Specs:
This aluminum wheel comes with steel inserts in the lug nut wells. The inserts are pressed into the aluminum, and they help prevent the holes from wearing down over time. This ensures that the wheel stays secured to your trailer hub and that you won't have to constantly retorque the lug nuts.
Determining the Bolt Pattern
The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.
To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: "5 on 4-1/2" means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)
On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: "8 on 6-1/2" means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)
Measuring the distance from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

Hello, everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at this Lionshead 16 inch by 6 inch Liger matte black aluminum trailer wheel with the 6 on 5 1/2 inch bolt pattern. Now, this is an aluminum wheel. It's durable, lightweight, and rust-proof. We mention it's the attractive Liger Series wheel, which you can see is a six-spoke design.
Has a matte black finish to it and then they do a machine edge on the spokes and even on the lip. They do use an automotive-grade clear coat finish on the front to protect from scuffs and scratches. Now, one of the nice features I like on this wheel is the lug nut holes. They do use pressed-in steel inserts and that's designed to help keep your wheel securely in place on your trailer hub. Basically, when you go to install this on your hub, you put this over the bolts, put your lug nuts on when you torque 'em down.
Those steel inserts will prevent the holes from elongating or wearing down, so it eliminates the need for constant re-tightening of your lug nuts. If you notice over here, the valve stem is included. It's pre-installed. Now, the center cap is not included. If you do want a center cap, we do sell those separately on our website.
You do wanna make sure just to get a center cap that'll have the same diameter as this pilot hole here. Because when you install your center cap, it will go through this hole. The diameter on this pilot hole is 4.25 inches. This wheel does meet the DOT, Department of Transportation, specifications and the SAE J1204 standards. A few dimensions on this we're gonna measure for you is the diameter, which on a wheel is always measured inside to inside.
And then we'll also measure the width. So we'll get our tape measure here. And for the diameter, if you see inside to inside, there's your 16 inch diameter measurement. We spin it, we measure the width. Again, it's inside to inside or bead seat to bead seat. 6 inches wide. Now, the bolt pattern on this wheel is a 6 on 5 1/2 inch bolt pattern. And if you wanna measure that on a wheel that's an even number of lugs, like in this case six, it's pretty simple because your lug holes are directly across from each other. So when you go to measure it, you just start at the starting hole measure starting at the center all the way across to the hole right across from it center to center. This is gonna measure 5 1/2 inches, so that means it's a 6 lug, 5 1/2 inch bolt pattern. Does use a wheel lug size of either a half inch by 20 or 9/16 by 18, and the weight capacity on this wheel is 3,300 pounds. But that should do it for a look at the Lionshead 16 inch by 6 inch Liger matte black aluminum trailer wheel with the 6 on 5 1/2 inch bolt pattern.
