These locks are solid!! Very well made construction and good looking. Although the cable should have been a bit longer!!! Also the bolt that holds it in to place in the ratchet arm could have been better, something custom with their own tool To prevent further unscrewing of the bolt.
The keys are smooth in operation.
Cable locks appear to be decent quality. I wish it came with a cap that goes over the locks when not in use to keep out water and grime. The transfer 1 lock set shows the cap I am referring to. I am currently trying to find something that will serve the same purpose. The "security" bolts that hod the locks in is a torx type with a pin in the center which is a typical type of anti-theft bolt. The hitch pin lock seems like it could easily be removed by force or by shimming, but I guess it will keep honest people honest. Overall I am happy with the purchase of this product as an upgrade to the Kuat Transfer 3 Platform Rack.
This review is based more on etrailer service than on the product itself. I had ordered the Cable locks and Hitch Lock for the Kuat Transfer 3 Bike Rack. When the package arrived, the label with its contents were correct, however, what was inside the package was incorrect. I contacted the company and informed them about their error. I also advised I needed the product by Friday morning (this was Tuesday morning I was on phone with etrailer) as I was leaving for family vacation Friday at noon, and needed to use their product. I inquired about them having the product shipped overnight, since this was their mistake. They would not ship the product overnight and assured it would be delivered by Friday morning (not sure how they could guarantee UPS's delivery schedule). Needless to say, the product did not arrive until early Friday evening. Once installing the product and loading up the bikes, we were finally on our way in rush hour traffic. The product itself I would give 5 stars. Etrailer customer service a 1 star. I don't understand that as a company you would not want to fix your mistake right away and make the customer satisfied.

Wonderful product, no problem hauling 29er mountain bikes. I was concerned because of the low price, but Kuat hit it with this one. Going to Moab tomorrow from Durango and I have complete confidence in the product. Buy the locks they work excellent.

The locks have been flawless, I will certainly purchase your product again if needed in future.
These locks give us the piece of mind to be able to keep the honest thieves away. Good enough to go in and eat something. But wouldn't deter someone who wants your bikes pretty badly.
I ordered my Kuat Bike rack & it was here in 3 days. Very impressed with the service. I saved over $ 70 from my local bike shop!!

The Kuat Bike Rack works great. We have taken it cross country several times & used the lock system in several big cities. If I had any issues it would be that the rack is quite heavy. I’m sure lighter materials would increase the price considerably so that would be the trade off. I recommend the rack to anyone interested.
Excellent product. I’ve had it for a year and it has held up well. I feel much safer with my bikes locked to the rack and the rack locked to my vehicle. And because it is so easy to use, I’m always using it whereas when I had a separate lock, it didn’t always fool with it. With that said, if someone had the time, they could easily uninstall the locks I suppose... but like most locks, it will not prevent a determined thief from stealing your stuff... I like that the locks are keyed to match and keyed to match the hitch lock too.
This compliments my Kuat Transfer 3 well. It is relatively secure, and hides away in the swing arms when not in use using magnets. The same key unlocks the hitch and the cable locks. My only complaint is that the cables are about 6 inches too short. Otherwise, this would be perfect.
This cable lock system is totally unsecured. With a T25 Star-shaped Wrench anybody can remove the only screw who keeps the cable assembly attached to the rack. Another issue is that lock cylinder has printed the key number on it. Anybody can order one from Kuat and remove the bicycles easily. It's exactly the same think Thule does. Cable locks installed rattle, extremely poor design. Horrible rattle with hitch lock installed. The people who design all this system should be fired and Kuat should recall this product immediately. If you want to protect your bikes you should consider another way to lock 'em. NOT RECCOMENDED!!!!!!
Product was exactly as advertised. Easy to install and works great. The only reason I am not giving it a 5 star rating is because I had to put a drop of epoxy resin in the star nut so it could not be easily removed by someone with a star wrench. However, if someone wants to steal your bike all they need are bolt cutters or a hacksaw and they can steal any bike from any bike rack in just a few seconds.

The Kuat bike rack locks would indeed be pretty easy to defeat. Keep in mind that locks are intended for keeping honest people honest. If a thief is determined to steal your property, theyll get it. The idea is that the thief will see the lock and then hopefully move on to an easier target.
Actually lock is still doing great until now . I purchase another kuat bike rock for my other car and try to purchase again another lock but kinda expensive compare the first one . Even my new purchase one kuat bike rock is almost the same price of my 3 kuat rock . For now just use a cable to protect my bike from the rock . Hopefully soon price of 2 cable lock will go down so that I can buy again. I bought also my hitch from you . Thank you asking

Great product, and easy to install. The only problem I had is the smell of it. I would've given it five stars if it wasn't for very strong smell (kerosine?). It's overwhelming...got it on my hands, got a slight headache from it. This is the smell that usually comes from "made in China" products.

The locks will provide reasonable travel security as cable locks on my rack.
The team at etrailer is fantastic, they were super helpful and attentive in resolving some service issues with my shipment, I definitely recommend them.
Great concept, not super well executed though:
- the bike locks are a bit short so you can only reach the frame and not get through the well.
- the attachment part could have been better waterproofed.
- the attachment part is only secured by a torx screw that you can find on pretty much any bike tool... So not the most secured.
I would recommend adding actual bike locks and maybe even forgo that product all together.
We purchased a Kuat Transfer 3 bike carrier and 3 locks to secure the bikes to the carrier. We are very pleased with etrailer and their products. I highly recommend this company. Thank you, Heidi M, for the great service you gave us.
Very convenient to install and use, but the bike locks would not hold up to a determined thief. They are held to the rack bar using plastic.
Great service. Product was exactly as it was described (kuat transfer 3 locks) and for much less than the kuat site direct. I highly recommended purchasing through etrailer. Happy customer.
These are a great idea but after a year of use, the locks are hard to turn, even with lubrication, and the magnets don’t hold the heads in so they often fall out. But a more fundamental problem is they’re just a few inches too short to fit easily around adult mountain bikes with slack head angles. I’ve stopped using them and just cable up now.
Just received the locks which went on 'without a hitch', so to speak. These are better made and have thicker cables than I imagined, and I am glad to have them. I am hoping to get a lot years out of them.
Pros: It fits really well with the rack. It feels like builtin. Also it is really easy to lock or unlock the bikes.
Cons: The bolts for securing the cables to the rack are not very secured. The bolts have torx heads but the pin in the middle is too short. It looks like anybody with a regular torx screw driver and unscrew them.
Great lock. Looks good with Kuat Transfer 3. My only complaint, as many has before, is that the lock is secured with a torx nut. It can easily be removed by anyone with the right tool. I would not leave my bikes unattended for too long.
Works just fine. Very convenient having locks right where you need them! Definitely recommend getting these if you have a Kuat rack.

After one year, the product is still working as good as the day I installed them. I was able to find some caps to go over the locks when not in use to keep rain and grit out when not in use. Overall still happy with the cable locks and the Kuat Transfer 3 Platform Rack.
