Hidden Cross Tube for a Clean, Factory Look

The EcoHitch Hidden trailer hitch is designed to be as inconspicuous as possible. The hitch's cross tube bolts onto your vehicle's frame, behind your rear bumper. No drilling or welding is required. Once the hitch is installed, only the receiver will be visible beneath your bumper. This means that your vehicle can maintain its stylish, from-the-factory look, and you won't have to do any major modifications to its body or frame.

Eco-Friendly Material

With a combination of aerospace-grade aluminum, steel, and stainless steel, each EcoHitch is made of a strong metal alloy that will withstand the test of time. The lightweight alloy is composed of recycled materials. Traditional steel hitch manufacturing can use coal or oil, which can contribute to harmful gas emissions. The EcoHitch's recycled materials limit the carbon footprint during manufacturing, so you get a sturdy trailer hitch while also helping the environment.

Rigorous Strength Testing Ensures Durability

This EcoHitch trailer hitch is tested for durability and sturdiness. Using Finite Elemental Analysis (FEA), individual points of stress on the hitch can be detected and remedied. Designers can accurately test the hitch to ensure that it will meet or exceed SAE J684 standards. The EcoHitch Hidden trailer hitch is carefully researched and strength tested for a durable, high-quality hitch that can resist damage while on the road.

2016 Honda Fit

The hitch fits well and works well on our 2019 Honda Fit. The provided Installation Notes are helpful, but the pictures are a bit fuzzy and sometimes hard to read. I suggest watching Etrailer's excellent installation videos when available. There was not one available yet for a third gen Fit like ours, but the 2015 Fit video was close enough to help me figure out some of the trickier part removal steps - and to gather the right range of tools together ahead of time. A power drill with extension and hex bit for removing and reinstalling the bolts is a real time and wrist saver as the spacing is challenging for getting a wrench in there.
As noted in the Q&A, some trimming of the fascia is required to allow the receiver to fit snugly under the bumper. Small price to pay for minimizing loss of ground clearance! And it is below the car so not really visible from the rear. There was no template for the cut included in our directions, but it was easy to make my own from the dimensions indicated. Once we aligned our paper template, we then outlined it in blue tape and used that as a more secure guide for cutting the fascia with a demel side cutter wheel.
Note that the holes for two of the push pin clips that hold the bumper fascia in place on the bottom no longer align due to the extra thickness of the hitch and bumper combination. We secured this part of the fascia with heavy duty wire ties (see picture)

A year out and the hitch is still working fine. Do note that the Honda Fit is a low clearance vehicle. The hitch itself does not add to the clearance issues on our 2019 Honda Fit as it is no lower than the bottom pan. However, you should be aware that a bike rack for example sticking out the back of the car from the hitch will scrape on even modest slope driveways. We pull into the street to park at the curb before installing our rack and mounting bicycles.

I needed an unusual hitch for my car and was told by the company that what they will send would be fine. It was and there were no problems in delivery or installation.

I bought a trailer hitch and the wiring harness from etrailer on line. I watched several videos on the installation procedures but changed my mind about doing it myself. I searched google for Seattle area companies that install hitches and because of the great reviews I called [local company] and set an appointment.
After the installation one of the Technicians took me out to the shop and went over the install and hooked up the harness to the lights up on the shop wall. Brakes, turn signals, brake and turn signals together and the emergency flashers worked flawlessly. He showed me the fuse on the battery and went over the tongue weight and tow capacity limits. Back into the office, Rob went over the awesome warranty.
This was a super clean install! Great service and price. 4 Stars is not enough for this company.
As for the Hitch itself, the 2” receiver is the way to go. No need for an adapter to bring it up for 1 1/2” receiver that most all companies offer for my Honda Fit.
Thank you eTrailer.

Since this is the only 2" receiver for honda fit I highly recommend it. I did the install myself which took about 4 hours with help from a friend. It is straight forward, but I have the 2019 honda fit Sport model which due to its different rear bumper trim I was concerned the hitch would not fit without having to cut the fascia in a weird way because of the ridges in the sport model trim. I did not need to cut into the middle ridge of the rear bumper. The hitch fit just below it :). Overall the product is great, but it does require some tools which not everyone may have. Autobody shop quoted me about $xxx for the labor so I was glad I did it on my own, but you will definitely want to watch some videos from etrailer before hand and have someone else help.

It’s the only

I was getting ready to own an E-bike... and needed a new car. My car of choice, Honda Fit, because it would accept a 2 inch hitch.
Car bought.
Hitch ordered.
Darn COVID caused the delivery to be slow.
Hitch arrived.
Found a business to install hitch.
Hauled my new E-bike (meanwhile bought it) from OKC to ABQ.
Absolutely no problems... Hitch stayed put, bike stayed put, color me happy. :)

Great product. It's the only 2" available for the Fit. I followed the video for the 2016 Fit version of the same product (appears to be the same thing, even same price). Came out perfect. Took about 3 hours, needed an extra hand lifting everything into place. A right angle philips screwdriver is needed to get behind the rear wheels. Read the instructions, and don't remove the two push pins above the exhaust, they just hold in a small plastic exhaust cover. The recommended cut in the bumper cover is a little narrow, I had to open it up about 1/2 inch to fit back over the hitch. But, overall very happy with the product!

  • Recommended Bike Rack for a Priority Cruiser Step Through Bike
Unless your 2019 Honda Fit has the EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch item # EH78VR installed then the Swagman Current Bike Rack item # S64678 will not work. This bike rack fits class II only 1-1/4" receivers and all 2" receivers. The other 1-1/4 hitches listed for your vehicle and the factory one are class I only. The Swagman Current item # S64678 would need also need an adapter bar like item # 64005 to work with your Priority Cruiser step through bike due to the sloping frame. From what I...

  • Availability of a 2" Trailer Hitch Receiver For a 2020 Honda Fit
The EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver # EH78VR is confirmed to fit your 2020 Honda Fit. This has the 2" receiver you are needing. I recommend installing the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118767 when you install the receiver. This will give you a 4-way flat connector which will allow for Auxiliary Lights # C53201 if you are using a hitch mounted accessory such as a bike rack which impairs the view of your tail lights.

  • Does EcoHitch for 2019 Honda Fit Require Fascia Trimming
The EcoHitch part # EH78VR is the only 2 inch hitch option available for your 2019 Honda Fit and while we haven't had the chance to shoot an install video I did send you a separate email with a PDF of the install instructions. You will need to do some trimming of the lower fascia to install the hitch.

  • Is Shop Needed to Install EcoHitch Trailer Hitch on 2018 Honda Fit Sport
Hey David, A bit of fascia trimming on the underside of your 2018 Honda Fit Sport is needed to install the EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver # EH78VR. It won't be visible but is needed so the receiver has a spot to protrude from under your car. I have added a photo below a customer sent in of this hitch on their Honda Fit Sport so you can see how it'll look. As for the install, it isn't a requirement for a shop to do, it just depends on how handy you generally are and if it's something...
