this product help keep all things in order and I have not had any issues with wiring

I had to upgrade my fifth wheel to a motorhome do to my wifes disability how ever every thing worked out just fine fo the short time I used it.

I can't say enough good things about the staff at etrailer. They helped me pick out the correct items to install disc brakes on my boat trailer and the technical staff was extremely helpful in helping me better understand how to perform the installation. This was the first time I ever install a new brake system and their help enabled me to easily and successfully complete the installation. A+ for the product quality and for etrailer staff!

Would not recommend this package at all. The main cable (vehicle 7 prong cable) had all the wires miss attached, IE the brown was not the running light but the constant, yellow was constant etc, the only wire hooked up correctly was the white ground.

So during installation I assumed the harness would be correct, hooked up to my truck and not have a massive short in my truck due to the improper back feeding and drain. I had to bring another vehicle up and trace every wire individually with a test light to wire the trailer correctly. Good news, after 5 hours I was able to rewire my trailer, bad news I no longer have a truck to tow it with due to the short. I can not even begin to imagine the undertaking of now having to find the short in my truck.

Would recommend against purchasing this product at all costs, you're better off building one on your own harness which I guess I should have done!

by:

Watch how you wire this up but once I started following the directions it worked perfectly. Would have liked a better waterproof box for wires but seems to holding up to the water.

by:

Everything I have purchased from you had been the highest of quality. Very quick delivery. I rebuilt my boat trailer with your part and I couldn't be happier

by:

The color coding on the wiring block does not match the wires in the pigtail …. Be sure to test when plugged into your vehicle

  • Wiring Needed For Electric Trailer Brakes On a 7,000LB Car Hauler Trailer
For the brake wire on your 7,000lb car hauler you will want to use a 12 Gauge Wire # 12-1-1 for the power wire. The ground wire can either be grounded to the frame or you can use the Jacketed 2 Wire # 12-2-1 if you are not using the frame as a ground. I have included a chart below that has the suggested wiring sizes needed for a 7-way trailer harness. This wiring will need to connect to your 7-Way Junction Box # HS381-9000 and Breakaway Kit # 20400.

  • Parts Needed to Install Electric Brakes On a Tandem Axle Trailer With 3,500 Torque Axles Salt Water
With your trailer being in an environment where it is exposed to both salt water and fresh water I would highly recommend going with a disc brake setup. There are much fewer components on the brakes to become damaged from the elements with disc brakes. You will need 4 of the DeeMaxx Disc Brake Assemblies # DE89YR with a Hydrastar Electric-Hydraulic Actuator w/ Line Kit # CAR-HBA16-2. You will most likely need a Adapter Module # HBA-CAM for your factory brake controller but be sure to check...

  • Adding An On-Board Trailer Battery to Trailer for Electric Power Tongue Jack
A 100 amp hour battery would suffice for powering a trailer tongue jack as well as some other accessories. For this, we have both AGM such as the Bright Way Deep Cycle RV or Marine Battery part # BRW94FR. In order to charge these batteries, you'd need to tap into the trailer connector's battery charge line circuit. This is only present on seven way connections so if you don't yet have one you'll need to upgrade using the Trailer Wiring 7-Way Upgrade Kit part # HS381-9000 which is for the...

  • Options For Converting Trailer With Hydraulic Surge Brakes To Being Controlled By a Brake Controller
I have a couple options for your 1996 Jayco camper. The easiest option will be to add either the Hydrastar Vented Marine Electric Over Hydraulic Actuator for Disc Brakes # HS481-8067 or for Drum Brakes # HS481-8065. This will allow you to retain all your hydraulic lines, brakes and drums on your trailer. Both kits include a breakaway battery, breakaway switch and the hydraulic actuator and wiring needed to install them. You will need an Adapter # PK12716 to plug your 4-way flat into the...

  • Parts Needed to Use the Kodiak Disc Brakes on a Trailer or Motorhome
For your Kodiak Disc Brakes, part # K2HR858D, you do in fact need a hydraulic actuator and lines. The HydraStar Vented Marine Electric Over Hydraulic Actuator, part # HS381-8067, is a decent choice. However, I recommend part # HBA16-252-82 instead as this one comes with the lines needed to connect to the brakes. I've linked to a video installation of this actuator and lines for you to reference. When it comes to wiring in the actuator, I highly recommend using the Wiring Kit for HydraStar...

  • Parts Needed to Add Electric Drum Brakes to 1996 Pop Up Camper
Unless your axle is in bad shape or it uses a weird set of bearings and seal you shouldn't need to replace it just to swap your hydraulic brakes over to electric. We actually have everything that you need for this conversion. To replace your older size 20.5x8-10 tires/wheels I recommend the Kenda 205/65-10 Bias Trailer Tire with 10" White Wheel # AM3H410 if you need the tire and wheel or part # AM1HP54 for just the tire (which is the current size listing of your tire size). This has a load...

  • Adding Electric Brakes to Karavan 6 x 10 Utility Trailer
Given the 2990 lb GVWR of your 6x10 Karavan trailer, you most likely have a 3500 lb capacity axle. If that's the case, and if the axle is equipped with brake mounting flanges (see provided photo), the Dexter Nev-R-Adjust brake assemblies # 23-468-469 and the # AKHD-545-35-EZ-K hub would be compatible. You'll just want to pull one of the hubs and check the reference numbers from the inner and outer wheel bearings to be sure. The inner bearing should be a L68149 and the outer should be L44649....

In order to add electric trailer brakes to a trailer with 3,500 Lb Axle all you need is braking assemblies (Electric Trailer Brake Kit part # AKEBRK-35-SA), hubs/drums (Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly part # AKHD-545-35-EZ-K), and a wiring kit (Trailer Wiring 7-Way Upgrade Kit part # HS381-9000). We have 7-way jacketed wiring with the Deka Wiring part # DW04914-1 sold by the foot which you could use to run all new 7-way wiring but you'd have to run individual wires to each circuit/light which a lot of people use a junction box like the # HS381-9000 which comes with a new 7-way. This is the route I would go with this box and a taillight kit like the LED Tail Light kit part # TLL56RK which comes with wiring for the lights and a license plate bracket. This will then tie into a Bright Way Push-to-Test Trailer Breakaway Kit # 3802308 before going to the brakes themselves. You will need 12 Gauge Wire # 12-1-1(sold by the foot) to run to the trailer brakes(see diagram). • Recommended Axle Setup For a 5 X 8 Off-Road Trailer With Jeep Wheels
I recommend using the Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension System # ASR1THDS03. This system has a upgraded spindle designed for additional strength. It includes a 4" lift spindle for additional ground clearance and will place your hub face for your Jeep wheels 8-1/2" from the frame and the axle centerline 9-5/8" below the bottom of the frame. For this I recommend the Easy Grease Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly for 2K Axles # AKHD-545-2-EZ-2K. This hub and drum assembly fits a 5 on 4-1/2 wheel bolt pattern so you may end up needing new wheels as well if your old idler hubs were just a 4 on 4 bolt pattern. • Parts Needed to Adapt 7-Way Combined Vehicle Wiring with Separate 6-Pole Trailer Wiring
The easiest way to connect an RV 7-way with combined stop/turn signals to a 6-pole trailer with separate stop and turn lights is to use a converter like # 118158. This takes in the combined stop/turn signal and splits it out into separate signals for stop lights (the red wire) and for turn lights (the green and yellow wires). This is made easier by using a junction box like # HS381-9000 which provides both a place for making the trailer wiring connections and for housing the converter....

These assemblies will self-adjust to ensure you have the best braking without needing to manually adjust them every few months. Then for your 5 on 5 inch hubs, I recommend the Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly - 3,500-lb Axles - 10" Diameter - 5 on 5 # AKHD-550-35-K. • Will Trailer Wiring 7-way Upgrade Kit HS381-9000 Fit Trailer With Only 6 Wires?
The Trailer Wiring 7-Way Upgrade Kit w/ Junction Box and RV Style Connector # HS381-9000 you were looking at will work perfectly on your utility trailer even though it only has 6 wires. First things first I recommend verifying that the issue is on the trailer side of things and not trucks connector. You can test this by having a friend turn on the turn signals and apply the brakes while you text the pins of the connector using a circuit tester like # PTW2993. If you have power, then replacing...

  • Adding Brakes to Utility Trailer with Custom 3,500 lb Axle with 6 on 5-1/2 Bolt Pattern
Since you're looking for a relatively easy installation and your camper only has a single 3,500 lb axle, your best option is to add electric brakes. These will work well to provide safe and reliable breaking on your fully loaded trailer and do not require major modifications like adding a hydraulic brake actuator or running hydraulic brake lines, which is the case when adding drum or disc hydraulic brakes to a trailer. If you already have hubs with integrated drums on your trailer, you...

Tthe Hopkins connector, part # HM47025, will connect your 2015 Ram 3500's 7-way to your boat trailer's 5-way but it won't power the EOH brakes. Your truck's brake output pin is the in 5 O'clock position which is standard and the center pin is the reverse light circuit. The Hopkins connector uses that reverse light circuit for the 5th pin that's normally on a boat trailer for its electric reverse lockout. Instead I'd cut the trailer's 5-way off and replace it with a 7-way. Part # HS381-9000...
