How to Determine the Lift Capacity You Need in a Jack

A trailer jack lifts your trailer high enough at the tongue to allow you to couple it with your vehicle. Usually, your tongue weight is about 10-15% of your gross trailer weight (GTW). For example, a 10,000-lb trailer has a tongue weight of 1,000 lbs to 1,500 lbs. To raise the tongue of a trailer this size, you'd need a jack that can handle a static load of no less than 1,500 lbs. And, yes, it's okay to have a jack with a weight rating that is higher than your trailer's tongue weight. In fact, a jack with a higher capacity should operate more efficiently, allowing you to spend less time cranking and more time fishing.

I installed this on our wood splitter. The splitter came with a lame metal post that was near impossible for one person to flip out of the way when towing. This swivel jack works perfect for attaching the splitter to our four wheeler to move it about our property. The jack holds the splitter while in use just fine.

by:

As usual with etrailer, this utility wheel is extremely well built and heavy duty! Probably way overkill for my log splitter, but with having to many birthdays, it should be much easier to move around the property!

Never have issues with ordering and using the products from etrailer.
Always recommend them, as with this trailer wheel.

by:

I have it on a jets,I trailer, the double wheels make it very maneuverable even on non paved surfaces.

by:

I love this trailer jack! It works perfectly for my low 12’ utility trailer, replacing the original twenty year old light weight jack. The installation was super easy, but I did watch the product installation video, and took all of 10 minuets. The fit is perfect and the side crank is so much better than the old top crank, which would hit the spare tire when using. The wheels make it super easy to roll around and maneuver. I highly recommend this to anyone needing a replacement jack. It is much heavier duty than expected for the price and well worth the cost. Excellent product!!!

by:

Finish looks durable. Sturdy packaging. Smooth operation.

by:

Fit like a glove.. Way stronger than i thought the lesser expensive one would be

by:

2 wheels are better than 1

by:

Perfect! Husband loves it. ( He’s using it for his Yardmax Log Splitter)
Really good quality. Website was easy to use.

by:

I bought 3 of these and hooked them to the bottom of my backyard trampoline.
It lets one person "jack up" the trampoline and move it around when mowing.
I've had them a year and they show no signs of rust, and have weathers well.

by:

The extra wheels is an easier moving the trailer around. Really makes the moving of the trailer so much smother.

by:

Heavy Duty well made swivel Marine Jack w/ dual wheels exceeded my expectations.

by:

Great transaction!

by:

Smooth operation easy install.

by:

This jack has worked perfectly after one year of use.

by:

Didn’t have the unit I ordered but sent an email they had one equal to it. Thank you for the great service

by:

Excellent replacement for my stock jack, the dual wheels move on my gravel very easy

by:

We just recieved the Trailer tounge jack today. I have a good feeling this will be the last one i need to order. It is very durable. My guys break these things every 2 months. The ordering and shipping process was great! I will order all our parts from you guys from now on,
Thank You

by:

This is just what I needed.

by:

needed a two wheel jack great price

by:

Great jack for the price.

by:

Build is better than expected. Wheels rotate independent of each other with no binding. Crank is abundantly easy, pin latch is very secure. Using this on a homemade large duck house) chicken tractor and just drilled 2 3/8 holes through a vertical 2x4 and used existing hardware.

Its been a year and this has still been a solid purchase. Outside in the chicken house used once or twice a week and constantly in the weather it has no rust, no bending, no issues at all really. The small plastic wheels like to collect mud but it s right off with a few taps.

by:

worked perfect.

by:

Quick delivery, solid construction.

by:

My application is very unusual in that I'm using the wheel jacks to lift and move a modular little log cabin around in my shop as I build it as a modular structure. The item description was very thorough and the quality of the product was outstanding. The customer service was outstanding as well.

by:

This is a great product for the money. I have a 16 ft. utility trailer and the wheeled Trailer Jack sure comes in handy to assist in hooking up the trailer to trailer the ball fully loaded. Great Quality. easy to swing out of the way when finished.

  • Rebuild Kit for the RAM Round Swivel Marine Jack Part # MJ-1500B-DWL
It sounds like you have the Round Swivel Marine Jack part # MJ-1500B-DWL which is the only 1,500 lb dual wheel, round trailer jack that I am aware of. If this is the case then you will want to use the Replacement Sidewind Handle part # MJ-1000B-HD and the Replacement Gear Kit for etrailer and Ram Round Swivel Marine Jacks part # MJ-1000B-GR. I have attached a rebuild video for you as well.

  • Replacement For Handle "Bushing" on Etrailer Marine Jack
For the etrailer # MJ-1500B-DWL Marine Trailer Jack, if the "bushing" you are referring to is a small fitting that has a 1/2" round hole on the inside and is square shaped on the outside to fit in the square hole in the jack tube, then you can use the Fulton # F0933301S00 Replacement Handle Kit which includes that part. That part is not available seperately. If you additionally need the replacement cap on top of the jack you can order the etrailer # MJ-1500B-CP cap. Annually you should...

  • Looking For Dual Wheel Jack With Low Retracted Height
Hello Molly. As far as the dual wheel trailer jacks go, out best option for low retracted height is the Ark Xtreme Off-Road Swivel Trailer Jack # ORJW350D. This has a very sturdy dual wheel setup and the retracted height is only 9-1/2". The Ark jacks are super solid and easy to maneuver. Just Keep in mind that this jack has a lift capacity of 770 lbs so you will want to be sure that your trailer does not exceed this rating.

  • Replacement Jack Handle for etrailer Jack # MJ-1500B-DWL
If the jack you had was the part # MJ-1500B-DWL the correct handle is the part # MJ-1000B-HD. This jack is very common out there so it's most likely what you have but you'd have to look for identifying info on it to determine if it's correct or not.

  • Recommended Trailer Jack with Lower Retracted Height for Landscaping Trailer
I looked through our selection trying to find a similar jack to the MaxxTow MT70149 with a retracted height less than 14-3/4 inches and found a couple of good options for you. You didn't say exactly what height you need, however part # MJ-1200B has a retracted height of 12-1/2 inches. The weight capacity is slightly less, at 1,200 pounds but that's probably still plenty for your trailer. It also offers 11 inches of travel which is a 1/2 inch less than the MaxxTow. A second option is...

  • Will the Fulton F2 Trailer Jack # F1413040134 Fit a Trailer With a 2 x 4 Frame
I do have a solution for you, but since the mounting brackets for the Fulton F2 # F1413040134 have specific bolt holes it won't be compatible with your 2" x 4" frame. Instead, I recommend going with our Round Swivel Marine Jack # MJ-1500B-DWL which offers up to 10-3/8" of travel and is rated for 1,500 lbs. This jack is compatible with trailers that have a frame height ranging from 2" - 4" as you can see in the attached review video.

  • Where is the etrailer Swivel Jack # MJ-1500B-DWL Manufactured?
While we do have some great U.S.A.-made boat trailer jacks, the etrailer Round Swivel Marine Jack # MJ-1500B-DWL is manufactured in China. However, for a super close U.S.A.-made model, I recommend the Dutton-Lainson Swivel Marine Jack # DL67MR. This jack comes with the same 1,500 pound weight capacity and a similar bracket heights of 13" (retracted) and 23" (extended). As far as compatibility, the jack fits trailer tongue heights up to 24-3/4" inches tall and square trailer tongues up...

  • Using Trailer Jacks To Transport A Yakups Kayak Carrier
Thank you for the picture. That kayak carrying device certainly does look cumbersome. Quite the interesting contraption. While generally we do not recommend modifying products like this, but I am happy to help if I can. With the bar being only 1" thick, the bolt on brackets we sell are not going to be sized correctly. I do agree that having it welded would be your best option. I would like to think that this crossmember piece will be strong enough to hold up the weight of the carrier...

  • Recommended Replacement for Shelby 1,000 Lb Boat Trailer Jack
If the trailer is heavy, or the ground is uneven, it will be hard to move regardless of which jack you use but if the bearings are wearing out in the old one then a new one would surely take some strain off the user when moving. I recommend a dual wheel jack for increased stability, the Round Swivel Marine Jack w/ Dual Wheel part # MJ-1500B-DWL which can simply be bolted to the frame once the old jack bracket is cut off. It has a zinc coating so it will be great for marine applications....

  • Marine Grade Swivel Jack Certification
There are currently no established standards for marine jacks like # MJ-1500B-DWL in the US. Europe does have the "CE" standard, but our jacks have not gone through that process. With that being said, we do fully test our jack design to insure that they meet (and in most cases) exceed the ratings that we assign to them. We also do periodic random testing from our production to ensure quality and meeting of the capacity limits. The Round Swivel Marine Jack w/ Dual Wheel # MJ-1500B-DWL...

  • Recommended Replacement Boat Trailer Jack
Thank you for the pictures, I went through all of the jacks that we currently offer to find a matching bolt pattern and unfortunately was not able to find one with a 5-1/2" x 3" pattern. Looking at the pictures the bolt holes do look threaded but there's not enough space between the bracket and frame to add on a nut to fully secure the jack anyway. In my opinion the best solution here would be to angle grind the welds of the old bracket and remove it. You can then paint any exposed metal...

  • Trailer Jack and Winch for 3,000 Pounds or Less Boat Trailer
Since a jack doesn't need to hold the weight of the entire trailer it's pretty easy to get one rated for more than what you need. the 1,500 pound bolt-on swivel jack # MJ-1500B-DWL or 2,000 pound weld-on # TJP-2002S-B will be enough and are both great options. It's the same for a winch as well. The winch doesn't need to support the entire weight of the boat but needs to be strong though to pull it along your rollers.
