Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

Fast and easy installation by my local truck shop. Well worth doing this if you want a bike rack or hitch carrier on your Tesla...and why wouldn't you?

I apologize that it arrived this way. Sometimes when hitches are shipped to us they rub against each other as they are shipped in large pallets all together. This causes imperfections to the powder coat. We will contact you about the damage. Look out for an email.

2022 Tesla Model Y

Just installed on a 2024 Model Y. Very similar to earlier model year install videos but with a few different interior trim panels.

by:
2021 Tesla Model Y

Etrailer is awesome, they offer great prices and their install videos are incredibly helpful. My install went as expected. Hitch has been working well for me; I use it for a bike rack to haul around up to 4 bikes.

by:

The draw-tight trailer hitch arrived as expected, I let packaged. The installation was a breeze, especially with the online videos for installation on a Tesla Model Y. I could not have expected any better of an experience from etrailer as they always deliver great products.

Draw-tight hitch after a year of use has been perfect. I use it to haul a bicycle rack with two mountain bikes and have rented a travel trailer to pull to a local RV park and it worked flawlessly.

2023 Tesla Model Y

Works on my 2023 Teslat Model Y LR.
3
hour install for me, took my time and watched the videos a few times.
Straight forward instructions and solid Hitch receiver.

by:

Hitch is sturdy and goos quality. Took roughly about 2 hours to install as it says on the website. The only con is that you are loosing your factory tow hook on the back but who’s even towing someone out of the ditch, it’d be very rare and I guess u can buy hitch attachment with hook if you really want it. If you really meed it go with the other hitch option the ‘Eco….’. Overall etrailer.com never disappoints, I have shopped here many times and will do as soon as I need something else from them!

by:
2021 Tesla Model Y

Easier to install than I expected. Took under 2 hours, but pet of that time was we forgot to plug in the rear bumper ultrasonic sensors so we spent time getting it plugged back in. We could have pulled the bumper off but with the hitch cover removed and a long and skinny arm we were able to get it plugged back in. The directions weren’t the greatest on the paper but I was able to follow a video from [online site] Still, the product was in perfect shape when it arrived, and it arrived quick. Install went well and now my two friends that are both ordering Model Ys are going to go this route instead of paying Tesla $[XXXX]+ tax. Would highly recommend!

Haven’t installed it yet but it looks good so far

2023 Tesla Model Y

Installation is kinda a pain but that's because of Tesla's design only. The hitch appears nice quality. I have not received my cargo attachments yet so I have not gotten to use it yet.

by:

Very strong hitch.Replaces rear aluminum bumper.
Perfect fit for Tesla Model Y!

by:

Super easy install ... video etrailer produced was super helpful!

by:

Good hitch, fits perfect, great quality, excellent customer service always.

by:

I just got this trailer hitch in the mail delivered today. When I opened it up I was very pleased of how robust it looks. Thank you. etrailer for making a heavy duty trailer hitch for my Tesla model Y so I can haul my dirtbike around.

by:
2021 Tesla Model Y

This is a solid hitch! Installation is very straight forward. On my Tesla model Y, (after removing the bumper) I simply removed the bumper bar and the hitch mounts up to the existing bolts. Torque to spec and your good to go. Nice to have saved more than $[XXX] buying an aftermarket hitch vs. buying it from Tesla. Now I can carry my bikes - thanks etrailer!

by:

I had placed an order with another company and after waiting 2 weeks without the product even shipping yet, I cancelled the order with them and went to etrailer.com. The same hitch system was ordered and scheduled to arrive in 4 days, but showed up in just 2 days, saving my road trip that I had planned for the next week Amazing. Thank you!

by:

Package was damaged. Part is scratched up. Poor packaging on a etrailer box.

This is definitely not how we want the hitch to arrive to you. Customer Service will be in contact with you.

by:

It was shipped fast , I received my hitch on time . It's very sturdy and fits my Tesla model Y just like the original at a quarter of a price . Even though the box was tossed around by UPS and it opened a cut on the box it only made a little scratch since the hitch is so rigid.

by:
2022 Tesla Model Y

I was happy with the price, speed of delivery, and the product. It came just a few days after I ordered it, and installation only took a few hours. My only complaint is that the hole for the pin is not a full 5/8" on the right (as it is on the left) so you cannot use a standard pin. Had I known this ahead of time, I would have drilled it out. I assume this is a strategy to get you to buy a special pin, which is annoying.

by:

Quinn was super helpful in allowing me to return one hitch we had ordered for a BMW and exchanging it for one that fit our new Tesla. The hitch has been installed, looks great (actually, you can't see it) and all is good. I have no hesitation in recommending these guys.

by:
2021 Tesla Model Y

The directions suggested 2-3 to install. We installed in 90 min !! Great product !!

by:
2022 Tesla Model Y

Instructions were thorough about fastener removal counts. We’ll made and robust product. Video was excellent and very instructive. If there were work instructions that summarized that video with images, that would be extremely helpful.

  • What Modifications are Needed to Install Hidden Hitch on 2022 Lexus RX 450H
The Hidden Hitch part # DT58MR that you referenced does not require any drilling to install and would only require some minor heat shield modification like you mentioned. Then for trailer wiring you'd want the Tekonsha kit part # 118255 which installs very easily and is very reliable. With that said it does store underneath the vehicle but this is the only style available for your vehicle.

  • Does Bumper Beam Get Puck Back on 2021 Tesla Model Y w/ Draw-Tite Hitch DT58MR
The stock bumper beam/crash bar does not get put back on your 2021 Tesla Model Y when installing the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # DT58MR. The bumper beam will remain off, which is indeed different than the installation of the EcoHitch Invisi Trailer Hitch Receiver # EH39FR. The Draw-Tite hitch essentially replaces the bumper beam, while the EcoHitch fits in behind the beam.

  • What is the Weight Difference Between the Draw-Tite DT58MR vs EcoHitch EH39FR
The Draw-Tite # DT58MR and EcoHitch # EH39FR that will fit your 2021 Tesla Model Y have very little weight difference. The # EH39FR will weigh 35 pounds shipped, and the # DT58MR will be slightly lighter at 32 pounds shipped. Between the two, however, I would go with the Draw-Tite # DT58MR. This is due to the higher tongue weight capacity, but I do suggest double checking how much tongue weight your Model Y is actually rated to handle. As a side note, if you will ever pull a trailer or...

  • Difference Between the Draw-Tite and EcoHitch Trailer Hitches for a 2023 Tesla Model Y
I recommend installing the EcoHitch Trailer Hitch Receiver # EH39FR for your 2023 Tesla Model Y and here is why: Both the Draw-Tite # DT58MR and the EcoHitch # EH39FR install behind the bumper and have a really clean appearance, but the main difference is that the Draw-Tite replaces your bumper beam while the EcoHitch sits lower and allows you to reinstall the bumper beam. Normally I recommend going with the Draw-Tite brand because their installations are typically easier and at a lower...

  • Comparing Draw-Tite and EcoHitch Trailer Hitch Receivers For a 2021 Tesla Model Y
The main difference between the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # DT58MR and EcoHitch Invisi Trailer Hitch Receiver # EH39FR is going to be the construction. The Draw-Tite # DT58MR is going to be a steel construction with an e-coat base and powder coat finish. The EcoHitch # EH39FR which is the receiver I recommend has an aluminum and steel alloy construction with a powder coat finish. This hitch is manufactured in the USA. The Draw-Tite # DT58MR is fairly similar to the EcoHitch # EH39FR in many respects including the design and installation, but the EcoHitch # EH39FR is made from an alloy of recycled materials where the Draw-Tite is made from steel. Typically the draw of EcoHitch is their design, which on most vehicles provides a completely hidden hitch for your vehicle - where most other manufacturers don't have completely hidden hitches available. In this case, both the Draw-Tite and EcoHitch mount behind...

Thank you for your purchase and for all of the info! The Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch # DT58MR is still an excellent choice for your 2021 Tesla Model Y and it allows you to replace that removeable fascia so you won't need a hitch cover. The only other trailer hitch available at this time (May 2022) is the EcoHitch # EH39FR.
