  • Choosing/Sizing the Correct Trailer Ramp Spring for a Ramp Door
When selecting ramp springs for a trailer ramp, you will want to know the diameter of your hinge pin and how much space you have available in the hinge. A typical horse trailer or utility trailer ramp uses 3/4 inch hinge pins and would require two ramp springs with a 3/4 inch inner diameter. The ramp springs that we carry fit 1-1/2 inch diameter hinge pins and are designed for use with heavy-duty steel ramps like those on equipment trailers or car haulers. The spring slips over the hinge...

  • What Size Ramp Door Spring Do I Need for My Trailer?
Hello Vance, Awesome job on building your trailer! I am happy to find the right spring for you, but in order to do I am going to need quite a few measurements. I have included a picture of what measurements I need, can you please respond back with the measurement for each letter?

  • Weight of Enclosed Trailer Ramp Spring ERS120D81
Though I can't give you a reason why, I can tell you that the Enclosed Trailer Ramp Spring # ERS120D81 has a shipping weight of 27 lbs, which is going to be very close to what the actual product weight is. It is 81 inches wide with a 120 lb capacity and has 2 springs on the assembly. I've added a link to a video review of this product for you to take a look at as well.

  • Is There A Lift-Assist Available For An Enclosed Trailer Ramp Door
Hey Dennis, To my knowledge there isn't a lift-assist for an enclosed trailer door so the only option we can offer would be to swap out the door spring from a single # M374FR to a dual spring system like # ERS120D81 to give you a bit more balance and strength holding the door. There are other weight capacities available as well to choose from so the # ERS120D81 might not be the correct fit depending on how heavy your door is because if we go too heavy your door will try to lift up on its own.

  • Availability of Bushing/Bearing for M-3 Dual Ramp Springs
The Replacement M-3 Universal Mounting Kit for Conventional Ramp Door Springs # M389FR is the only way to get the bushings/bearings. Unfortunately, they are not sold individually. This comes with the mounting bracket, bearing, and football bearing adapter.

  • Recommended Ramp Torsion Spring for 82-Inch Wide Enclosed Trailer

This unit consists of two torsion springs on one shaft and it has a capacity of 120-lbs. This spring can be bolted or welded to the trailer header and it comes complete with dual cables and hardware. • Car Hauler Ramp Spring Options to Help with Heavy Ramp
I don't know how wide your rear door is but we have an 8 foot wide rear door we have the 120 lb kit part # M354FR or for a 7 foot wide option we have the part # ERS120D81. These are for enclosed style trailers. If you have a open trailer with side rails you could instead use the Gorilla Lift part # GL1 to help with the ramp.

  • Adjustability of Enclosed Trailer Ramp Spring
I spoke with my contact at M-3 who said the ramp spring shaft can be cut down to a maximum of 62 inches and you would still have room to wind the springs. The shaft is made of steel tubing so the proper saw or power saw blade would cut through it. Be sure to get a straight cut and file down the rough spots. The installation instructions for this product are recommended for individuals who have experience winding torsion springs. If you have not worked with a torsion spring system before,...

  • Replacement Ramp Door Spring Assembly for a Cargo Trailer Ramp Door
The spring assemblies are pretty universal and can be cut to length depending on what size you need. The Conventional Ramp Door Spring for 7' Wide Enclosed Trailer - Dual Spring - 120-lb Capacity item # ERS120D81 will work for your Carry-On 6X12CGR7K. You will have to shorten the bar to get it down to the 66" wide you require. If you don't have experience working with torsion springs I recommend you contact a garage door installer. Each spring has to be wound a quarter turn at a time 30-40...

  • Recommended Ramp Door Spring for 8 Foot Wide Enclosed Trailer
You'll want to choose a spring that's the same width as the ramp door. I'm afraid that the # ERS120D81 you mentioned would be too narrow. You'd want to use #CB250D96SHD, which is 96 inches wide. You'll have to take about 2 inches off each side of the pipe, but this would be your best bet. We HIGHLY recommend having the spring installed by somebody who's experienced with torsion springs. Tensioning the spring is a dangerous job that shouldn't be undertaken by somebody who's not familiar...

  • Replacement Left Hand Drum for M-3 Dual Ramp Springs
We actually carry the replacement left hand drum # DRUM-M-3LH which is for M-3 Dual Ramp Springs # ERS120D81 and # ERS160D96. Since this can be a tricky installation we do recommend that only someone with experience (like a local garage door company) do the install. If you have a different spring that we don't carry then you'll want to reach out to that manufacturer for replacement parts as these aren't necessarily universal pieces.

You did not mention what specific dimensions you were looking for, so I took several. I then produced a pictured showing the measurements. The blue arrow indicates the center to center distance between the mounting holes. The green arrow is center to center between the drums. The yellow is the space between the spring assemblies. Purple is the length of a spring assembly. The drum is 2-1/2 inches wide, 4-3/8 inches in diameter. THe spring is 2-3/8 inches in diameter (not under tension)....

  • Recommended Size of Ramp Spring for 7 x 16-Foot Enclosed Trailer
Since a 7-foot trailer width is 84-inches the nearest ramp spring size will be the 81-inch size like # ERS120D81. The linked review video will give you details on this item. All ramps springs are shown on the linked page. The installation instructions for this product are recommended for individuals who have experience winding torsion springs. • Could ERS120D81 Ramp Door Spring Be Cut Down for Use on a 6 ft Wide Enclosed Trailer
The whole assembly (81 inches wide) can be trimmed down as short as 62 inches long, so it would work perfectly at 72 inches.. The spring has a capacity of 120 lbs. We strongly recommend having a professional overhead door technician install the spring for you. The spring needs to be tensioned, and if it lets loose accidentally it would fling tools at high enough velocity to easily kill someone so it isn't a good job for a do-it-yourselfer.

  • Choosing the Correct Ramp Springs for Enclosed Cargo Trailer
The springs you mentioned are designed for use on ramps that you'd typically see on a heavy equipment trailer. They're way too stiff to be used on a trailer door. The correct springs for your application will depend on what you are using the ramp for and the width of the trailer. The Ramp Springs you are asking about are best used for heavyweight steel doors on a horse trailer or for an enclosed car trailer. If one man can lift the ramp, a more lightweight option like a torsion spring...
