Replaces the 5,500-rpm motor from your Stromberg Carlson electric landing gear. Designed for use with models LG-1 and LG-2. Can also be used with Lippert, and Venture landing gear. This motor was the exact replacement for the original. It was very easy to install. Just 2 bolts and 2 wires to deal with.
My old motor was clunking when I tried to extend the landing gear under load. Because I was able to manually crank the gear down I determined that the gearbox and bevel gears were OK so the slip clutch in the motor must be the problem. Unfortunately, when I installed the new motor the same thing happened: Clunk..clunk..clunk. After doing some more Google research I discovered that this issue could also be caused by lack of lubrication on the jackscrews that move the legs. I couldn't see any grease zerks so I needed to find way to lubricate them. Here's what I came up with:
First I hooked the 5th wheel up to my truck and retracted the landing gear all the way. I used the crank for this because it allowed me to feel the resistance when I hit the top. Then I removed the pins and leg extensions so I could access the jackscrews from below. Next I cut a piece of 3/4 ID copper pipe about 30" long (I used copper pipe because that's what I had. PVC or anything with a 3/4" ID would also work). I partially filled pipe with grease and slowly slipped it over the jackscrew, keeping my thumb over the end to keep as much of the grease inside the pipe as possible. This was a messy job and I got as much grease on me as I did on the screws!
When both sides were greased I ran the legs up and down a few times to distribute the grease then reinstalled the leg extensions and pins. No more clunking!
I think the process could be improved by adding a grease zerk to the end of the pipe and pumping the grease in that way. I plan to do this and make greasing the jackscrews part of my annual maintenance.
I would suggest that anyone having a problem with with the slip clutch clunking try lubricating the jackscrews before buying a new motor. I would have saved 120 bucks had I done so. As it is, I now have a spare motor which hopefully I'll never need!
It works as well as the factory original but both are slow lifting my 5th wheel. Also not quiet at all. Most other rigs I have noticed have much quieter (and quicker) lifts.
fast shipping good packaging. Motor fits perfect and runs fine but clicks under load similar to old motor but not as bad. I must have something else going on with the landing gear. Maybe overloaded or jack screws need lubing.
This was not the right motor for what I needed. But after further questioning I found out my motor for an Atwood Camper Jack was discontinued. I was able to modify this motor to fit and it works fine.
Received the new landing gears with motor and had to install a month later due to weather and the flu. It was a breeze to install with a minimum of hand tools. The staff at Etrailer did a great job of selecting the exact parts I needed and sending via expedited mail. Took a photo of old parts before removal as instructed by staff so I could put the new parts in correctly. The new parts were of high quality and exact match. They went in easily. Took about 2.5 hrs with a few breaks included. See photo of a happy camper with new landing gear and motor.
I ordered this landing gear motor and gear box on a Monday. It was delivered on Wednesday at noon. From Missouri to Boynton, Virginia in just 2 days UPS ground. Unbelievable!! I installed gearbox and motor in 15 minutes and was able to get my camper back off my truck and enjoy the rest of our vacation. The new gear box is made of aluminum instead of plastic and actually fit better than the original one.Thank you so much Crystal S.
this crossed as a direct replacement for my old motor however it won't lift my trailer. it slows to a stop and doesn't even have enough power to lower the trailer with its full weight on it.
Quality parts and great service.
I used this motor & switch as an upgrade to my Atwood manual crank landing legs, and am impressed with the instructions, fit, and quality of the motor and switch.
Working fine.
Installed right away, and was an excellent fit and seems to be working fine at this point
Fast service
I initially put a new gearbox on my jacks thinking that the electric motor should still be ok. Wrong. It must have gotten hot too. I contacted etrailer and discussed the problem and was told to get this motor. I did and once it was on it works great. William B. helped me with this and was great.

Gearbox and motor are working fine after a year of use. Parts fit as advertised.
Got my order sooner than expected. And it fixed the problem
Again Rochelle came thru. Picked out right part and amazing delivery. Great customer service.
The motor was a perfect fit! Sara help me find what I needed and in a very timely manner, she was very polite and helpful.
This is a great replacement motor and gearbox for my 1994 Lance 945 11'3" truck camper with Atwood jacks. The main problem with the Atwood jacks was that the ball screw shaft and ball screw nut were rusted, removed the jacks, removed the motors and gear boxes, removed the 2 pins and the helical cut gears themselves, ran the screw shaft out of the tubes. Cleaned the rust from the ball screw shafts and lubricated the shaft with waterproof grease. The only problem is that the balls in the ball screw nut are also rusted and will take some time to start to recirculate as these balls need to break free. The only thing that I had to do to the motors was remove the feet on the gearbox and also drill and tap a new 1/4 inch bolt hole. These motors have bolt spacing that is closer together. This $[xxx] fix isbetter than purchasing new jacks at $[xxxx]

I was surprised at how small the motor actually is compared to the unit I removed from my trailer. I also purchased landing gear because that is what initially failed on my 5th wheel. I realized that my motor would not adapt to the new landing gear so I ended up having to purchase this motor. The set up seems to work OK but I haven't used it much yet. The fasteners that came with the motor were to long and I had to grind them down to shorten them. There was a big gap in the plastic gear reduction cover. That closed up when I tightened the unit to the landing gear. Easy to install. Just remember you get what you pay for, quality normally reflects purchase price. For what I paid I did not have high expectations. etrailer was easy to work with and I will definitely buy from them again.
The product and eTrailer are great. As an RV maintenance center, it's a pleasure to do business with you.
This was an exact replacement part and was easy to install
The service was fast and very much appreciated. This was not my first purchase from e-trailer nor will it be my last. Great job guys.

Worked as expected. Thank you.
Service and delivery was very good. Received item in great shape as described. The only concern I have it looks like I didn’t order a strong enough motor, it seems to struggle even though it’s rated for 5500 lbs. I should have done a little more research.

Thank you for the review! Something you might want to check on is the RPMs. This motor is rated for 5,500 RPMs which is good, but if your old motor was rated higher it would explain why this one feels like its struggling.
The motor fit into the same place the old motor was in on a Cougar 5th Wheel. The polarity of the wires were reverse from the original unit supplied with the Cougar. Speed is a bit slower compared to the original.
It works fine and does the job. Better than hand cranking!
Right fit great customers service, I will deal with etrailer in the near future.

Great
The tracking # shipment date was a week off! It was an easy install, but did not include a switch or wire nuts to attach wires. Motor works great.
this was for a replacement on a Lippert Landing gear product, works fine perfect fit easy to install and most important 1/3 of the price of the Lippert one

I would suggest checking the ground connections. Sometimes that is the cause of slow moving landing gear motors. Another possibility is the battery power is low, and third is that maybe the jack screws and pinion gear need lubrication. If there are no odd sounds coming from the motor, then it is likely one of the first two issues.
