Most standard pin boxes are constructed of steel and are built with the sole purpose of connecting your fifth-wheel trailer to your tow vehicle. There is no cushioning built in, so a factory pin box doesn't do anything to provide a comfortable ride when you're hauling your fifth-wheel trailer.
This MORryde pin box, however, is built with an internal rubber spring that absorbs road shock and vibration at the connection point. So if you're driving on unpaved roads or uneven pavement, this pin box will prevent any road shock and vibration you encounter from transferring from your tow vehicle to your fifth-wheel trailer and vice versa. In other words, the rubber spring takes the brunt of the impact so you and your towing setup don't have to. And because this unit uses a rubber spring instead of an internal air bag like some other upgraded pin boxes, there's no maintenance required.
Although this pin box can tow up to 21,000 lbs, the internal rubber shear spring is optimized for trailers that range from 14,001 to 18,000 lbs. A rubber spring built for 21,000-lb trailers would be too stiff to provide any cushion for an 14,000-lb trailer, while a rubber spring built for 14,000-lb trailers would be too flexible for a 21,000-lb trailer. To get the best results from this cushioned pin box, the sweet spot is a trailer in the 14,001-lb to 18,000-lb range.
Chucking, the back-and-forth jerking movement you feel in your cab when towing, occurs most frequently during starts and stops and while making turns. A typical, factory pin box creates a rigid connection without much give. So when a harsh stop occurs, all of the trailer's forward momentum gets forced through that stiff connection, slamming the king pin in the hitch and jerking your truck around.
To combat this, glide pads are built into the MORryde pin box that allow the skid plate to shift up to 3" forward and backward and 1-1/2" side to side to compensate for some of that violent motion so that you don't have to feel it in your cab.
This MORryde pin box is a direct replacement for your existing Lippert Rhino pin box, so the installation is very straightforward. After removing your old pin box, the MORryde can be mounted into place using the same hardware and bolt holes used by the factory pin box.
Because of the weight of the unit, you'll want a couple of friends to help you lift it into place during installation. Once the hardware is securely bolted down, you'll be ready to go.

Shipping from Etrailer was right away but had a little delay with the shipment because the semi truck could not get up my road. Taking off the Rhino pin had a little trouble as one of the bolts was cross threaded, which I have read from others also having the same issue. The Morryde came with all the hardware and with two people had it changed out in about an hour. Took it for a small drive and really seems to make a big difference, will get it out for a longer drive soon on my next trip. The new pin box went in the same position as the old one and did not change my level or bed clearance.
MORryde makes a fantastic Pinbox! I have been a e-trailer customer many times over and always find the customer care from start to finish is great. We recently purchased a 2024 Brinkley Z3100 which came with a Rhino Pinbox.
I hated it! Lots of chucking. Our other 5th wheel a King of the Road has the MORryde on it and pulls like a dream. I had asked the dealer at time we made our new purchase about putting on the MORryde on it and I was told it could not be done.
Don’t ever take just one persons word as gospel and further looking into it, there is definitely a conversion available and thanks to the folks on my Brinkley Owners page and the folks at e-trailer, I ordered it and it is a perfect fit. Definitely takes 2 guys to put it on but I’d say its a 2-3 hour job.
Our install took us about 5 hours as one of the original bolts with the Rhino was cross threaded. Can’t wait to get out and tow with our new MORryde!! They are the best!! Thanks e-trailer for your help!

Not a very good ride, a lot of chucking sensation.. Should have kept my Rhino pin box.
The hitch is great. The fact that etrailer only offered one shipping method was disappointing. Upon placing the order, requested a faster more reliable shipping method. This was not an option. The item arrived the Thursday after the estimated Monday delivery. Tracking proved that the item sat in warehouse depots for 11 of the 14 shipping days. This was very frustrating.

I am sorry for any confusion. With these items being so large and heavy, they are required to be shipped via pallet through freight.
Worth every penny. Much better towing e xperience.
(Mrs. Brinkley) Our New Brinkley Z2900 couldn't be happier with Her new Pin Box from MORyde, the Chucking is a lot less noticeable and my F350 doesn't have to take the punishment either. Thank you etrailer and your support in helping me find the appropriate pin box need in our application. hope this helps others with the he most obvious decision if they want to improve their ride.

Took almost all the porpoising out of it. I truly think all rigs should come with them from the factory.

Replaced Rhino pin box with this on a Grand Design Solitude S-Class 5th wheel. Easy to install w/easy instructions including torque requirements. Improves the ride significantly and feels more robust than the Rhino. The 5th wheel plate is wider but it is also about 60 lbs. heavier than the Rhino. Would recommend.
Big difference from the rhino box, no more chucking makes better towing. Peace of mind
The price is great and it arrived without any damage. I haven’t installed it yet but hope to soon. Shipping was far too slow, even given Covid. If it was in stock I think it should have shipped within a week, not three weeks after ordering.

The Morryde pin box is a real game changer for reducing chucking,and improving the ride in the truck. Tried aGenY and it just wasn’t working for me. Went back to the Morryde. This is my 2nd Morryde and they work!

It has been a year since putting on the Morryde pin box and I could not be happier that I made the switch. The ride using the Morryde is so much better than Rhino pin box, highly recommend anyone looking to change from Rhino Pin box to just get the Morryde.
