Automatic Operation

These motorized RV steps provide an effortless, convenient way to enter and exit your RV. The steps wire to your RV's door and feature an automatic extension, unfolding when the door opens and retracting when it closes. This differentiates the steps from the alternate manual pull-out steps.

The included switch kit consists of 2 sensor pieces, which mount on the door and doorframe. When the sensor pieces come into contact with each other, the steps are pushed in or pulled out.

Safety Features

The Tread Lite steps include several safety features in an effort to prevent injury to you or your passengers and damage to the RV steps. If an obstruction is detected while extending, the steps will halt and retract back into the stowed position. The steps will also retract when you turn on the vehicle's ignition, even if the automatic retraction override has been activated, in case you forget to stow them before driving away.

Will Tread Lite Electric Steps Work for You?

Electric steps are typically installed on RVs and some travel trailers. The Tread Lite electric steps install and fold up underneath the camper for simple storage. To ensure you choose the correct size for your application, there are a few measurements you will need to take.

Tread Lite Mounting

The Tread Lite electric steps attach to the underside of the camper chassis, directly beneath the doorway. To decide which size you'll need, locate the space available underneath your camper that lines up with the door frame, and measure the width and depth. You will need a mounting space that is at least 25-5/8" wide and 18" deep.

If it turns out you have more space beneath your doorway, there are larger step assemblies available with 32" wide brackets. A full list of the available steps is below.

RV Steps Outriggers

Outriggers - metal brackets that act as an extension (LC301704 - sold separately) - may be needed for installation depending on the model of your original stairs. These provide extra length if the old steps are longer or wider than the new.

Once you know where the mounting bracket will go and what size mounting bracket you need, that spot will be used as the "mounting point" to determine how many steps you will need.

How Many Steps Do You Need?

Tread Lite Entry Height

To determine how many steps you'll need, measure from the mounting point to the ground. This is called the entry height. The entry height should roughly match the height of the steps when they're fully extended, plus 5" to 8" to account for the drop from the bottom step to the ground. This measurement will also tell you how many steps you need.

The chart below displays entry height measurements in the first column. If you determined you need a 25-5/8" mounting bracket, the step part numbers with that width are in the second column. If you determined you need a 32" mounting bracket width, the step part numbers with that width are in the third column. Choose the bracket size that is closest to your measurements without going over.

This page's step assembly is in bold text.

Entry Height 25-5/8" Mounting Bracket Width 32" Mounting Bracket Width
11-1/2" - 14-1/2" LC353542 LC353620
19-1/2" - 22-1/2" LC353543 LC353621

How Do You Install the Steps?

To install the steps:

  1. Hook up the steps to power to verify that all components are in working order
  2. Make sure the camper is level on flat ground
  3. Lift the steps into the mounting space and prop into place
  4. If needed, mark the mounting holes on the camper and drill

    -Set aside steps before drilling

  5. If needed, install the outriggers
  6. Align step mounting holes and secure in place with carriage bots and flange lock nuts

-Make sure bracket is backed up fully against the I-beam on the chassis

    -Hardware not included

  7. Tighten hardware until snug
  8. Make sure assembly is sitting square and level
  9. Torque the hardware tight
  10. Connect the appropriate writing to your vehicle's source

It is exactly the same step I had. I did have to call a local shop to get the correct model number as the one that was recommended was different. Your price and delivery options were much better.
Thank you

by:

This unit was easy to install and also the wiring harness that came with the unit was in compliance with the stock connectors. I would recommend this product to anyone replacing an old unit or looking for one that can handle more weight. I installed it on my Monaco Windsor 40PDQ with no issues thanks Jeff.

by:

Met all expectations and installation was seemless.

by:

This step is so much better than the stock step in our RV. It’s lighter, thinner, and the motor is on top and not on the bottom exposed to the elements.

by:

I bought a set of automated steps for my motorhome the salesperson was very helpful and the steps fit my motorhome. Still working great today.

by:

Order arrived promptly. Step probably should have been shipped in a more substantial carton, rear end of step was partially protruding upon delivery. Nothing appears missing or damaged at this time.

by:

Really nice construction and it was straight forward to install.

by:

Great prices, fast shipping.

by:

Great job on the entire transaction from beginning to end. Item installed easily and quality is excellent.

by:

the stairs were fine but the design of the steps was not the best for installation extremely difficult to reach the bolts to secure them

by:

Great replacement product - great service as always from etrailer.

by:

Good price and prompt shipping. This step replaced a six-year old broken and rusted step of the same make and model on my RV so installation was straightforward.

by:

Received steps today. I have a 2008 KZ Escalade and already had removed the steps. They fit right up after I removed the top strap. The strap is replaced by the outriggers for support. I used a floor jack and piece of plywood under the steps to get them into position. Drilled new holes because the step bracket would not allow the steps to go up enough to meet the bracket holes, not a big deal. I spent about an hour and a half installing. I am very pleased with the quality and extremely satisfied with the Staff at Etrailer. I will continue to purchase from Etrailer because they make it right if there is any problem. Thanks Etrailer.

by:

My wife and i saw these steps on several trailers at an rv show. Talk about night and day. My trailer is a 2015 70k trailer and the steps that came with(2 )bounced and wobbled like most steps(my 5th trailer). Not these lippert lights. I HIGHLY recommend !

by:

Great customer service and technical su pport!

by:

These are the exact replacement for the steps that I damaged on my trailer. Kim was very helpful in helping me place the order and the delivery was quick - only 3 business days. I saved a fair amount by purchasing through etrailer.com as compared to the manufacturer and free shipping too. Can't beat them! This is my second order with them and my first order was also seamless.

by:

The product was processed and delivered on time! We installed within 1 1/2 hours start to finish. Very satisfied!!!

  • Replacement Motor, Control Module and Step for Lippert Coach Step RV Steps.
Lippert no longer offers the individual steps as a replacement part, but the motor is available as part # LC301695 and the control module is part # LC301702, If the step in question was bent, it might be possible to straighten it, as the steps, slide rails and step link plates are no longer available. If you'd care to reply with the number of steps in your current unit, and the width of the steps I'd be happy to recommend a replacement.

  • Troubleshooting Lippert Tred Lite Power Steps that Open In Reverse
Well according to the wiring diagram for the Lippert Electric Tread Lite Step for RVs # LC353542 the green wire should've been routed to a chassis ground not to your battery so that may have something to do with it. Also, there is a chance the door switch is wired backwards. You'll want to also consult the wiring diagram attached, but the brown wire from the pigtail connector would need to connected to the switch, and the green wire coming off the switch would need to be grounded to the...

  • Lippert Electric Tread Lite Steps Will Not Stay Extended
It sounds like the brake solenoid on your Lippert Electric Tread Lite Step part # LC353542 is not functioning properly. There is a manual lever on the motor that can sometimes get flipped off which will then not allow the steps to stay extended. In order to check this you will need to look at the lever on the motor and then compare that to the attached photo to make sure it is in the "ON" position. If it is in the "ON" position then odds are the solenoid has gone bad and will need to...

  • How To Choose The Correct Steps For My Trailer?
I spoke with Lippert and the part number you provided is actually the part number for a wiring harness for electric steps. We weren't able to figure out for which steps that harness goes to, however I can provide you with some information to help you choose the steps you need for your coach. What you're first going to need to do is take some measurements so you can choose some steps that fit your coach. You'll need to measure the mounting width and the mounting depth first. What it sounds like happened is the brake solenoid on your steps stopped working correctly. I have attached a photo of the lever you're going to need to check showing both the "ON" and "OFF" position for you to see.
