Drastically Reduce Chance of "Death Wobble"

Exact Center Reduces Chance of Death Wobble

Jeeps are completely customizable, making them like building block toys for adults who like to play outside. Lift kits, big wheels, big tires, and heavy-duty shock mods let you go wheeling with your Jeep club through the backcountry; even mall crawlers love the cool flex of a custom-built rig. But it all comes with a price. If you've modified your Jeep for off-road use, you've undoubtedly experienced the violent shaking of your steering wheel known as "death wobble." Even stock Jeeps are not completely immune to this spectacle.

That rapid shuddering of your front end when you hit a bump or pothole on the highway can be caused by improper alignment, unbalanced tires, or loose steering components, any of which could occur from hard use or modifying your ride.

The Exact Center has a tandem gas spring that will constantly work to keep your Jeep centered. Because it's always working, it's able to stop that wobble before it starts, so you can actually enjoy your adventures.

Back Up Your Flat Towed Jeep

Exact Center lets you back up your towed Jeep

The Exact Center is the first and only steering stabilizer that uses a gas spring. While this is great for day-to-day driving because it gives you more control and better steering, an amazing side effect of this type of spring is that it allows you to back up your entire rig when you flat tow your Jeep behind your RV.

Backing up without an Exact Center can cause jackknifing

If you've ever flat towed your Jeep with your RV, it probably didn't take you long to learn how difficult it is to back up with a vehicle in tow. Because the front wheels on your toad want to freely turn as you're reversing your rig, jackknifing is almost certain. Even when you're backing up carefully, the front wheels will freely turn, and this can bend or destroy your tow bar. This can happen quickly and is often unpredictable due to terrain differences and ground obstructions.

Installing the Exact Center on your Jeep will help keep its tires in line while you're going down the highway, but more importantly, if you're an RVer, it will also allow you to carefully back your rig up without risking damage to your Jeep, motorhome, or tow bar.

Exact Center vs. Other Steering Stabilizers

The Exact Center works better than other steering stabilizers because it's always working to prevent unwanted movement.

Where other stabilizers react to movement, Exact Center works to prevent it

Other steering stabilizers slowly activate to control steering only after your Jeep has already begun to wander or make a turn. Basically, other steering stabilizers are reactive - they fight against the unwanted movement, but only after the movement has already started. They will get your Jeep back in line and absorb shock while doing so, but they still allow some play in the steering because of their soft centers, which can cause the steering to feel spongy.

Exact Center uses a nitrogen-charged tandem gas spring to apply force right when you need it

Roadmaster's Exact Center is proactive. It uses a nitrogen-charged gas spring that applies full force right when you need it. This helps prevent the unwanted wandering, wobbling, and white-knuckling you typically get when driving your Jeep. The improved responsiveness makes it as much fun to drive your Jeep as it should be.

Installed the product on a 2019 Jeep Wrangler. The vehicle would not maintain lane and when I would try to move the vehicle back to the center of the lane I had to force the steering to move. Had the front end aligned and the problem didn’t go away. The vehicle would also pull to the left and then pull right. I was constantly struggling to maintain the lane. Tried to contact Roadmaster tech support by email, no response. No one answered the phone and the phone would keep ringing. Called customer service, nice person, related there are only 2 tech support persons and they don’t have time to answer the phone. Instructed me to let the phone ring about 15 minutes and I could leave a message. I’ll have to remove it, expensive lesson!

2018 Jeep JL Wrangler Unlimited

super easy install and super easy adjustment. works as described

Hey RV'rs.... I upgraded from the Roadmaster stabilizer and the difference was phenomenal... Prince Edward county to Key West with minimal steering correcting

Works as advertised. Steering is much better and more responsive

We put this on a 2002 Holiday Rambler pusher with about 70,000 miles. I looked at this system a few years ago but I wasn’t sure it would make much of a difference. Wow was I wrong ! We were leaving for an out west trip and so I thought it would be a good test. First off the coach never handled (bad) it just wasn’t great. I would say that this cleaned up about 80% of the steering wheel (sawing). I literally had to retrain myself not to constantly over steer the coach and let the system recenter me. I found myself giggling as I would start the day’s drive because it made that much difference. My only regret is that I waited 12 years before trying this steering stabilizer. It was simple to install (did it myself) and I didn’t even need to adjust it. I went for a test drive previous to installing and made note of where the steering wheel needed to be when going straight, then set the wheel in that position when I installed the stabilizer. Still amazed something so small could make such a difference.

This it the second Roadmaster stabilizer I have purchased from Etrailer. Other was for our older 2011 motorhome and after having it I did not want to drive without 1. This is different than prior unit- big factor is so much lighter and easy to adjust, so far working perfectly…

For what this cost,I notice no difference in the steering handling from the prior factory set-up. My RV mechanic tells me it's because I have a shorter motor coach at 32 foot. It just gets blown around and handles like a a short wheel base vehicle.

Our mechanic told us what we got was not a steering stabilizer but more like a cushion. My husband said it did tighten up the steering somewhat.

Driving our 30 ft. Class C motor homes, is like driving a sports car, haven’t had steering problems with road ruts, no more white nuckle driving, sure help driving between big
rigs. I glad I waited on them during the Covid shortages instead of buying some other product. You need to put ty raps on the end of the boots that’s keeping it in place. Great investment.

I really like the way the vehicle handles after finally getting it centered. I had issues with the rubber boot constantly sliding off one side or the other. This would cause major vehicle pulling one way or the other especially after one heavy rain storm. I placed hose clamps on the boot and clamped it to the steering stabilizer, that fixed the issue.

Tips for installation;
1) Drive and
find straight/center with masking tape as described; DO NOT SKIP THIS STEP or rely on if the wheels just look straight.
2) Wire brush (with drill attachment) U-bolts to remove rust.
3) Spray with PB Rust breaker type product and let soak on U-bolts
4) Remove U-bolts with torque wrench to help determine torque setting
5) Follow remainder of etrailer video instructions as they are clear and correct EXCEPT; the black end pieces in which the shock screws into should be set to a thread depth you are comfortable with prior to install to leave room to perform fine adjustments. I reset bracket to make sure the threads had plenty of bite.

The hardest part is the fine tuning. I have only put approx. 10miles on it at this point searching for center as I did not do step #1 at first and had to reset the bracket on the drag-link to ensure proper thread depth.
As far as performance; Not sure how I feel about it yet. Does hold straight but requires more effort during turns and constant effort to maintain the turn. My rig takes a lot of mico adjustments on the steering wheel going down the road to keep straight and I am concerned this will cause more fatigue rather than less. Getting ready for road trip and will report more after.

As far as Etrailer; Excellent communication, quick shipping, good instructional video.

Super easy install on a 2019 Leprechaun 319MB ,Class C RV. Hardest part was taking off the old hardware. Followed the instructions and test drove at 60mph and it drove totally straight and did not have to make any micro adjustments. A very well made product.

Great product, fast shipping. Follow up as soon as I use stabilizer.

easy to install on my 2011 e450 super duty jayco grayhawk. test drive proved good control. will know more when towing our jeep grand cherokee.

Installation was easy. Only had to adjust it a couple
times to get it dialed in. The motorhome handles a lot better now.

I experienced more steering issues with this on.
I had it inspected and reinstalled by three separate installation sites.
I now have it sitting in a cupboard. Waste of money. Major regret

make sure steering wheel is straight before you start. test drive was vastly improved. almost no wander. my roads suck in the country, so its really hard to tell how good until i get on a real highway.

I can always count on e trailer for the right part at a good price. In addition, their product knowledge and customer service is outstanding.

I wish I had installed the stabilizer years ago. My motorhome is so much easier to drive.
A great product.

Made steering worse.

This was my second stabilizer for a 38 ft class a motorhome. Big improvement from past experiences. Much more balanced stabilizer because it's not reliant on pushing in one direction for centering.

It helped the driving of my 38’ Motorhome 100%.

Auto repair shop had to remove it to get the steering corrected on my motorhome and put the original back on

I added this Roadmaster exact center stabilizer to my 2022 Entegra Odyssey 26M class C RV and it was a game changer. I felt like I was driving a car i didn’t have to keep making huge adjustments with the steering wheel and it helped so much when pass Semi trucks. It also helped on roads that were rutted. I didn’t feel like I was going all over the road. I think that the combo of this stabilizer and the Sumo Springs that I added to the bump stops on the frame (1000 lb front springs, 3000 lb rear springs) have made RV travel way more enjoyable. No more white knuckle driving.
