Filling the Valterra RV Water Tank
One of the 3/8 inch ports is open on the Valterra RV Water Tank # R8030 and is plugged by the red cap like you see in the accompanying photo; this is where the tank would be filled. You would not want to modify the opening to fill up the tank, instead what you can do is use the Valterra ABS Tank Fill Kit with Threaded Cap # RK909 to make filling the tank easier.

There might be someone who makes one that small but none of ours are. Additionally, all of our heating elements like the Replacement Screw In Heating Element with Gasket for Dometic Gas and Electric RV Water Heater item # DMC49FR are specific to certain water heaters.

How to Correctly Orient the Valterra RV Water Tank Part # R8030
There are a total of six 3/8" threaded ports on the Valterra RV Water Tank part # R8030. There are two on the top of one end and two on the bottom of the other end. There is also a center port on each side. Only one of the holes comes tapped from the factory which is the one with the red cap on it. The other ones would need to be punched out to use. You could use the Valterra RV Water Tank - Non-Toxic - ABS Plastic - 30" x 8" x 16" - 15 Gallons # R8030 as a gray water tank but gray water tanks usually have a larger drain hole to ensure that no food particles clog the drain line. This tank only has 3/8" threaded fittings to install the drain line. It would be a gravity drain and there are multiple fitting locations to allow for different positioning of the tank.

Cleaning Valterra RV Water Tank # R8030
Mix one cup of bleach to four gallons of water for a 15 gallon tank like this. Add the bleach solution to your tank, then fill it up all the way with fresh water. Let it sit for a day and then drain all of the water out and flush with clean water at least three times or until the bleach smell is totally gone.

For example, the 15 Gallon Valterra RV Water Tank # R8030 measures 30" long x 8" wide x 16" tall overall so you'll want to measure under your Coachmen to make sure this will fit.
