Use this corrosion-resistant actuator to synchronize your trailer brakes with your tow-vehicle brakes. Over-center latch mechanism only engages when the actuator is fully seated on 2" hitch ball. Designed for hydraulic disc brake applications.

Features:

  • Hydraulic actuator activates trailer's brakes when tow vehicle slows or stops
  • Electric reverse lockout lets you back up without actuating trailer brakes
    • Solenoid activates automatically when you shift into reverse
  • Low-profile coupler latch ensures easy, secure connection
    • Over-center latch mechanism only engages when the actuator is fully seated on hitch ball
  • Aluminum master cylinder is better at reducing corrosion than cast steel master cylinders
  • Zinc plating offers excellent corrosion resistance
  • Bolt-on installation
  • Made in the USA

Specs:

  • Application: hydraulic disc brakes
  • Ball size: 2"
  • Fits 3" wide trailer tongues
    • Mounting holes positioned 3/4" down
  • Capacity: 7,500 lbs
  • 2-Year limited warranty

When you apply the brakes in your tow vehicle, deceleration occurs and momentum pushes your trailer toward the rear of your vehicle. With surge brake systems, the actuator is triggered as your trailer moves forward while the tow vehicle slows. The actuator telescopes, applying force to its master cylinder, which in turn supplies the necessary hydraulic pressure to engage the trailer's brakes.

Pros.

Works great really noticed
the difference right away.

Ed W. with etrailer was great to work with helped determine which one to get.

It was a fairly simple install.

Con.

The reverse lockout was further away than my original, just a little, so my brake line was too short.

Auto parts places didn't have a flex that fit the thread. I was doing this on a Sunday so I had to drive across town to a trailer guy who was open for a flex line.

I would give it 4.7 stars if I could would of gave a 5 star had they included a short flex line with the kit.

It's about a 2 hour job with everything you need I spent an extra 2+hours getting a part.

All in all been using for a year and I am completely satisfied.

by:

The product is as expected and an exact replacement for my trailer. The exceptional part of the transaction was the speed my order was filled and shipped.

by:

Ordered brake actuator from Etrailer after several attempts from EZTrailee with no response. Wished I had checked out Etrailer sooner. Received notification at each billing, shipping.
It was easy to find the parts got fast shipping with working brakes now, can enjoy the boat again. This is the third trailer you helped me repair with correct parts, fast shipping
Many thanks guys

by:

Item was great. Information was completely helpful to install. Great customer service and support.

by:

Paid 115 for next day shipping, obviously it was very important. They never sent me a tracking and made excuses....not sure why it was a secret

by:

Very sturdy material and well made. Works as designed and the electrical lock out for disc brakes is very useful.

Manual lock out lever key could be magnetized to avoid falling off.

by:

Product is just as advertised !

by:

I was very pleased with the help from the staff when I ordered it. I was thrilled that I received it in 3 days! Thanks!

by:

Arrived on time and well packaged. Looks to fit as expected.

by:

This product doesn’t fit over 3” tongue. Its the exact same size as a 3” tongue.Unusable. Had to remove the internal portion and modify my trailer tongue to fit. Arrived as the worst packaged item I’ve ever received. It was barely still in the box. Whom ever packaged this didn’t have a clue what they were doing.

by:

It was a direct replacement and worked flawlessly. Thanks

by:

The product came unboxed, missing instructions and no spare break away clips. I purchased a new actuator and got one that was laying around.

by:

The manual lockout device, supplied with the actuator, requires a second person to hold it in place when backing. It will not stay in place on its own.

by:

Wow, my order showed up within days and I’m very impressed. I have not installed the coupler yet but looks like a quality product. Thank you!

by:

E trailer is the best. I have bought dozens of items from them an it was always a great experience. Customer service is the best.

by:

  • Is Dexter Zinc-Plated, Leverlock Coupler Available in a 7K Weight Rating
To get the Dexter Zinc-Plated, Leverlock Coupler # T4845000 in a higher weight rating you'll need to bump up to a hydraulic actuator like what we see with part # DX89FR which has a 7.5K weight rating. For an alternative standard coupler solution I recommend checking out the Demco Channel Tongue Trailer Coupler # DM13689-95 which uses an eZ-Latch, is rated for 10K lbs, and bolts onto your trailer frame. This coupler is also Made in the USA and is backed by a 1-year limited warranty so as...

  • Option For Replacing Swing-Away Actuator On A 2005 Mastercraft Boat Trailer
We do have a potential solution for you. Unfortunately, the swing away actuators like the one on your 2005 Mastercraft trailer have been discontinued, so I am afraid there is no direct replacement, or anything that will fit inside the current swing away. At this point we would have to recommend replacing the tongue of the trailer entirely, all the way down to the swing away. For a replacement option I recommend the Dexter DX7.5L A-60 Brake Actuator w Electric Lockout # DX89FR. This has...

  • Help With Installing Dexter DX7.5L A-60 Brake Actuator On Boat Trailer
The Dexter DX7.5L A-60 Actuator # DX56FR you have is designed to be mounted on the end of the trailer frame as seen in the image below. Based on how your actuator was mounted the Actuator # DX89FR would best install like your current actuator. If you choose to continue with the actuator you have you will need to slide it onto the frame as seen in the image I attached and drill for all 4 holes.

  • Replacement Actuator for a TDE Model LP7000
To replace your TDE Model LP7000 actuator, I recommend the Dexter DX7.5L A-60 Brake Actuator w Electric Lockout item # DX89FR. This coupler is designed to mount on top of a standard 3" wide trailer tongue. It measures right at 3-3/8" wide so this will fit into your 3-1/2" tongue. I recommend using some washers to make up the slight gap you are going to have on either side. This actuator is designed for disc brakes, it has a 7,500 lbs capacity, and fits a 2" ball.

For a replacement option I recommend the Dexter DX7.5L A-60 Brake Actuator w Electric Lockout # DX89FR. Any swing-away actuators like your ACT-7.5K have been discontinued so this is the best solution. This has a 7,500 lb trailer capacity, is designed for trailers with disc brakes, and is a bolt on replacement. • Is There 7,500 lb Surge Actuator For Disc Brakes With Grease Zerk
Correct, you do have to remove the inner assembly to grease the rollers of the Dexter DX7.5L A-60 Brake Actuator w Electric Lockout - Bolt On - Disc # DX89FR. You would have to remove the retaining ring and its washer on the roller pins to then take out the inner assembly, and if you are looking for ease of use in that regard it isn't the most optimal. I know you said you liked the low profile, but if greasing the rollers is more important to you then you'd have to get a standard actuator,...

  • Can Inner Slide Member be Replaced on UFP A-60 Actuator to Upgrade from Drum to Disc Brakes
I do have an option for you but we wouldn't be able to provide a new inner slide member for the UFP A-60 Brake Actuator to convert this from drum to disc, it would need to be replaced in its entirely as it's simply too old. I recommend the Dexter DX7.5L A-60 Brake Actuator part # DX89FR which will be a great fairly bolt-on swap for your existing actuator and it's rated for disc brakes so it allows you to upgrade for better stopping power.

The Dexter DX7.5L A-60 Brake Actuator w Electric Lockout # DX89FR unfortunately doesn't have a manual lockout option so you wouldn't be able to reverse without activating the brakes on the trailer. To solve this issue you can either install 5-pole wiring on each tow vehicle to connect to the electric lockout or you can swap out the brakes on the trailer to free-backing brake assemblies.
