If you've ever stepped into a camper that has standard metal steps, you've probably felt that scary springboard effect that makes you reach for the handle. That bounce occurs because those pull-out steps never touch the ground. Fold-down steps have adjustable legs that steady the steps on the ground, so you can feel safe using them. Also, fold-down steps store behind your camper door, which means they aren't left out in the elements to rust or warp like factory steps.
But what makes these MORryde steps different from other fold-down steps, like the Lippert SolidSteps? The StepAbove has a couple advantages over the SolidStep.
First, the MORryde steps can be detached when you need park your camper in tight spots. If you have to park close to another vehicle in a storage lot, for example, there might not be enough clearance to deploy your steps. With SolidStep, this means that you can't deploy the steps and now they are blocking your entryway. MORryde steps can be easily detached by sliding the pins out of the floor hinges, which allows you to lift the steps out of the doorway so you can slip inside if needed.
Second, unlike the SolidSteps which have a solid backplate on the top step, the StepAbove has no backplates blocking the gaps between each step. This makes it easy to sweep the steps free of dirt and debris before folding them up in your doorway, so you aren't stuck cleaning up your entry after every hike or trip.
Fold-down steps are typically installed on travel trailers and 5th wheels. The fold-down steps from MORryde install inside your camper's door frame and lift up to latch into the doorway for storage. To ensure that you choose the correct size for your application, follow these 3 easy steps:
Step 1: Measure the Entry Height
Measure from the doorway threshold on your camper to the ground. For these steps to work, you will need an entry height between 30" and 33-1/2".
If you find that you have a smaller or larger entry height, there are other step assemblies that fit entry heights ranging from 25" to 42". (See table below.)
Step 2: Measure the Doorway Width
Measure from the inside of your door flange to the inside of the door flange on the opposite side. Your doorway will need to be between 23-3/4" wide and 26-1/4" wide for these steps to work.
If it turns out that you have a wider or narrower doorway, there are other step assemblies that fit doorways ranging from 21-3/4" wide to 30-1/2" wide. (See table below.)
Step 3: Measure the Threshold
Measure the rise of your threshold. The distance between the floor and top of the threshold must be between 5/8" and 3/4". If the height of your threshold is outside of this range, the doors may not close properly.
To allow room for the hinge plate, there must be a gap of at least 3/8" between the threshold and the bottom of the entry and screen doors. If the gap is too narrow, the doors may not close while the steps are down.
If, after taking your camper's measurements, you find that these steps will not work for you, use the table below to determine which part number you need.

Steps were very easy to install and feel like good sturdy steps. There was 1 fault, out of the box the bottom step was dented in on the bottom lip. Must have been when it was put in the shipping box or something. Nothing was wrong with the box when it was delivered. That was a little disappointing but still in usable condition. They are easy to use when deploying them and putting them away.

Stairs are still working great. Easy to setup and very sturdy. Great improvement.
Love them! Easy to install, had to modify our screen door but that was no problem.
Matches the stock rear stairs on my Grand Design with a better (one handed) latching handle. There's no comparison to ground touching stairs, they're SO much more stable! I'll take it!
EASY to install if you take your time and measure everything!
The videos of the MORryde steps were so helpful. Was able to install and use within 15 minutes! What a difference going from two wobbly steps to three solid stairs!

After a year of use it’s the single best investment we made for our camper. Simple to use, easy to adjust the height, and solid when going in or out.

Good as new. This has been a great upgrade.
stairs work great once installed did have to modify the screen door to make it close correctly. othe than that all good installation took about 20 minutes.
We finally got around to putting this on our camper, and turns out we received a used and returned product.
It does not work, as all the metal parts are bent and twisted.
I would highly recommend not ordering from this company.

The steps have been great. I had ruined my original steps when I moved the trailer without pulling the steps in, Lol. These replacement steps have been very reliable and easy to use. Plus I did the installation myself (60 year old female), which was quick and easy. Really like the steps.

Very Well! We have adjusted to the requirement of manually lowering the stairs, when we need to stop. However, the additional safety of these stairs is excellent!
I was pleased to receive my steps. Everything was in the box and I had it installed in about 30 minutes. I was very impressed with the quality of the stairs. I normally like to see a product in person first but the reviews were pretty good. Very happy.

My steps are still working great and looking good. The quality workmanship was well worth the price and was very easy for me to install.
The product arrived a bit damaged, and the box was pretty beat up! All in all, it’s a good product. I would suggest maybe packing the product a bit better to allow for protection against UPS!! Lol
Best purchase ever. Easy to install, I mean I did it! So much nicer for us and the dogs to get in and out of the trailer. Helps a little with reduction of the rocking in the trailer as well as a bonus.

20 minutes to install. Replaced factory assisted lifted stairs. Be sure to raise step system before driving off.
The steps are very sturdy which is what I was looking for. However, when installing (I had hinge 2) it tells you all the steps to take. When steps are lowered it tells you to make sure doors close. However it does not tell you to make sure doors close when steps are raised. So I got it all installed (very easily) but then went to close the door and door would not close. Hinge side of door the screen hits on the hinge of the steps not allowing closure. I tried adjusting the step hinge in different degrees but still could not get it to work. I ended up not locking that hinge into place and only having the hinge on the otherside keeping steps in place. Not a perfect solution but the only way I could make it work.

Still like how sturdy the steps are. I would like to find a solution to fix the hinge that I am not able to use just to feel a little safer that steps are not going to come loose in transit. But so far so good.
Great upgrade giving better ground clearance while boondocking. VERY easy install. I also got the storage box to fill the void. Works great as well.
Steps are awesome, etrailer customer service is excellent. Make sure you fold the end of the hinge pin underneath before screwing down. In the picture you can see how not to do it.
Best purchase to compliment my RV and safety of others using the steps. Easy to install with minimal time.
THESE STAIR ARE EXCELLENT BUT my door would not close- no way no how. The bottom of the door would require removing at least 3/4 of an inch to clear the mounting bracket. I tried moving into different positions but nothing helped. I was not willing to butcher my door to make the steps work. The door wouldn't ever properly seal again and it would have looked terrible. E-Trailer has been exceptional in the return process so far and I have nothing but good things to say about E-trailer. In fact, I've already ordered a set of quick connect steps from them. I've been buying since 2018 from etrailer and I will continue. Wish I would have snapped some photos to post but I didn't. Again--awesome steps--just didn't work for my application unfortunately. 2017 Pioneer DS310.
The factory steps aren’t strong enough and feel flimsy.
The install took 15 minutes and is much more comfortable & safe for the family and guests
