This aluminum wheel comes with steel inserts in the lug nut wells. The inserts are pressed into the aluminum, and they help prevent the holes from wearing down over time. This ensures that the wheel stays secured to your trailer hub and that you won't have to constantly retorque the lug nuts.
Determining the Bolt Pattern
The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.
To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: "5 on 4-1/2" means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)
On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: "8 on 6-1/2" means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)
Measuring the distance from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at this 15 inch by five inch Eagle matte black aluminum trailer wheel with a five on 4 1/2 inch bolt pattern. Now this is an aluminum wheel. It's durable, lightweight, and rust proof. You can see we mentioned it's the Eagle Series, which is a five spoke design and a full matte black finish. They do use an automotive grade clear coat finish on the front to protect you from scuffs and scratches.
Now, one of the nice features I like on this wheel is the steel inserts that are pressed into your lug nut wells right here. These are designed to help keep your wheel securely in place on the trailer hub. Basically what happens is when you put this up onto your hub, your bolts will come through here, you put your lug nuts on there, torque 'em down, and those steel inserts when you torque it down, prevent the holes from wearing down over time, eliminates the need for constant re-tightening of your lug nuts. If you notice right here, the valve stem is included, it's pre-installed in the wheel. Now the center cap is not included.
We do sell those separately. If you do want a center cap, you do want to get one that'll match the same diameter as this pilot hole right here. 'Cause when you install your center cap, it will go through this hole. The diameter on the pilot hole is 3.19 inches. Now this wheel does meet the DOT, Department of Transportation specifications and the SAE J1204 standards.
Now I do want to measure two dimensions for you. We're gonna measure the diameter, and the diameter on the wheel is always measured inside to inside. So if we take our tape measure, and if we go inside to inside, you'll be able to see there's your 15 inch diameter. And the width on the wheel is the same way, inside to inside or bead seat to bead seat, there's your five inch width. Now the bolt pattern on the wheel is a five on 4 1/2 inch bolt pattern.
And if you wanna measure that on a wheel that's an odd number of lugs, like in this case, five, what you wanna do is pick one of the holes, let's say this one, and then you're gonna measure across to either one of these holes. But when you measure, it's from the center of the starting hole to the furthest edge of the hole that you measure to. So on this wheel, it's measuring 4 1/2 inches. So that means it's a five on 4 1/2 inch bolt pattern. Wheel lug size they use on this is a half inch by 20, and the weight capacity on this wheel is 2,150 pounds. But that should do it for a look at the Lionshead, 15 inch by five inch Eagle matte black aluminum trailer wheel with the five on 4 1/2 inch bolt pattern.

I needed a new wheel for my TT after having one jettison off the trailer somewhere along the highway after a camping trip. etrailer had the right one at a fair price and quick delivery.
Wheels look just as expected. Wheels are shipped in a cardboard box without any protection for the front of the wheels. Two of the four have scratches.
They fit great. Came on time. And look great on my fifth wheel
