Can be keyed alike to match other etrailer locks.Used this to lock my Hitch Adapter to the 1.25" hitch of my 08 Honda Fit. Works great. Still had to get a hitch clamp due to too much play between the adapter and my hitch, but the lock does what it's supposed to do. Very easy to use and comes with (2) keys. Would highly recommend buying if you want to secure any accessory to your 1.25" hitch.
Doesn't fit through the receiver and the extension to lock it onto my car so it pretty much worthless. Cannot seem to make contact with anyone at e-trailer to return it

Gene M - 02/03/2020This is an easy lock to use, and stows really well whenever it's not in use, and is well constructed! I look forward to many more years of good use. I especially like that I was able to get it keyed to match a similar lock for my 2" hitch!

Walter D - 05/03/2022This product has some very subtle features that add substantially to it's functionality. There is no "UP" or "DOWN" for the key - it fits both ways! You can turn the lock end or the pin end to undo it - good if one side is difficult to reach! And I was able to buy three of them from etrailer.com that were all keyed alike! I have two Model Ts and a Model A all with trailer hitches for pulling a vintage camper and now I don't have to worry about having the right key when I go on a trip.
Like the fact that you can get several that are keyed the same. We have a drop extension, and need two locks. So far, no rust in the Pacific NW.

Purchased two of these for a custom dual 1.5" auxiliary receivers. Wasn't sure if it was going to fit because they have a 2" OD receiver, but these fit nice and snug. No slop or play which is exactly what I was looking for and they were keyed alike.
The etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock came as promised and worked well on my 1-1/4" hitch receiver. The instructions for locking and unlocking were clear, and I now feel that my bike rack is safe and sound locked on the receiver. Great product!

This lock has different way of unlocking and locking by turning the key in the lock until it opens or is locked. Not a bad thing as the lock appears to have excellent security against attempts to break it by thieves. The finish on the lock appears to have good protection against the elements. All hitch locks should be designed this well. The one that matches it is the Bulldog hitch lock for a 2 inch receiver.
Have not seen any rust after a year. I appreciate the simple locking mechanism, easy to unlock and lock. The added cap to the key hole helps prevents residue from building up.
While this seems to be a sturdy, well-made product, it is not the optimum set-up for a Subaru Outback equipped with a factory-installed 1.25" hitch. Quite simply, the pin hole drilled in the 1.25" section is not where it should be. In order for it to line up with the hole in the Subaru hitch, the hole would need to be another 1.5" or so closer to the "rear". Not that this doesn't work, for it does--- but with the unit sticking out yet another 1.5" or so from the hitch. To remedy this, I drilled another half inch hole into the unit where it should be located. Now it works great, but it took considerable effort (and a $20 titanium drill bit) to get it right. Again, this unit will work in a Subaru Outback without drilling another hole in it; it's just not optimal.
