Determining the Bolt Pattern
The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.
To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: "5 on 4-1/2" means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)
On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: "8 on 6-1/2" means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)
Measuring the distance from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

Hello, everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a look at this Kenda Loadstar ST235/75R15 Radial Off-Road Trailer Tire in a Load Range D, mounted on this 15 inch matte black machined aluminum trailer wheel with the 5 on 4 1/2 inch bolt pattern. Now, this tire and wheel assembly is ideal for trailers off-roading on mud or other uneven terrain, and it can also be used on highways and other paved roads. We'll start with the wheel, it's a nice aluminum wheel. It's very durable, lightweight, and rustproof. It is an AM03 Series wheel, which is an open five-spoke design, has a matte black finish.
But if you also noticed around this edge of the open spoke, has a nice machined finish. They do use a clear coat finish on the front and even on the back of the wheel to protect from scuffs and scratches. One of the nice features I like on this wheel, it has the steel inserts right here in the lug nut wells. Helps keep your wheel securely in place on the trailer hub. So basically, when you install this onto the studs of your trailer, put your lug nuts on there and tighten them down, those steel inserts prevent those holes from wearing down, eliminates the need for constant re-tightening of your lug nuts.
The wheel itself, the diameter, 15 inches. The width on just the wheel is five inches wide. Bolt pattern on this is 5 on 4 1/2 inches. And the pilot hole, which is the large hole here in the center of the wheel, diameter of that is 3.19 inches. Now, if you noticed this does not have a center cap.
If you do want a center cap, we do sell those separately. And you do wanna get a center cap that'll have the same diameter as the pilot hole, 3.19 inches. It does use a wheel lug size of 1/2 inch by 20. And the weight capacity on just the wheel is 2,200 pounds. Now, the tire is a Kenda Loadstar special trailer radial tire.
This is a radial tire, which is constructed with double steel belts and full nylon plies for long life. And if you look at the tread design, it has the deep rugged tread blocks that help give it the excellent grip in any off-road conditions. The tire is an ST tire, which stands for special trailer tire. Has the sturdy sidewall, so they can handle heavy loads. And it is created specifically for trailers, it's not intended for use on other vehicles. The tire size, which will be stamped on the sidewall, right here, ST for special trailer, 235/75R15. The R means it's a radial tire. Section width, it's gonna be 9.3 inches. Overall diameter from the bottom to the top when it's inflated is 29 inches. This is a Load Range D, which means it's an eight-ply rated tire, so it has a maximum load capacity of 2,860 pounds at 65 psi. I also wanna mention, the tire comes with a speed rating, and it's stamped on the sidewall with a letter designation. And where you'll find it is right after the tire size, you'll see two numbers for the load index, and then the letter Q. Speed rating Q means this is a 99 mile per hour speed rated tire. And this tire and wheel assembly does meet the DOT, Department of Transportation specifications. But that's gonna do it for the review on Kenda Loadstar ST235/75R15 Radial Off-Road Trailer Tire in a Load Range D on this 15 inch matte black machined aluminum trailer wheel.
