I have heard from some of our customers that they've used a couple of pieces of 1/2 inch steel plate plate cut to the appropriate size to shim out one side of the 2 x 2 trailer tongue so a hinge for a 2 x 3 hinge kit like the # FHDPW230300 weld-on or # FHDPB230101 bolt-on hinge can be used.

  I spoke with my contact in the Tech Services department at Fulton, who explained that Aluminum trailer frames have a greater wall thickness than a steel frame. The bolts that attach the hinge to the trailer frame have a large diameter shoulder which acts like a rivet, holding the parts together very tightly. Since an aluminum trailer frame has a greater wall thickness, the shoulder won't have contact all the way through the metal, resulting in a looser fit. This is why they don't recommend...

Yes, installing the fold away behind the winch will not be an issue, main thing is to not go back further than what is recommended on the chart which goes by the Gross Trailer Weight Rating. I looked up the specs on the Continental JB127 and your gross trailer weight rating is 1,550 lbs, so you can put it at the max point of 48" back from the ball.
