Speaker 1: Today we're going to be taking a look at the Hopkins vehicle wiring harness with a 7-way RV style connector. This product fits a 1999 to 2002 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra. To ensure that this is a fit for your vehicle, you can always use the vehicle fit guide at etrailer.com.This unit provides a 7-way blade style trailer connector at the back of your vehicle to power your trailer's signal lights. It is compatible with 5-pole and 6-pole adapters. Adapters are sold separately. The connector itself is a really nice, durable construction. It features a spring loaded lid that keeps the connection point safe when nothing is connected.
It's pretty simple installation. It's designed to hard wire to the existing wiring on your vehicle. It does come with the plug, mounting bracket, hardware. It's going to come with some cable ties to secure any excess or slack in the wiring. It's going to come with some terminal grease.
That terminal grease gets applied to the terminals here on the connector, and that's designed to protect the terminals from rust and corrosion. All of the connectors are already attached to the ends of the wiring, so you'll notice that they all have butt connectors on them, and then the white wires are a ground wire that has a ring terminal on it, and it also comes with a grounding screw. To go over the wire functions real quick, white wire is ground, red is the reverse light, black is auxiliary power, blue is electric brakes, green is right turn, yellow is left turn signal, so left turn and brake, right turn and brake, and then brown is park and taillights. That's going to do it for today's look at the Hopkins vehicle wiring harness with the 7-way RV style connector.
