Hi everybody, Andy here with etrailer.com, and today we're gonna take a look at this Kodiak Dacromet 13 inch hub and rotor, eight on 6 1/2 inch bolt pattern and 8,000 pound axle capacity. Now, Kodiak's hub and rotor assemblies make it easy to change from drum brakes to disk brakes. And this single piece assembly is gonna make installation a snap, whether you're retrofitting or switching from drum brakes. This is made of machine cast iron with a corrosion-resistant dacromet coating. It's balanced for a smooth ride and furnished with industry standard races. And this cast iron construction ensures a favorable friction coefficient for necessary stopping power.
The machined process minimizes run out and warping, and contaminants can't get into between the rotor and hub. The dacromet plating has a 300 to 400 hour salt spray rating. And let me give you a view from the top here to show you the vented design. This features this vented design that effectively dissipates the heat preventing heat related damage. Now, the 5/8th of an inch wheel studs and this screw in polycarbon oil cap are included.
The inner and outer bearings, the grease seals and the oil seals, are all sold separately. But we do list the numbers of those parts at the bottom of this product page under bearing race and seal information. Again, this rotor is 13 inch in diameter and it has an axle capacity of 8,000 pounds, the bolt pattern is eight on 6 1/2 inch, and this will fit wheel sizes of 16 inches and larger, and this is made in the USA. Well, that's gonna conclude our look today, I do hope that it was helpful for you. Again, my name is Andy, thank you for joining me..

Kodiak's hub-and-rotor assembly makes it easy to change from drum brakes to disc brakes. Made of machined cast iron with a corrosion-resistant dacromet coating, this 1-piece unit is balanced for a smooth ride and furnished with standard races. These are a must for anyone who uses their trailer for commercial purposes, high annual miles, outstanding braking performance with the disk brakes, low maintenance easy to check and change lube, great capacity at 8k that works with the standard 7k axle, these are excellent when paired with heavy duty 17.5 wheels and tires for long haul high mileage users, these hubs use a larger outer bearing than the 7k hub rotors or drums which has about a 25% larger bearing area, these are the answer to bearing and breaking woes compared to 7k grease and drum systems, more than pleased with these, I'd give them 10 stars if I could. One side note, these require a different caliper mounting bracket if switching from 7k disk system, but the same calipers will work just fine. If you were thinking about putting on disk brakes, just go straight to this system and be done with it, I highly recommend this upgrade
Correct fit
I've run many miles, well over 200k with these hub/rotors, the larger outer bearings hold up much better than the 7k units, and oil bath stay cooler and maintaining is simplified, no messy grease to change brakes, and unscrew the covers to dump oil and refill if water gets in. The only issue is the rubber o-ring cracks and leaks so get better oil resistant o-rings as spares before they leak

Im just as happy with these as my first review, one thing to note, the mount bolt rubber bushings get sloppy after a while, and the bolts need blue loc-tite when removed and reinstalled to keep them from occasionally backing out.
