These things are awesome and leagues above to typical bolt-on flange types, which are annoying to remove and reattach. I recently took at trip with these and did some Cat 4+ wheeling over some rocky terrain replete with mud and pot holes. I have two on both front and rear hitches. One carries a large hitch basket and the other a HitchFire swing arm cargo table with gear. While the camper in my bed got tossed up a bit, both hitches remained secure and rigid. Very impressed. Build quality is excellent, easy to install and change out implements. They feel solid and sturdy, will likely last a lifetime.

These are some awesome pics, Clarence! you really took it to the test. I was also curious about your in bed camper and just had to look it up, they look pretty awesome! Happy camping!

I'm impressed with your anti rattle product. It works really great with my bike carrier and I'm really liking not having to use a wrench anymore to stabilize it. I've been clamping my hitch plug with it too.

Thanks, Ray! We are proud of this part and love knowing our neighbors like it too! I really appreciate you taking your time to give us some feedback. And if you ever run into trouble with the part - let us know about that as well! ;)

by:

It seems to work well. Had to use the alternative installation with the tightening knob at the top right rather than at the bottom. After installation, the hitch is solid and does not rattle. One negative is the pin is tighter and harder to get through. I had to hammer the pin in so I could get the lock on it

@Ramsey I talked to our team that designed this and they said that if you insert the pin/lock first and then tighten the anti-rattle, that should alleviate the problem :) Let me know!

We would definitely be interested i hearing your experience with it once you're back from your trip!

by:

So my first impression after the installation is very good. I did have to turn the collar 90 degrees so I could install my locking draw bar pin. Once I did that install was a snap! I hooked up my boat and made a quick trip around the neighborhood to test it out, and was pretty impressed with the lack of noise and clunking I experienced. After twin the boat a couple of miles the thumb screw did start to loosen up, and I noticed just a hint of rattle. I used a pair of pliers to add just a touch more tension and that seemed to help. I think if you don't do that you may run the risk of the thumb screw backing out on a long tow. I see the reasoning behind the design, but for me I think I would prefer a nut to get enough tension so I wasn't worrying about things getting loose and coming apart. I do think the overall design and ease of use is outstanding! I guess the best endorsement I can give is that I plan to purchase another unit for my motorhome also. As always shipping and customer service is top notch!

by:

I received an advanced delivery of this amazing product.  I have already used this a lot because I have a dual ball hitch and flipping over to the other ball is super fast and easy - no tools required and it clamps down solid.  Same with my hitch step, it locked down all movement!  100% recommend!

Look great Doug! What kind of bikes are you hauling?

by:

I recently used the eTrailer anti-rattle collar on a long trip and it exceeded my expectations. I appreciated how it eliminated hitch noise during my 1,300-mile journey, even through road grime, snow, salt, and mud. Despite the harsh conditions, the collar stayed secure and still looked great by the end of the trip. The installation was straightforward and super easy, and I loved how convenient it was to switch out accessories without needing tools! Overall, this is a fantastic, hassle-free solution for anyone who tows or regularly switches out hitch accessories.

by:

The build quality is excellent. Also very easy to use. I have not had the chance to go on a trip as of yet, so I cant' tell of the unit will keep the shaft in place for extended periods. But based on what I have seen I am hopeful. The unit is installed on a 2021 Ford Ranger.

I've looked at
several anti-rattle devices over the years but never liked any one of them to buy one. They just look like they're too much of a hassle and I would probably use the ones that I've looked at once. But when I saw this one, I knew I was going to buy it. I think the cost is a little high, but I would buy it again. It's well built and a snap to use. Installation was easy and I like the fact that it is intended to be left on the hitch. Well done etrailer

Excellent product! It works great for my Honda side by side where I added a spare tire rack to the hitch however I will need to get an extended pin lock for my main hitch on the side by side and my Honda Ridgeline pickup as the shorter pin lock hits the the collar and will not work. All is good and is easier to remove the hitch versus getting your 3/4 inch wrench to undo the other type of anti rattle apparatus.

Installed this on our 2017 Chevy Express Cargo Van for use with our Propride hitch, towing a Grand Design Imagine 2670MK Travel trailer. We have towed twice so far and haven't had any clunking or sloppiness from the hitch. So it is doing it's intended job so far. Really nice not having to take on and off the previous anti rattle device that we were using - it had to be removed every time we removed the Propride stinger (aka hitch). Saves my husband time and effort and for that we give it 5 stars. Hope it holds up well in the long run.

I know that’s frustrating, but we’re working on updating our information to make sure future customers are aware. I really appreciate your feedback and photos—they’ll be super helpful for others with OEM Toyota hitches. I also went ahead and processed a refund for your order. • Will The Wing Nut On The etrailer Anti-Rattle Hitch Collar e38FV Come Loose Over Time?
Hey Gary, thanks for reaching out. When using the etrailer Anti-Rattle Hitch Collar # e38FV, you will want to check the wing nut every time you tow. Anytime you change accessories, or load/unload you will want to check and make sure it is tight. As long as you do this, you will not have to worry about it coming loose unexpectedly.

  • Can etrailer Anti-Rattle Device be Used with Weight Distribution
Hey David, yes you can use the etrailer anti-rattle device part # e38FV with weight distribution systems. Is your system still noisy when it's hooked up? Normally with all of the spring tension there isn't nearly as much movement/noise.

  • Will the etrailer Anti-Rattle Hitch Collar e38FV Work w/ Rock Tamer Mud Flaps?
Yes, it will but you'll need a minimum of 2" between the edge of your hitch receiver and the back of the ball mount face. The etrailer Anti-Rattle Hitch Collar item # e38FV extends out 3/4" from the edge of your hitch receiver, this includes the allen screws. The collar on the Rock Tamers item # ERT00108 attaches to the ball mount and is 1" wide. What you'll want to do is insert your ball mount without the Rock Tamers or a hitch collar installed and measure from the edge of the receiver...

  • Does etrailer Anti-Rattle Hitch Collar # e38FV Stop Horizontal and Vertical Movement
Hey Greg, yes the etrailer Anti-Rattle Hitch Collar # e38FV would stop movement vertically and horizontally. The bolt on the bottom pins it vertically but it also holds it with enough friction to prevent side to side movement. Plus the slot for the gusset of the ball mount accomplishes this too.

You will need trailer wiring too to control the taillights of your trailer and for that I would go with the # 119250KIT which does not require any splicing into the vehicle's taillight connectors. To reduce noise the etrailer anti-rattle part # e38FV would be a really good option as it will hold the ball mount tight to the hitch opening. We don't have any suspension...

Hey there Lisa, hope you're having a great day. So you actually brought up a really good question. The etrailer Anti-Rattle Hitch Collar for 2" Hitch Receivers # e38FV uses a gate that comes down and makes contact with the shank of the bike rack or ball mount, and this will not interfere with the hitch pin that is included in some bike racks, such as with the Yakima OnRamp LX Bike Rack for 2 Electric Bikes - 2" Hitches # Y88DJ. Hey Wally, yes the etrailer anti-rattle device part # e38FV will work great with a weight distribution shank like what you have on your Equal-i-zer system. Do you feel a lot of movement with your system? Typically with all of that spring tension you don't see or hear as much movement as you do with a standard ball mount since it puts a lot of tension into the shank which binds it up in the hitch.

The reason why it cannot be installed upside down is because of the weight of the shank that will be in the receiver.
