Reese Double Jaw

Secure, 2-Piece Jaw

Unlike the more economical slide-bar models, the rounded, 2-piece jaw on this fifth-wheel trailer hitch inhibits rattle and movement by securely wrapping around your trailer's king pin, resulting in easier hookup and a safer, quieter ride.

Round-Tube Slider

Most often used on trucks with 6' beds, this roller helps to eliminate clearance problems during slow-speed turns. When you are towing a fifth-wheel trailer, your hitch must be situated on the cab side of your truck's rear axle. However, at slow speeds you can use a roller to slide the fifth-wheel hitch (and the trailer) toward your truck's tailgate and past the rear axle, creating enough space between the cab of your truck and the trailer to permit less-restricted turning.

Video Transcript for Reese Fifth Wheel Installation Kit - Universal - RP30035 Review

Today we'll be reviewing part number RP30035. This is the Reese Universal Base Rails and Installation Kit for 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches. It is going to be a 10 bolt design. The base rails are going to provide necessary attachment points for your 5th wheel trailer hitch. The universal brackets are designed so that they fit most applications, and then the adapter brackets can be used to ease installation on certain vehicles. The kit's going to include both rails, four brackets, two larger ones with more mounting options, and then the two smaller ones, and it's going to include all the hardware that you need, all the instructions, and the fish wire that you just thread onto the end of the bolt, and you can bring it through the appropriate hole as needed. It makes it a little bit easier to get the bolts in the right place. Some compatible hitches are going to be Curt, Draw-Tite, Hidden Hitch, Reese, Valley and Husky.

This does work with RBW Li'l Rocker Hitch Fifth Wheel Hitch. It will not fit the Reese Elite Series Signature Series or Valley UBS hitches. It's made from a nice solid steel construction with a nice black powder coated finish on it, so it is going to stand up well against rust and corrosion. That's going to do it for today's review of part number RP30035. This is the Reese Universal Base Rails and Installation Kit for 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches. .

I am very happy with how quickly my package arrived also I am a big fan of Reese products we own a Reese 20K 5th wheel hitch and that performs excellent I would definitely recommend Reese products to anyone.

by:

Was looking for a bolt on kit for bare frame rails for a hotshot truck. These require support in the middle (at least one center bolt in each rail). Ended up having a fabricator weld a plate for support and mount the rails to that. But I guess that's reasonable for a universal kit.

by:

Exactly what I needed. Fit perfect. Installation was not difficult.

by:

This hitch has a feature or two we didn't even expect. It was an easy install and is performing great. Plenty of maneuverability and rock stable. etrailer's service was incredible and stayed on top of the delivery until we got it. We thought they went the second mile to make sure we got our hitch.

by:

This Universal Rail Kit installed with relative ease and the included instructions were clear and easy to follow.

by:

Worked perfect used with airlift AL57298. Didn’t see any picture of universal rails and air bag kit working togther.

by:

Best value for the money! I have used this hitch for a season now and I must say, it's worked out great. I use a Teflon plate with it and this hitch doesn't have much play in it going down the road. I have not had any issues with it sliding when locked.

by:

I am very impressed with the fit and finish. Packaging from etrailer.com was inadequate. UPS man unloaded the package, rang the doorbell and drove away before I got outside. There was a lock washer laying on the ground and a bracket was hanging out of the box. We opened the package and inventoried everything, and to my amazement everything was there. Ordering process was very easy and my order shipped quickly. While on my lunch break at work I added 6 items to my cart and printed it so I could complete the order when I got home. About 4 hours later 3 of the 6 items increased in price. This hitch increased in price by $2, not a big deal I guess. I was able to find this item about $12 cheaper at another retailer and I provided this information to etrailer.com. Within a few hours they refunded me 110% of the difference. I am installing this on a 2002 Dodge Ram 1500 short bed and the instructions are lacking. Maybe a professional installer who has done this many times would not have any problems, but the instructions leave some things to your imagination.

by:

purchased just the rails for 5th wheel receiver as we bought a used camper and the Reese Easy Loader came with it but owner did not want to remove rails from their truck. Technician was excellent in helping with installation and emailed us directions specific to my truck. Shipping was quick and install went well. We had room to use 12 bolts vs 10 so we did. We did install 1" forward in bed as we had room to do it. Better more forward when hauling. The knurled bolts were too short for our truck bed and we called and let them know. We had our own that were longer so no delay in install.

by:

My fifth wheel hitch kit was easy to install and has worked great!! I tow my camper around the Upper Peninsula of Michigan while fishing Lake Superior and Lake Michigan and I have no worries about my fifth wheel hitch doing its job and getting my camper where I need it! Thank you for a great product that allows me to spend more time on the water!

by:

Good product everything fit as it should.good instructions. Good value and free shipping

by:

I installed the kit on a 1997 Dodge 2500. Everything worked exactly as the instructions indicated for my model. I had an existing gooseneck hitch installed, so I needed to make a few modifications to install this kit, but everything worked great.

by:

The product was exactly what I order, and showed up at my house way quicker than what I thought it would. The instructions were very self explanatory the hardware and mounting brackets were all together. That makes it nice for instillation purposes.

Thanks again!!

by:

Installed these rails with the short bed Reese bracket kit for 2015 or newer f150. Installation went well. Instructions were pretty straight forward but measurements from end of bed were not quite right and put the rails too far forward of the underbed brackets by about 2". I actually measured off the cross rails under the bed of the truck after I had installed the brackets.

Helpful hint: after getting a hole drilled on either side of the front rail to secure it to brackets under bed, put the hitch on both rails which will line up the rear rail exactly right then drill the rest of your mounting holes.

The included spacers are not quite thick enough and have come out from between the rails and bottom of the bed a few times even after I tightened bolts so much, bed started to bend. Have to find some other Shem's to make it tight enough.

I would recommend these rails eventhough it took a little bit to get them in the right location.

PS - Be very careful when drilling holes on driver side as you are right over the gas tank.

by:

The kit arrived very quickly, in fact shipping was moved from "5 to 7 days" to "3 to 5 days"and arrived in 5 day. During Christmas rush this was great, and really appreciated. I ask a technician friend to install it for me. It went together very nicely.

I am rating this as EXCELLENT, do to the ease of installation an the escallation of the shipping arrangement. Thank You for a great product and great service.

Very easy to install with a little preparation before you start. I instructions are pretty clear. It took me and my son about 2 1/2 hours to install. I had one in my old f150 and installed the rail kit in my 03 f150. Very happy with the kit.

by:

I sent an email and was very pleased to get a response the next day, It was a universal kit RP30035, I had to make spacers for 3 of the frame brackets, the gaps were all over the map no matter how much I squared it up, all in all I'm pleased.

by:

We received are parts and they were exactly what we order. Will recommend etrailers to friends. Already recommended them to family

by:

The rails are solid and work as expected. Unfortunately it was not clear to me from the description at that "universal" meant that you need to drill through the frame to install and that there was a custom bracket available as an alternative that lines up with existing holes in the frame. While they were very helpful and willing to do a return, the cost of shipping the new product and returning the old made the whole transaction a costly mistake.

by:

I've had this system installed in my 1996 Ford F150 for a year now. I did the installation myself and found it to be relatively easy. I had to remove the rear tires to give better access to the frame, but after I did that drilling the needed holes and bolting in the brackets was straight foward. I use these rails with a gooseneck plate and have had no trouble pulling anything yet.

by:

I purchased this hitch mount to replace my old one, which had become damaged. The mount fit perfectly on the old mount drill holes and worked with my existing 5th wheel hitch. I watched the installation video first for any tips which gave me an idea of what I was up against. I received the item fast and free, which is what I expect from etrailer. Always a pleasure doing business with you.

Thanks again

by:

Original package was damaged by UPS somewhere during transport and delivery. etrailer made it very easy to get the missing part (smaller mounting bracket fell out of box somewhere) and instead of just sending the one part they re sent the bolt kit, all four mounting brackets, and a new pull cord. So basically the entire assembly other than the base rails. Could’nt be happier and will post pictures as soon as it’s installed

by:

GREAT GREAT GREAT EXPERIENCE AND EVERYTHING THAT GOES WITH THIS WEB SITE.....PRODUCT TO PRICING TO SERVICE.....

by:

I installed this kit in my 2006 Silverado 2500HD to hold a Reese 16k sliding hitch. The kit is very well built and had more parts than required to complete the installation. Once installed, works great and am very pleased!

The work itself is cumbersome and a couple things to be aware of. First, I squared and centered the rails as required. Before I drilled in the bed, I set the hitch in the rails and they moved slightly and had to recenter. This only tops a few minutes but I recommend setting the hitch in the rails before drilling. Second, the alignment for the front chassis brackets was challenging. You have to drill the bottom two bolt holes to ensure you can get a wrench in the nuts as the frame is enclosed there and reaching around the tank and brake lines. The instructions were not specific as to which holes to drill.

by:

Any time I have ordered items from etrailer I have been pleased. Items were as described, prices very reasonable to competitive, and fast delivery. I keep them on my address book and an icon on my desktop. Really great company to do business with.

  • 5th Wheel Industry Standard Rails, ISR, for 2017 Ram 2500
For your 2017 Ram 2500, I recommend the B&W Custom Installation Kit, # BWRVK2602. This custom-fit bracket kit lets you mount to existing holes in your vehicle's frame to minimize drilling and measuring. This will reduce installation time and also avoids known obstacles along your truck's frame. Please note the linked installation video below. The overall length 5th wheel rails is different from manufacturer to manufacturer and specific part number. There is not a universal length....

  • Recommended 5th Wheel Rail Kit for a 1996 Chevy 3500HD Cab and Chassis
The cab and chassis frame is not the same as the regular 3500HD so there isn't going to be a custom kit. The frame is more narrow, so you will need to use a universal rail kit like the Reese Universal Base Rails and Installation Kit for 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches item # RP30035. When measuring the hitch height you'll need to have the trailer level and the measure from the ground to the base of the king pin (pictured below). The trailer measurement minus the truck measurement of 36" that you got will give you the height that your fifth wheel hitch will need to sit at to tow your trailer level. For example, if your truck measurement is 36" and your trailer measurement is 53" then you'll need to have your hitch's height set at 17" for your trailer to ride level. Another...

  • What Fifth Wheel Installation Kit Will Fit A 2011 Dodge Ram 3500 Mega Cab Using A Reese 16K Hitch
Currently, the available 5th wheel installation kit for a 2011 Dodge Ram 3500 Mega Cab is the Curt Custom Fifth Wheel Installation Kit, # C16420-104. This kit does include rails. I recommend using the Curt rails since they are designed to work with the brackets included in the kit. This installation kit is compatible with Curt, Draw-Tite, Hidden Hitch, Reese, Valley, and Husky fifth wheel hitches. I have included a link to the installation instructions for this kit below. If your 2011...

  • How to Use a Pullrite Superglide 4400 on a 2015 Ram 2500 with Hitch Prep
The PullRite 4400 part number you referenced is the Superglide hitch that is designed only to fit Pullrite rails. In order to use this hitch on industry standard rails you would need the Pullrite part number 4409 which we don't carry. With that adapter you could use the picture frame adapter for Mopar rail kits part # RP30154 that you referenced.

  • 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch to Fit Under Roll & Lock Bed Cover on 2014 Ram 2500 Short Bed
5th Wheel trailer hitches are height adjustable. You just need to find one that can be adjusted down low enough to fit under the cover on the bed of your 2014 Ram 2500 short bed. Reese Hitch # RP30075 and Reese Hitch # RP30051 are good options since they are height adjustable from 13 to 17 inches. The lowest setting cannot be used since they are slider hitches for short bed trucks but that shouldn't matter with these hitches. You will just need the proper installation kit, # C16427-204. It...

  • How To Install Reese 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch On a 2015 Ford F-150
In order to install the Reese 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch part # RP30047 on a 2015 Ford F-150 you'll want to use the Reese Quick-Install Custom Installation Kit part # RP50087-58 which doesn't require drilling into the frame. That said, you may have turning clearance issues with a short bed application therefore a better option would be the Reese 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch with Round Tube Slider part # RP30075. The Pro Series 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Rails and Installation Kit is not a good match.

The Reese Universal Base Rails and Installation Kit, item # RP30035, will work great in an 8 foot bed 1995 Ford 3/4 ton. The RBW UHS-88-15, fifth-wheel hitch is not compatible with the Reese Universal Base Rails and Installation Kit, item # RP30035 though. You will need to contact an RBW dealer to get the proper installation hardware for the UHS-88-15 hitch. • Converting Reese 16K Round Tube Slider Hitch to Stationary Base
If your Reese 16K slider hitch is part # RP30075 then you can indeed use fixed leg kit # RP30727 to convert it to a stationary hitch and save a bit of weight. If you have the Reese Titan series 16K hitch RP30869 then the correct fixed leg kit is part # RP58449. I confirmed the compatibility of these two kits with the above-referenced hitches with my technical contact at Reese.

  • Travel and Cab Clearence with 16K Rated Reese 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Round Tube Slider
The Reese 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Round Tube Slider, # RP30075 has 11" front to back travel. If you do not have a pin box with at least 13" of reach there is concern you will not have enough cab clearance in turning. This is a 16K rated hitch and therefore considered by many with a smaller 5th wheel RV. Reese has this comment listed on other hitches as well, they just want to ensure you have enough clearance for turning. This is also why it is identified as not for use with a truck...

  • Are Fixed 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches Lighter than Slider 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches
Yes, slider hitches weigh more because of all the extra steel and components in the sliding base. A fixed hitch of the same make and capacity will weigh less. For example, take a look at fixed Reese 16K hitch # RP30047. We have the shipping weight listed at 108 pounds. But for the square tube slider with the same head, # RP30051, the weight is 156 pounds. And the round tube, # RP30075, is 182 pounds. Quite a difference. It will be much easier to move a fixed hitch rather than a slider....

  • Curt Hitch Compared to Reese 16k Fifth Wheel Hitch Recommendation
I personally like Reese fifth wheel hitches more than the Reese hitches. The only thing the Curt hitches really have going for them is they have higher capacities. Reason I like Reese more is that we see more Curt hitches come back with issues here and there than the Reese hitches we sell more of. The head material of the Curt hitches seems to be softer and when you combine that with the wider funnel of them they tend to get chewed up easier. Also we get more question that deal with Curt...

  • Fifth Wheel Trailer Hitch Recommendation for a 2012 Ford F-250 and 2012 Heartland Elkridge Trailer
For your new 2012 Ford F-250 and Heartland 5th wheel trailer, I recommend going with a 16K Reese hitch which will give you plenty of room to spare as far as capacity and will provide you with years of service. To me a standard bed is an 8 foot bed. That would mean you would need the fixed version, # RP30047. But if your bed is 6-3/4 feet long, you would need a slider. The slider that offers the most travel and most clearance for making tight turns is the round tube slider found with the...

  • Can Reese 16k Hitch Install in Curt 5th Wheel Rail C16411-204 Of 2011 Chevy Silverado 2500HD
The Curt fifth wheel rail kit part # C16411-204 that you referenced is a fit for your 2011 Chevy Silverado 2500HD short bed and the Reese hitch part # RP30047 will fit it, but unless your trailer has a tapered nose designed for short bed clearance you'll need a slider since your bed is short. The Reese 16k Slider part # RP30051 would be the better choice. This slider has a square tube, which a round tube slider like the part # RP30075 would be the better choice.

You're correct. The # RP30156 adapter will install into the pucks provided by the under bed factory tow/prep package. The adapter will provide above bed rails for the # RP30051 to attach. Rather than the # RP30051, I'd recommend the # RP30075. The RP30075 utilizes a round tube design instead of a square tube design which will provide a much more smooth transition when sliding. If you need to install a 7-way trailer connector in the truck bed, you can do so using part # 41157. I've linked...

  • Can a Reese Titan Fifth Wheel Hitch Head and Crossmember be Installed on a Square Tube Slider
I spoke to my contact at Reese and Pro Series and he informed me that the Reese Titan head and crossmember are not compatible with the Kwik Slide rollers. If you really want the 16 hitch with a slider you will want the # RP30075 that comes with a new slider as well. The slider is a round tube slider which will operate smoother than a square tube and actually will slide an additional inch when compared to the Kwik Slide # RP30048 that you have.

  • Recommendation for a 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch Installation Kit for a 2011 Chevy Silverado 1500
For your 2011 Chevy Silverado 1500 with 6-1/2 foot bed, I recommend a custom fit 5th wheel trailer hitch installation kit, # RP50064-58. The custom kits take about half the time to install over the universal kit because there is less drilling involved and the underbed brackets are designed to fit the frame rails on your truck. Short bed trucks will require a slider 5th wheel trailer hitch. If the hitch you have is stationary # RP30928, there is a good chance you will not be able to safely...

If you have a long bed truck, a stationary hitch like the # RP30047 would be needed. If you have the short bed, you'd want to use the sliding version, part # RP30075. This particular hitch uses a slide bar jaw, which...
