, but I don't know if it accounts for all the movement.

Otherwise, the rack is easy to use and fits my two bikes well. It takes a little playing to figure out placement of the hooks that secure the bikes from the top. And there are times where I just get it as tight as possible and then throw a Bungie cord on for extra piece of mind.

Thanks for your review! A way to get a tighter fit is to move or wiggle the rack a little as you are tightening it down. This can help get a snugger fit. I hope this helps!

  • Recommended Bike Rack for a 1-1/4" Class I Hitch
I have a bike rack that will work for your Mazda 3's Curt item # C11377 hitch but the Swagman XTC2 TILT Bike Rack item # S64671 requires a class II or III hitch. Your Curt is a class I so it will not be compatible. Instead you will want the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider Bike Rack for 2 Bikes item # HR1000Z. For a great hitch for your 2022 Honda CR-V, I recommend the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Matte Black Finish # e98848. Not only does this hitch provide you with 525 pounds of maximum tongue weight and 3,500 pounds of maximum towing capacity, it is also manufactured here in the U.S.A. Apart from the previous specs, the etrailer hitch installs very close to your rear bumper (about 1-1/2 inches from the center of the pinhole to the bumper face). This is important when considering...

  • Why Is the Inno Tire Hold 2 Not Compatible with a Motorhome?
I have a great solution for you. The reason why the Inno Tire Hold 2 # INH120 will not work with your 2016 Thor Outlaw Motorhome is because the construction of the rack cannot withstand the extra forces/torque that is exerted on the rack when mounted on the back of the vehicle. When your motorhome goes over bumps/makes turns, the forces exerted on the rack increase exponentially in comparison to a shorter vehicle. Unfortunately, there is no adapter that will be able to solve this issue....

To lock the Swagman XTC2 TILT Bike Rack # S64671 to your etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e98843 you need the Locking Anti-Rattle, Threaded Hitch Pin # S64029 you referenced, but I actually recommend picking up the Anti-Rattle Hitch Lock and Cable # S64031 instead because it comes with the same locking hitch pin as well as a cable that connects to the hitch pin to provide security both to your bike rack and the bikes you'll have loaded on it.

For the Swagman XTC2 TILT Bike Rack, # S64671 the distance from center of hitch pin hole to the closest wheel hoop is 8".
