Less Rattle, More Peace of Mind

Let's be honest, towing is all about metal-on-metal contact. So some noises are bound to happen. But, you don't want to be checking your rearview mirror at every pop , bang , squeak , and clank you hear behind you. These sounds just aren't comforting to hear when you're hauling upwards of 5 tons. You want to trust that whatever you're using to pull that much weight is built to last, and a hitch that rattles when you shake it doesn't build much confidence, now does it?

A top-down view of the etrailer adjustable ball mount shows very little space between the ball mount and the adjustable channel

Like you, we think towing should be easy and carefree, so we wanted to give you one less noise to worry about. That's why we've designed this hitch with pins that allow for tighter tolerances than others in its class. It really quiets the amount of shake and rattle, so all you have to do is just roll.

Double-Duty Corrosion Resistance

A close-up view of the etrailer adjustable ball mount compares its black powder coat finish with some visible signs of rust on the hitch receiver

Most ball mounts have just 1 layer of paint or powder coat to protect them from the outside world. Scratch this away after towing just a couple times, and the raw metal underneath will start to rust before you know it. Some folks take pride in that rusty, worn-in look. After all, rust is proof that you've had plenty of road-worn adventures.

But we prefer something that works hard and looks like it's barely broken a sweat. That's why we added a layer of e-coat underneath the matte black powder coat to give you an extra layer of rust protection. So while others might be driving around with a flaking, rusted-out hitch, yours will be looking great for the long haul.

Quick Tip: As for the hitch ball itself, if you really want to make sure that black nickel stays looking fresh for longer, we suggest greasing it up before you tow.

  • Parts Needed To Tow A Trailer With Brakes With A 2021 Hyundai Tucson
Hey Kevin, For a 2021 Hyundai Tucson I have the following recommendations: Trailer Hitch: etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e54AR. ***Note this will not fit Night Edition models with dual exhaust tips*** 4-Pole Wire Harness: Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness # C89KR. This will splice into your factory wiring and give you a connector to transfer your light signals to the trailer. 7-Way: To be able to actuate the brakes on your trailer you'll need to then install the # ETBC7....

  • Recommended Towing And Roof Rack Components For A 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe
Hi Linda, For a 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe you'll want the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e98843 for the hitch and the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118784 for the wiring. A 2" trailer hitch is definitely the way to go since most accessories are made for 2" hitches and if you had a 1-1/4" accessory you could just use an reducer sleeve. To mount the 4-pole connector to the trailer hitch crossmember you can use no-drill mount # 18140. You'll still need a ball mount to tow a trailer...

  • Comparing The Etrailer Adjustable Ball Mount E66PR To B&W Tow And Stow BW29FR And BulletProof MD206
Great question Luke! These are all great options, but let me point out a few differences for you. The etrailer Adjustable 2-Ball Mount # e66PR is a good quality, affordable option compared to similar options like the BulletProof Hitches 2-Ball Mount # MD206. They both have a matte black finish and have a 2" and 2-5/16" ball, but I think the that the corrosion resistance of the black nickel hitch ball and hardware and solid feel of the etraler ball mount make it stand out for the price....

  • Towing A Small Trailer With A 2007 Acura RDX SH-AWD - What Are My Best Options?
Hey Tyler, those are a lot of great questions, and I am happy to help. According to the online manual, a 2007 Acura RDX can tow up to 1,500 lbs. Meaning you can definitely pull small trailers as long as you stay under 1,500 lbs total. Your best option for a hitch is the Curt Class 3 Hitch # 13536. This hitch has a 2" receiver which is very much standard. There is one other common hitch size, the 1-1/4" hitch, but the 2" is extremely common. You can easily find accessories like ball...

Hi Erica, For your 2020 GMC Terrain I recommend going with the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e59ZR for the trailer hitch as long as this isn't a diesel model. If you have a diesel model you'll need the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # 76217 instead. The # e59ZR is a simple bolt-on design and comes with a 2" receiver tube opening to mount your accessories in. For the wire harness you'll need the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness for Factory Tow Package # TK67KR if this model...

  • Availability Of 1-7/8" Ball For etrailer Adjustable 2-Ball Mount e66PR
Hello Thomas, thanks for reaching out. I checked with our product development team, and at this time there are no immediate plans to make a 1-7/8" ball for the etrailer Adjustable 2-Ball Mount # e66PR. The idea has been floated around a few times but never really gained any traction. Personally, I would like to see one since it would make our ball mount much more versatile, but it sounds like it may be quite a while until that happens. If you are looking for an adjustable ball mount with...

  • Recommended Adjustable Ball Mount for a 2014 Ram ProMaster 1500 with a 2 Hitch Receiver
Choosing an adjustable ball mount is a great idea for when you have multiple towing applications. Since the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # 75882 for your 2014 Ram ProMaster 1500 (non-EXT model) has a 2" hitch receiver I recommend picking up the etrailer Adjustable 2-Ball Mount # e66PR which offers a 6" rise/drop. I'm attaching a photo showing how to measure your current trailer to make sure this will work for your application.

  • Recommended Ball Mount for Towing a Trailer with a 2019 Honda Odyssey and etrailer Trailer Hitch
You are definitely on the right track! When we installed the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e98855 on a 2019 Honda Odyssey we found that from the ground to the top of the inside of the receiver measured 14". When you subtract that from the 16" measurement you took for your trailer coupler that gives you a difference of 2". This means you are looking at a ball mount with a rise of about 2" (see attached picture). For your application I highly recommend the etrailer.com Ball Mount Kit...

To determine the amount of rise or drop in a ball mount that you will need to tow a trailer level there are a couple of measurements needed. First make sure the trailer is on level ground. Use the jack to make the trailer level then measure from the ground to the bottom of the coupler. Then on the vehicle measure from the ground to the top of the receiver opening on the trailer hitch. If the vehicle is higher then the difference is the amount of drop you will need. If the trailer is higher...

I recommend the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e79AR since it has a matte black finish which blends in and looks OEM, and has the common 2" opening for various ball mounts and accessories. This is a brand new product as of 6/4/2024 and there are no additional attachments for it. • Does Etrailer Adjustable Hitch E66PR Fit 2024 Nissan Frontier With OEM Receiver?
Hey Jonathan, you are correct. The etrailer Adjustable Ball Mount # E66PR has been tested on a 2024 Nissan Frontier and because the hitch receiver sits too far inside (only 3" from hitch pin hole to bumper), this ball mount will hit the bumper when trying to line up the hitch pin holes for installation (see photo).
