Universal RV ladder works on almost any RV. Pivoting brackets and swivel hinges accommodate contoured roofs and sloped, curved, or angled walls. You can also trim the ladder legs so it'll fit a shorter RV or camper.

Your solar panel or AC is on the fritz on a hot day, and you need to quickly climb to the roof to look at them. Or perhaps there are leaves and branches on top and you want to brush them off before retracting the slide outs to head home. This exterior ladder attaches to the rear or side wall of your RV, camper, or motorhome, so you can safely access equipment on the roof for maintenance and cleaning. And because it's made of durable aluminum construction, it won't rust when it rains during a camping trip or snows when your RV is in storage during the off season.
First, choose which wall you want to install the assembled ladder on. Traditionally, this ladder would mount on the back, but you can also mount it onto the side, especially if your RV has a rear awning. And for this ladder to be safe to climb, you'll need to install it onto the studs in the wall. If you're unsure where the studs are, use a stud finder (not included).
This ladder has a universal design because you're able to cut it to fit just about any RV or camper. Just measure the height of your RV to see how tall of a ladder you need. Then use a tube cutter or hacksaw (not included) to trim the ladder until it's a perfect fit. Keep in mind that the bottom step should sit between 6" and 12" from the top of the bumper.
Then the ladder bolts onto the roof and wall of your RV with the included mounting hardware. If the ladder isn't a direct replacement, or if your RV doesn't currently have a ladder, drilling will be required.
You can pivot the integrated mounting brackets at the top of the ladder to ensure it sits flush with your RV roof, even if your roof is curved in the back or on the sides. This allows you to position the angle of the ladder so that it remains parallel to the back wall of the RV. If the roof is curved on the sides, trim the vertical section of the arm furthest away from the side of the RV, which will eliminate the difference in the slope between the arms of the ladder.
The included swivel hinges connect the bottom and middle sections of the ladder. Depending on the shape of your RV wall and the amount of flex you want your ladder to have, you'll need to make sure that the hinges are oriented correctly. If you're installing this ladder onto a sloped or curved wall, twist the hinges to where they're pointing outward to the side. If you're installing this ladder onto a flat wall, twist the hinges to where they're facing forward. Once you've positioned the hinges where you want them, tighten them down.
Then position the 4 included standoffs (or ladder supports) along the ladder to help keep it secure to your RV when it's being climbed or when you're driving to the campsite. Drilling into the ladder is required to mount the standoffs. 2 Standoffs need to be attached approximately 8" to 10" below the swivel hinges, and the other 2 should be placed more toward the top of the ladder. If you're installing the ladder onto a straight wall, the standoffs should be placed closer to the hinges to prevent flexing.

Universal RV ladder works on almost any RV. Pivoting brackets and swivel hinges accommodate contoured roofs and sloped, curved, or angled walls. This black ladder was supplied with all bright hardware, the hinges to join the sections are a VERY sloppy fit as is the top section that goes the roof. The stand offs and lower J section put the sharp ends of the tubing in direct contact with trailer skin. I fabricated aluminum plates to correct this deficiency and joined the sections with copper tubing inserted inside the ladder tubing 6 inches on each side of the joints. See these in the pictures provided. I am pleased with final result but the manufacturer should have done the extra work and engineering not me. I would only rate this product and overall experience as 2 stars.
Would have preferred round mounting brackets. Made due with what was sent, just added more holes to motorhome
Well built and designed takes a bit of time and effort to fit The ladder to your specific RV but with some hack sawing and drilling it even fit my leisure travel van which has more curves then a play boy fold out Didn't get a five because the hardware was still galvanized and having paid double for black paint the hardware and flex hinges should've been black tool
Incredibly easy to follow instructions. Very sturdy. This has been a great ladder
Product was received undamaged and all pieces and hardware accounted for. Instructions for assembly could have been more detailed but we're adequate for a person of moderate mechanical aptitude. As with most after market accessories, a moderate amount of improvisation was required. Since I was unable to anchor the rooftop section as well as horizontal supports to structural sections in all cases, I had to incorporate hollow wall anchors for horizontal supports as well as aluminum structural angles to mount roof anchors. Allow about 12 hours start to finish. As is always wise advice: measure twice and cut once. Also, make use of a good level often during installation process. Finished product was sturdy and plumb.
This product does not work for trailers with rear bathrooms because of shower skylights or vents. Shipping was terrible with a box that looked as if a bear had at it.
Well made product, easy to modify for universal applications. I was able to cut to length and install the ladder in about 1 hour of work. My suggestions for improvement would be to have black mid ladder couplers, instead of just silver galvanized, to match the black ladders, and to provide mounting inserts for fiberglass wall trailers with the kit.
This was a replacement ladder for the factory mounted unit that received damage. Overall the parts and instruction sheet I would rate as very good. The quality of manufacture is also very good. The only thought I have for improvement would be a slightly larger foot for the stand offs. etrailer was easy to order from and delivery was prompt.
1St I would look for another shipper. The box was totally destroyed, fortunately the ladder was ok. 2nd it’s is a good thing I had my old ladder, for I use the bottom half to complete the install. 3rd. Now that I am done everything looks great. Ps. I also reused the old top half of ladder. That attached to the roof. PS. Your personal were great thanks. It was not easy using both but looks good
Sexy new ladder replaced the original. Must be made for the newer larger Rvs, but we customized it for me. Sturdy and good looking.
It was as described & expected when delivered. Installation on older Class C motor home went okay.
I would consider buying another if needed in future. Unfortunately, I can't say much more about long term use, I installed it on parents RV as gift for them. They traded to a newer RV during the year.
Ladder looks great. Just what I was looking for
The ladder is well made and it was shipped quickly. Installation was straight forward. My only reservation is the manufacturer provided hardware is not black. When you spend twice the price to purchase the black anodised ladder the hardware looks terrible. I wound up painting all the screws and hinges black to get a factory look. Spend the time to think about your particular installation and dry fit everything before you do the final install. It looks great and seems very sturdy.

Thanks for your email and follow up. The Stromberg Carlson ladder I purchased from you has performed well and I have not had any issues with it. It makes roof access easy whenever needed and the black anodized finish matches the rest of the trailer. It truly looks OEM.
Good ladder to replace the OEM version that was damaged by the prior owner. The shipping box was not up to the job and had a massive hole in it. There was no damage to the ladder but I was concerned whether all of the parts had arrived safely, Installation took longer than expected ~4 hours.
EASY INSTALL. IT ALLOWS US TO PUT THE BODY SUPPORTS WHERE WE NEED THEM.
Quality product, as advertised, and EXTREMELY FAST SHIPPING! The "Black" color is true and strong. Precise instructions for installation and modification included. It fits my new Forest River 326RL, has swivel if bend is needed instead of straight. It can be cut down for shorter installation. A very safe product if installed according to instructions.

GREAT!! Still working out, I LOVE IT
This is a good, universal ladder replacement option. I would have much preferred a true replacement, rather than a universal substitute for it, but this did the job. You don't have to be a mechanic to install it, but you do have to cut some pipe and do a little work to customize it for your RV. My disappointments were that the brackets/mounts were rectangular, while my old ladder's were round. I would have had to plug the old holes in the side of my RV and drill new ones for these mounts. I ended up using some parts/brackets from my old (broken) ladder and some from this one to utilize my existing holes in the RV siding. Also, I paid considerably extra for the black ladder over the aluminum finish, and was disappointed that the connecting piece used to connect the top and bottom halves of the ladder was silver/metal color (I painted it black for my use).
Bottom line. This will likely meet any ladder need you have, but it won't "replace" your original factory ladder.
PRODUCT WAS SHIPPED AGAIN IN ITS ORIGNAL PACKAGE FROM THE FACTORY AND WAS COMPLETLEY DAMAGED ... IT MAKES NO SENSE ETRAILER CONTINUES TO SHIP PRODUCTS IN MANUFACTORS BOX THAT WAS NEVER DESIGNED TO BE THROWN AROUND A DELIVERY TRUCK ,,, ;[;[;[

The box was completely destroyed. Someone tried to tape it the tape fell off and the the poles were sliding all around and scatching the black finish

Im sorry to see that your ladder has arrived with some scratches on it due to shipping. This does tend to happen and when it does, we recommend using a Rust-oleum type paint to cover up any scratches and prevent corrosion in the future during use. I have a link below that is generally used for all products that have a powder coat finish for your reference. I have also sent this information over to our Customer Service Department for them to get into contact with you.

I was thrilled to find a black metal ladder. This will work perfectly for our roof top deck, and great instructions as well. I love that you can cut it to fit your specific needs.
Quality is good but you have to remember this is a universal ladder. So it doesn't fit just like to original. But works fine so I would recommend buying if you need a ladder.
