This magnetic hitch reducer adapts your 2-1/2" receiver for use with 2" hitch accessories. Slides into your reciver and is held in place by 2 strong magnets. Hitch pin and clip or hitch lock sold separately.Nice design is huge improvement over straight tube adapter. Face plate and tube to rear of receiver will support the hitch better, slotted pin opening for ease of alignment, and magnets to keep it quiet. I’m a fan and haven’t even used it yet!
The part that I received was misfabricated. I contacted etrailer about a replacement, they emailed with instructions on the information they needed and a request for a picture. I responded within 30 mins. After 2 days I still haven’t received a response on how this will be handled. Do better etrailer, this was a small part of a nearly $1,000 order that I needed for a trip, you had plenty of time to make this right and not impact my trip, I explained this to KellyP during the initial phone call but it made no difference.
I am very pleased with the design and the quality of this reducer sleeve. It smoothly fits into the 2.5 inch receiver and is easily pinned in place. The magnets hold it in place nicely. Fabrication looks first rate. Thank you for a GOOD product.
Great idea with the magnets and elongated pin hole.
But a very POOR design , Bought & Returned. Loose tolerances , way too much vertical & horizontal shank movement for my set up 2024 F 250 factory 3 inch receiver.New 2 inch Curt shank. The wall thickness is
0.1875 - 3/16 it needs to be 0.25 1/4 inch for a tighter fit.
The length is only 5 inches , needs to be 6 inch to create more stability within the receiver tube. Even with about 800 lbs vertical load on the WD hitch ball there's too much slop for me. etrailer or whoever controls the Chinese manufacture should pony up another $1.20 in material cost and use the thicker / longer steel channel. Might be OK for a utility trailer or bike rack , no way I would use this reducer as one of the hitch components to tow a $$$ Airstream
Not the best fit, the hitch/ball moves up and down a good half inch.
which will make your load feel loose, it makes for a joucing effect when stopping, I've tried a few different one's even the high dollar adjustable type and still have the same problem with a sloppy fit.
Although seemingly mundane this hitch sleeve is very well designed. The tolerances are well executed so fit into my truck is perfect. The magnetic design provides extra security. One feature that I find genious is the long oval holes on each side making it super simple to line up the hitch pin after inserting into the receiver. I highly recommend this product!
The product is great. shipping service they use sucks they use USPS economy product arrived four days after was supposed to had to cancel Weekend trip Not A happy camper
fast shipper great product for fixing 2-1/2 to 2 receiver issue
From an alignment standpoint, it fits perfectly in the Ford F250 Superduty receiver. The real test will be to see if the reducer sleeve's magnets keeps it aligned with the hitch pin holes with no movement when I insert my 40LB travel trailer hitch and then try to insert the hitch pin. My hope is the magnets are strong enough to allow sliding the travel trailer hitch in and out while the reducer sleeve remains aligned with the hitch pin holes. I will provide a future update on this.
This receiver reducer sleeve was just what was needed for us! In order to allow our Towtector to fit between the drawbar on our truck and the end of the receiver, the reducer had to insert completely. All of the "normal" reducers with a single hole rather than a slot still extended an inch or so from the receiver when the holes for the pin were aligned. The slot feature of this reducer allowed the hole in the receiver to align with the reducer anywhere along the length of the slot and provided just enough extra space between the end of the reducer and the haunch of the drawbar to allow the rock guard to fit. The magnets were an added bonus as they fix the reducer in the receiver and make it easier to get the pin through all pieces. As always, e-trailer was a pleasure to work with during ordering, delivery and post shipment follow up.
I have bought several adapters over the years. This has nice tight tolerance to my hitch. The magnets are great to keep it in place when switching hitches!
This magnetic hitch receiver reducer sounded like a great idea. I used it with a 6000lb trailer with an F-350 and Equalizer weight distribution hitch. The light loading on the WDH allowed the adapter to slide to the end of the slot, and then with the reduced length for weight distribution totally destroyed one of the magnets. Maybe this wasn't intended for weight distribution or my particular set up. It was a good idea that didn't work for me.
The question is, why do they still make the other more common kind of sleeve with the single hole? This design is superior. No more struggling to get the hitch pin aligned when its 5 degrees out. And the "no rattle" magnets are the icing on the cake.
This thing is awesome - so much easier to slide in and out of the receiver hitch than the one that came with my vehicle, since the flange gives you something to grab on to.
The magnets do a great job of holding the unit in place, when inserting the hitch, but it's still relatively easy to remove by simply sliding it out.
This is a great reducer, especially with the magnets. Only problem: I have a 2022 Ram 2500 crew cab with the 6.7 diesel.
The top of the reducer is about 1/16th of an inch too tall to get under the bumper. I had to grind it down slightly.
It doesn't fit as snugly in my GM factory receiver as I would like, but the magnet a strong and prevent rattling. Of course, no magnet is going to hold it tight to the receiver with a 300lb. tongue load. Overall. I'm very satisfied
The top lip of the hitch receiver is too high to fit flush under the bumper. It sticks out about 1/2 inch. Works fine otherwise
This is the receiver reducer I should have bought in the first place instead of going on Amazon and finding one that was mostly good enough. This thing slides right in and stays there while I slide the tongue in, and the elongated hole means I get a perfect mount on the first try.
This is brilliant. I struggled constantly with the cheap adapters. They either didn’t fit or they move around as you insert the 2” hitch. This fits and works perfect. Trailer hitch is 2 1/2” but other hitch’s I have are 2” so I will leave it in the truck for use when required. Thank you etrailer.
magnets did not stick to receiver on a 2019 f250

John, thank you for reaching out. The magnets should definitely be sticking. I will have our Customer Service team reach out to you.
Works great and doesn’t slide out when changing hitch.
Works perfectly and looks great. When in place in the receiver, it looks like an OEM adapter.
Works great and the slot made it much easier to insert the locking pin.
Nice project. Is a little loose in the receiver and should be about 2-3” longer
I’m really impressed in how beefy this adapter is built.

Hey William, thank you for reaching out. What you would want to use is part # e33YR which is meant to be used with a 3 inch receiver. It will reduce it to a 2.5 or 2 inch receiver. This reducer part # e28JR works to bring down a 2.5 inch to a 2 inch receiver.
