Video Transcript for Checking Out the Flint Hill Goods Locking Hitch Pin for 2" and 2-1/2" Hitches

What's up everybody. It's AJ with Etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna be checking out the Flint Hill Goods locking hitch bin. We have a ball mount in here today, and what's gonna be is to lock up any hitch mounted accessory as long as it fits a two inch hitch or two and a half inch hitch it'll work with it. Let's check it out. Take a closer look at it and see it's a pretty beefy lock.

I like that. It makes me trust it a whole bunch more. No lock is perfect but it's gonna be a good theft deterrent. I think if somebody sees this they're gonna just move on to the next vehicle that maybe doesn't have their accessories locked up. So it does its job there too.

But it seems like it can hold up pretty well. Now, today we're using it with a ball mount like I mentioned but it's not just for that you can use it on a cargo carrier, a bike rack or even a hitch cover. As long as it doesn't have threaded holes, you can use the hitch pin to lock up that accessory. Now I really like that. How bulky it is that helps me think that it's gonna last it's got a sturdy steel construction with chrome plate finish.

So that's gonna keep it looking nice if you leave it out in the elements which if you lock up your stuff all the time at the back your car, it's gonna be outside and exposed, so it's not gonna rust or corrode. Looking at the pin portion of the lock, it's gonna be a five eighths of an inch diameter. So it's gonna work with a two inch or two and a half inch hitches. You might see a little movement back and forth on the two inch by two inch hitch. That's just though it's made for the two inch by two inch and the two and a half inch.

So that extra space is there and it'll be filled up when you put it on the two and a half inch hitch. Let's see how it works with the key. So I'm gonna slide the key in, go to turn it. It looks like I can turn against the lock. I wanna do this one handed and remove it. So that's pretty easy. I like that versus a barrel lock where you have to keep turning and turning and turning and unthread it that's a very secure way of doing it, but it takes some time. So this is a way quicker than that. The other thing that I liked about is you don't have the key in there to put this back into place it snaps back in like that, it's locked. One thing I will point out about the lock on this one is that it is exposed. You see that it's right there out in the open. There's not even a door here covering the keyhole. So you do wanna make sure that you put the cover back on when it's not in use and that's gonna be made out of weather resistant PVC. Slides right over there. And I like that it covers up a good portion of the lock. It's just not right here at the end. It goes over pretty good. So it stays on there nice and snug. Now you can get that as a separate part as well if you lose yours or you just wanna pick up a spare just in case you lose one, definitely handy to have 'cause you wanna keep that lock core free of any dirt and debris so that it doesn't get messed up. Overall, I think it's a good lock. It definitely keeps your accessories safe. I like that the padlock is as big as it is. Like I said, makes me think it's really sturdy. And I think that's gonna help with the theft deterrent. Just somebody looking at that and being like "I'm not gonna mess with that one. I'll find another one" and they go along. So it does its job in that way. Another thing I like is it can work with two and a half inch or two inch hitches. So maybe you do upgrade, you get a different ball mount you don't have to buy a whole new lock. So that means the lock's gonna last and can be upgraded moved around for whatever you decide to get next. Well, I think that does it. Thanks for hanging out, and I hope this helps..

by:

Great locks-you unlock with two hands thou-you have to hold black part of lock and turn the key to remove spindle-very nice--CON-it has nice tight key lock area cover but they are NOT attached to the lock with a lanyard thus allowing you to misplace to key cover

  • Does etrailer Magnetic Hitch Receiver Reducer Sleeve e28JR Include A Locking Pin?
The etrailer Magnetic Hitch Receiver Reducer Sleeve # e28JR does not include a locking hitch pin. I recommend the Flint Hill Goods Locking Hitch Pin for 2" and 2-1/2" Hitches # FHG63VR, which just so happens to be the locking pin in the picture you referenced. This is a chrome plated steel locking pin which will work perfectly to keep hitch accessories secured to your hitch. A dust cap and two keys are included.

  • How To Extend Weight Distribution Hitch For Tailgate Clearance When Towing Camper
In order to extend your hitch on your 2015 Toyota Tundra, I recommend looking into a longer shank for your weight distribution system, as this will be your only safe option. The Equal-i-zer Weight Dist Shank # EQ90-02-4500 has a distance of 14" from the center of the hitch pin hole to the center of the ball hole. It has a max tongue weight of 1,400lbs. To ensure that this will work for you, you will want to measure 14" from your hitch pin hole and determine if that will be long enough...

  • How To Extend Weight Distribution Hitch On 2015 Toyota Tundra
In order to extend your hitch on your 2015 Toyota Tundra, I recommend looking into a hitch extender or a longer shank for your weight distribution system. The # HE12 is a hitch extender that fits 2" receiver. It is 9-1/2" long between the hitch pin hole and ball mount. This has a max weight capacity of 7,000lbs and tongue weight of 700lbs when used in combination with a weight distribution system. The main drawback with this is that it will reduce your towing capacity by 1/3. For example,...

  • Is There a Locking Hitch Pin That Uses Key For 2015 Honda Pilot?
I have a locking hitch pin recommendation, but even though there is a company named Bolt that makes locks that a vehicle key can be used to lock and unlock, but they don't make one compatible with the key for your 2015 Honda Pilot. You'll need to use a traditional style lock like the # FHG63VR which includes it's own key instead.

  • Is Just Pin Available From Flint Hill Goods Locking Hitch Pin
Hey Jesse, thanks for reaching out! The Flint Hill Goods Locking Hitch Pin # FHG63VR doesn't have a warranty, and if it did I doubt it would cover rust as it's pretty rare for rust to be covered under any warranty. Just the pin isn't available by itself so you'll need to replace the whole locking pin. I'm not seeing an order from you for this specific pin, so you might want to check with the manufacturer of the pin you have to double check on that warranty.
